Agent ONE Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Personally I don't see the appeal.Yeah, Parker and Stone "poke fun at everybody" but at their core, they are basically pinko commies like their fat greasy loser buddy Michael Moore. Plus, I always throught the Thunderbirds (the original marionette show) was gay as gay could be, so why re-create it? Are they really commies!? I mean did they say that? I know MM is. Personally I feel that a Comunist is worse than a Nazi or a Satanist. Pinko Commie? I wasn't aware the world still used this phrase after the '50's. And really... I wasn't even aware communism was still such a threat. Thanks for the update from the cold war! Sorry, without turning this even more into a political thread. Pinko Commie is the term I use to describe liberals. Close minded? - Yes, but, hey, it works for me. HAHAHAHAAAA!!! Thats a tad extreem, but I know how you feel.
JsARCLIGHT Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 (edited) Uuuuum, not sure were you get your info but Michael Moore is on Stone and Parker's shitlist from how he handled Stone's appearance in Bowling for Collumbine... hence their downright cruel treatment of him in Team America. If you don't believe me here is a news article where they spell it out: They reserve their harshest treatment, however, for ``Fahrenheit 9/11'' filmmaker Michael Moore - but their disdain is as much personal as political.Stone, who is from Littleton, Colo., agreed to talk about his hometown and the infamous high-school shooting there for Moore's anti-gun documentary ``Bowling for Columbine.'' ``We have a very specific beef with Michael Moore,'' Stone said. ``I did an interview, and he didn't mischaracterize me or anything I said in the movie. But what he did do was put this cartoon right after me that made it look like we did that cartoon.'' Parker and Stone still harbor hard feelings about that sassy, anti-gun cartoon because they feel it was done in ``South Park'' style. They believe the proximity to Stone's interview misled some fans into thinking they had done the cartoon, even though Moore never said they did. For this slight, Moore's punishment in ``Team America'' is extreme: he's depicted as a gibbering, overweight, hot-dog eating buffoon who straps explosives to his body to blow up the American do-gooders. The puppet was reportedly stuffed with ham when it blew. Source: AP Article Edited October 12, 2004 by JsARCLIGHT

myk Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Danger Will Robinson! Topic nearing political nature! Danger! Return to normal discussion! Agreed-enough of this political banter. They shouldn't even bother releasing this movie; instead, they should re-release Mean Girls...

They are back in my good graces as is anyone who hates Micheal Moore, and would like to see his fat greasy ass spontaneously combust. But, like MYK said, we are nearing the danger zone, so why not pick apart my other comment instead? Y'know, the one where I said that the Thunderbirds were the gayest thing ever, so why redo them?
Deadzone Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Wow, just another great example of how Moore distorts things. That cartoon was blatantly a South Park ripoff if Stone and Parker didn't do it. However, I still don't like Stone and Parker's brand of comedy.
phoenix01 Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 Yeah. News flash: We won the Cold War. Film at Eleven. No, we are all just switching sides.

VortexVFX Posted October 12, 2004 Posted October 12, 2004 You know, I liked South Park a lot when it first came out. Then it got reduced to a bunch of cheap and predictable jokes. I don't think Matt Stone and Trey Parker are comedic geniuses. I think they lost it a long time ago. Yes, they poke fun of everybody, but their jokes tend to be more on the shock value side for me instead of the clever side. It's kind of like the Simpsons now. I watched the first seven seasons of that show almost religiously. But now the writing has turned into one outrageous story after another. They try to fill in the fact that the writing is terrible with celebrity guest stars, and Homer exaggerating everything "to the extreme". Bleh.I haven't seen Team America yet, but I have a hard time believing this will be a very funny movie. There may be parts worth a chuckle, but the first seven seasons of the Simpsons has raised the bar so high for me, everything else just seems so average. Will this movie make fun of the right or the left. Let's see. Michael Moore is on the extreme left "although he claims not to be". Matt and Trey helped him do an animation for one of his movies. I'm guessing this movie will slam the right and make light jokes about the left in a half-hearted attempt. BTW. I am sick and tired of hearing people say that Moore is good because he balances out people like Rush. To me, that is just plain dumb. It's like saying you're tired of being lied to by just one group, you need to be lied to by two different groups. These fat loud mouths promote ignorance and hatred based on flimsy arguments and twisting of facts. I say let them both burn in hell. That reminds me of Scooby Doo....
Blaine23 Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Cool, well, I stand corrected on Parker and Stone then. They are back in my good graces as is anyone who hates Micheal Moore, and would like to see his fat greasy ass spontaneously combust. Only if you agree with me that both sides talking heads - such as that horrendous shrew moron Ann Coulter and pill-head lardass Rush Limbaugh deserve the same fiery death, then we're cool. Otherwise, you're basically hating a guy for doing the same thing they do, albeit more successfully. But, like MYK said, we are nearing the danger zone, so why not pick apart my other comment instead?Y'know, the one where I said that the Thunderbirds were the gayest thing ever, so why redo them? The obvious answer would be to make fun of how gay puppets are. To me, that's funnier than any more of this barrage of partisan political crap. I'm so ready for this election to be over.
Mechamaniac Posted October 13, 2004 Posted October 13, 2004 Only if you agree with me that both sides talking heads - such as that horrendous shrew moron Ann Coulter and pill-head lardass Rush Limbaugh deserve the same fiery death, then we're cool. Otherwise, you're basically hating a guy for doing the same thing they do, albeit more successfully. Yeah, I'll agree with that. I never thought Rush was worth a crap, and he proved it beyond the shadow of doubt when he revealed himself to be a worthless druggie. IMHO, if you're going to be one of those "I am always right" types of public figures, then you had better damn well crap sunshine or someone is eventually going to come along, and reveal what a loser you really are. The thing that pissed me off about Moore was the way he ridiculed 80 year old Chuck Heston who has Alzheimer's. Way to go Mike, let's go pick on 80 year old guy and laugh when we ask him questions he's not prepared for and make him look like a fool. At least Chuck made it to 80, which is a milestone I doubt that pus gut Moore will ever reach. The obvious answer would be to make fun of how gay puppets are. Actually, I still think Mimes are much gayer than puppets.

I think all retarted extreemists should be shot. Ann and Rush make conservatives look bad just like Moore makes liberals look bad.
bsu legato Posted October 16, 2004 Author Posted October 16, 2004 America......America....F*CK YEAH!!! So who went to see TA last night? I think those songs were quite possibly funnier than most of the soundtrack from South Park: Bigge Longer & Uncut.

Yeah, I saw the Motorcycle Diaries also. I thought it was a beautiful, but yeah, they DID portray him to be a little TOO nice. The real historical accoutn of his life made him out to be a revolutionary before taking the Mototcycle trip. But who knows, maybe even Hitler had a beautiful childhood. It is what those two criminals did later in their life that I am more interested in looking into.
Agent ONE Posted October 16, 2004 Posted October 16, 2004 Oh yeah and Team America was the most awesome (NON OAK) movie I have seen in years.
ComicKaze Posted October 17, 2004 Posted October 17, 2004 I'm just so pissed off that Roger Ebert can't appreciate the beauty of marionation because while Thunderbirds was on TV in the 60s, he was writing pornographic B movie scripts. Even in his review of the Thunderbirds (which definetely does suck), he had no conception on why anybody would enjoy marionettes and said it was based on an old "puppet show". Super Marionation all the way!!!
areaseven Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 With the movie premiering next week, Team America has been given the R rating after the three minute puppet sex scene was trimmed out. At least the scene will be shown in its entirety when the DVD comes out. Just came back from the Sneak Preview, and the movie was hilarious. But the Puppet sex scene was there, and it was pretty graphic. When I said "trimmed out", I meant the scene was shortened, not deleted. The puppet sex scene on the final cut is less than 40 seconds long.

areaseven Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 (edited) "America - F*CK YEAH!!! We're here to save the motherf*kin' day yeah! America - F*CK YEAH!!! Freedom is the only way. Terrorists, your day is through Now you have to answer to... America - F*CK YEAH!!! You can lick my butt and suck on my balls! America - F*CK YEAH!!!..." Well, I watched Team America: World Police twice over the weekend (and for free, as I also work at AMC Theatres in Woodland Hills). It's funny how very few people mentioned that the 1982 flop Megaforce was a huge influence to this film (Trey and Matt claimed it was their all-time favorite movie on an intro of one of the South Park videos). Without a doubt, this movie is more offensive than South Park, even though Kim Jong-Il is not as evil as Saddam. I'm just pissed over the fact that the soundtrack won't be available in stores until next month (otherwise, it's available online tomorrow). Gary: "A flying limousine. Now, I've seen everything." areaseven Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 (edited) For those who have seen the movie, what's your favorite song? "Oh Little Woman" - Gary/Lisa love theme "I'm so Ronery" - Kim Jong-Il's theme "Pearl Harbor Sucks" - song played while Gary rides his bike back to Mount Rushmore "Montage" - training theme song "You Are Worthless, Alec Baldwin" - Kim Jong-Il's ending theme Edited October 20, 2004 by areaseven

EXO Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Yeah, that song pretty much brings integrity to Kim Jong Il's character as it gives insight to his background and the political arena of the place where he came from... yes, I'm kidding...

areaseven Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 More random quotes from the film... Spottswoode: "There is no 'I' in Team America." I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E.: "Yes, there is." Terrorist Leader: "I like you. You have balls. I like balls."

do not disturb Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 you guys are ruining this movie for me. j/k, i'm going to watch it tonight!
NERV Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 i saw it, meh, there were some damn funny parts but for the most it just followed the generic action movie plot, i know it was made to make fun of action movies but it seems like the main 'joke' was the fact that it was an action movie with marionettes, dont get me wrong it was funny and just worth the ticket price, but i was expecting more from trey and matt
Ghadrack Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Movie.... Awesome I love everything they have done though, from Cannibl the Musical to Orgazmo, South park, Baseketball, it is all good. At any rate, did any of you remember the phone number from the chick's business card? it was 1-800-555-#### and I know there was a 43 and another descending number sequence, like 76 or 10 but I didn't get it written down. I wanted to call it, to see if there was a funny recording or something like the old number from Ghost-Busters.
Agent ONE Posted October 18, 2004 Posted October 18, 2004 Well the movie is basically a big jab against the current administration. You couldn't have been more wrong. If anything it was in favor of the current administration. I am expecting a lot of sissies on this board to start bashing this movie because they are all of a sudden pissed that it didn't push the "America is wrong" agenda...
