Zeta Otaku Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Completed auction Sheesh... that thing is ugly! "I AM NOT AN ANIMAL!" Quote
GobotFool Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 actually I think its kinda cute in its own weird way. Quote
Just Gundam Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Considering it's still distinguishable, it isn't too bad Quote
yellowlightman Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Those things look awesome, in a hideous 70's toy kinda way. Wish I'd seen that auction, those things are definately worth more than $10 if they're that old, imo. Reminds me of the new new "retro" vinyl Gundam toys, about $6 inches tall, very very limited poseability and they sell for around $50 new. Vinyl toy collecting is a pretty big and expensive hobby. Bub Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Isnt that the Toynami MPC Glaug? Hmmmmm...... I believe so, too. I think that is the MPC Glaug. Quote
Commander McBride Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Aww.....it's so kawaii!!! I admit it, I hang around with too many fangirls...... Quote
kanata67 Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 as much as I love my marauders... ahm, I mean glaugs..., the vinyl four pack is somethingI have passed up numerous times at $20 for all four still in container. If you have to ask why... the glaug was the best looking one of the lot if that says anything. Quote
drifand Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 There are folks who are dedicated "sofubi" collectors precisely because of the inaccuracies and distortions inherent in these toys. It has a retro kind of funkiness that's charming and disarming at the same time. Check out this thread on ToyboxDX for some really cool photos of soft vinyl robots! You wouldn't believe how some of the incarnations turned out. :-) Quote
Diverdown Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Isnt that the Toynami MPC Glaug? This was my auction. The pic does look a bit scrunched maybe because of the angle. In person, this vinyl Glaug looks very good. Quote
kidkorrupt Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 that ugly deformed thing is actually pretty cool wonder how the other bots looked like in this line Quote
Agent ONE Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 Hmmm. I remember that thing. Back then they didn't have the technology to do much with Vinyl. Quote
Manji Posted September 10, 2003 Posted September 10, 2003 that ugly deformed thing is actually pretty cool wonder how the other bots looked like in this line If you go to the ToyboxDX link Drifand provided a few posts up and scroll down the page you will see a large assortment of vinyl figures a bunch (if not all) of the Macross ones are among them - check it out... drifand Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Heh heh... some of those vinyl Valks actually resemble the worst cel renditions in Anime Friend produced TV episodes! How about that for anime-accurate vintage toys? Quote
bigkid24 Posted September 11, 2003 Posted September 11, 2003 Man, I remember wanting that 4-pack as a kid. I would have gotten it too but I was fickle and got a G.I. Joe Skyhawk instead. Anyway, seeing that pic makes me glad that I didn't. Quote
