eriku Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Seth MacFarlane's next animated project is called "American Dad" and is supposed to air sometime in 2005...which is a bit odd since that's when the new Family Guy episodes are supposed to start. Could we be lucky enough to get two great Seth McFarlane shows at the same time? Anyway, check out the 6 minute clip of the pilot episode and tell me that the alien isn't going to be a hit! It's sorta like ALF, only funny... www.american-dad.com Quote
Skippy438 Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Wow .... I don't know where to begin! Seth McFarlane has always made me laugh with his out of the blue craziness. This is going to be great. Period. Quote
Stamen0083 Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 (edited) Oh great, I have a bearclaw in my ass. This is great stuff. Family Guy and American Dad on at the same time? Heaven. Edited August 3, 2004 by Stamen0083 Quote
Batou Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Very interesting. I love the bits he's been doing on CN lately. McFarlane definitely deserves all the success he can muster - the resurrection of Family Guy is a bewildering and unexpected schock to one so jaded by network cluelessness. It was easily the best show Fox put on the air since the Simpsons, IMHO, and I think anyone who's seen it will agree it was taken away WAY before it's time. Quote
~Duo~Trenten Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Is it me or does the dad look like Arnold Schwarzenegger. Quote
azrael Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 The trades are reporting that some of McFarlene's picks of Family Guy will be on during the Olympics (on Fox). Otherwise, new episodes will not air until next year. Alex Borstein (voice of Lois) has indicated that the new episodes are set to come in June 2005. American Dad will come on first however. My guess is that depending on how American Dad turns out will influence if Family Guy comes on sooner. But until then, June 2005. Quote
whytwolf Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 I don't think I've seen anything so funny since...well...the Reagan Administration? Sean ps - no, I'm not trying to start anything.... Quote
BoBe-Patt Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 oh snap, that's some funny shtuff!! I love Family Guy, and I'm pretty sure this'll be equally has good! Can't wait!! Quote
EXO Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Someone from MW lent me an animation that they did in school. One of the voice actors was Seth McFarlane... Quote
rocco_77 Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Looks pretty good, but I don't think it holds a candle to Family Guy based on what I saw.... Has potential though... Family Guy is possibly the funniest show I have ever seen. Maybe I'm biased... Quote
Pat Payne Posted August 3, 2004 Posted August 3, 2004 Loved the alien, but other than that...Family Guy (except for two segments) almost always made me laugh more than cringe...this one was just the opposite. From the overly horny fish (Brian was a saint compared to that goldfish!) to Mr. Smith frisking his daughter ("You never do that to Steve...") this was just too much. Quote
Opus Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 It's too similar to Family Guy. I don't think I like it. Quote
TheFrenchOne Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 a horny fish with a german brain !? i dunno what people in charge of scenario are smoking but i want some !! Anyway, this pilot is really fun. Quote
NERV Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 the fact that its similar to family guy i like, makes it so u can think its a spinoff in the same universe Quote
eriku Posted August 4, 2004 Author Posted August 4, 2004 Heh, I remember people complaining that Futurama was too much like the Simpsons. Quote
NERV Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Heh, I remember people complaining that Futurama was too much like the Simpsons. aside form the animation style i dont tihnk futurama is anything like simpsons Quote
gnollman Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 Gotta agree with that. Personally, I like Futurama better than Simpsons or Family Guy, but I can understand that that is just a matter of taste.... They're all three hilarious.... just that Futurama is worth buying to me, and the rest are rentals or borrowers.... Quote

NERV Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 i still enjoy the simpsons but its not nearly as good as it used to be, u cant keep a sitcom fresh for 14 years Quote
Mellow Yellow Posted August 4, 2004 Posted August 4, 2004 The Simpsons has been sucking for the past 8 years. It's like a wounded animal begging to die. When the hell is it going to go away?!?! Quote
eriku Posted August 4, 2004 Author Posted August 4, 2004 Thanks for proving my point, guys. Back when Futurama first aired and some people were saying it was too similar to the Simpsons, I never really saw where tey were coming from, other than the animation style of course. Now Futurama has proven itself to be not only vastly different, but also better in some ways. I'm still pissed it had to get beheaded by the blind and unforgiving Fox guillotine. Quote
