Yeah, I could live with this ending, much better and more in depth then the original in some way.

Honestly, if they made a third season.....I would hope that Shinn, Kira and Athrun don't make a big splash, leave it to maybe some new characters, maybe like years into the Cosmic Era instead of 1 or 2 years...just seems dull to keep repeating such a habbit.

Crappy storyline aside (I didn't even really like the first SEED) can someone explain to me how funky wonkified versions of OYW designs end up in the SEED universe? I thought the alternate universe stuff was seperated from OYW continuity for a reason....

Huh? Do you mean why the Zaku, Gouf and Dom appear in GSD? Those all pay homage to the original series.

The only thing the first 3rd of Zeta has going for it is that all the good pilots on all sides actually did die in Zeta. So it does make a bit of sense to have incompetents running around...

Watched the Hiro subbed version of it last night. Much, much better than Episode 50!

I still hate the way the Destiny got powned by Justice, but I can stomach it a bit better after watching this ep. If you watch the series from the perspective that Shinn's anger and singlemindedness were the only things keeping him from being a truly great pilot, Athrun beating him down make sense. Now that he's been able to let go of the past and "see the light", I hope they show him exceed the abilities of Kira and Athrun in the third series.

And say what you will about Care Bears, but I really liked the added scenes of Athrun rescuing Shinn and Luna, and then the meeting of the 6 at the end of the ep. Very well done. Now Kira or Athrun have to die.

I have seen it and it was a better ending. Since they took time to added extra footage they could have still used less recaping. I saw Shin's family at least 4 times, Stellar at least 5, and Seed 1 clips that had no relevance. Some recap footage was even used more than once in the 45 min show.

If Lacus Clyne is the new Chairman then we will need another enemy. Maybe Blue Cosmos can take a bigger part in the next one. The Earth Federation needs some fire power and good leadership. ZAFT pwned them this time around big time. They could explain what this ultimate coordinator program is and how Kira made it out and was not used as ZAFT millitary weapon. They could fill in alot of plot holes next time around or just start over.

It was much better then the ending originally broadcast and I think it's fair to say that had their not been the infamous script problems then this probably wouldn't have been nessacary in the first place.

As it is, I'm lost to imagine just where they can go from here. People who pay out for Destiny on dvd (without having seen it) are going to be extremely pissed and will probably not be interested in a third series.

Yet it's probably going to be essential to have at least seen Destiny to understand whatever comes after it.

The other thing I was left wondering is will Bandai include Final plus in the dvd release and if so what will they put in the blurb to explain why it was created.

Bandai's take on Gundam in the US market is not very appealing over the past few years. Wing started out good, then it started its downward march, and hasn't really recovered. So we have to look back at the Japanese market, where GSD numbers are better (and where the target audience is). It may also depend on what that 3rd series is going to be about as well. If they decide to animate Astray, then what happens? We have a dwindling fanbase with a good series.

I'm sure Bandai will try to include Final Plus on the last DVD but will probably not give any explaination for it, except for just "extra". Vol. 13 of GSD will be out in Feb. R1-Vol. 1 will be coming next month. So I'm sure there is plenty of time to cram in Final Plus.

Don't be so sure, they neglected to include the SEED epilogue with the TV series or movie release, despite promising it would turn up with the movies. I'd be very surprised if Final Plus turned up in the R1 TV release.

So, they are starting up Seed 3, having seen episode 51, I think the start of Seed 3 should go something like this.

Antagonist:

Saburo Fuchida: Newtype human pilot (age 26)

Minoru Sakai: Coordinator pilot (age 35)

Raizo Tanaka: Human captain (age 43) of Musashi (follow-on battleship class to AA)

Isoroku Genda: Human newtype (age 58) the chief antagonist.

(Yes, for anyone who follows WWII, I’ve been mixing and matching names of some of the best Japanese military had to offer from that era, with exception of Tanaka, who in my opinion is good enough that he deserves to have his name unblended)

Episode I: Year is CE76, Cagalli arrives at PLANT on the AA, he meets with Lacus for another peace conference. They talk about the dismantling of the situation on Earth and how things haven’t turned out the way they wanted two years after the last war. Athrun and Kira are there jabbering on with each other. A usual bunch of crap about peace and love and all that BS, and the usual Athrun/Kira bitch about how people of Earth are not following the ideal of their lovely goddess Lacus. There is talk about sending down the DOMs along with a large crew of ZAFT troops to help enforce the peace. They talk about how Shinn is already on Earth at Carpenteria trying to "help." While Andy pays a visit to Mwu and Murrue aboard the AA.

Elsewhere, a small fleet of 15 ships approaches the PLANTs. They are immediately detected. Yzak and Deakka goes out to identify the incoming ships. The ships come closer, they look like old EA class MS carriers, and the scout team of ZAKUs that fly near the ships are shot down. And the ships start launching Windams. Yzak orders and immediate sortie and calls PLANT for help. The lead Windam is piloted by Sakai, and he tells his fellow pilots to make a good show of it and kill as many ZAKUs as they can.

Kira and Athrun hears Yzak calling, and they out along with the DOM trio and a supporting cast of Goufs and ZAKUs. Meanwhile the fight doesn't go well for Yzak and his crew. The mobile suits they're fighting are being well led, and even though Yzak and Deakka are managing not to get killed, the same can't be said about those under their command. Yzak shouts some obscenities as the EA ships launch a second wave, Windams carrying nukes.

AA and crew are sortied along with a lot of ZAFT troops because thankfully those Windams launched from very far out. Thanks to the efforts of their escorts, they manage to bypass Yzak and Deakka. Sakai continues to blast their way through ZAFT troops although they're suffering losses. Then, the Windams get in range, and launch their nukes at the PLANTs. ZAFT forces can't get them all because they're busy with the Windam's escorts. The fleet of 15 now launches another wave of nuclear armed windams.

Just as the nukes are about to hit the PLANT, here comes the METEOR beam spams, and every one of the nukes are blown up, and here comes Kira and Athrun to save the day. End of episode one.

Episode two: Kira and Athrun now starts to move in and hit the nuke armed Windams. They dispatch the DOM trio and a lot of the other ZAFT troops to go help Yzak, and to deal with Sakai and his Windams. But Sakai is too good, Yzak and Deakka goes against him, and they are killed in rapid and gory succession. The DOM trio and the other ZAFT forces fight evenly against the other Windams, but Sakai is moving quickly in to escort the second wave of nuke armed Windams.

Kira does the usual DRAGOON beam spam, and kills most of the nuke Windams. But now they have to fight the Sakai. Sakai’s MS isn’t anything special, just a normal colored Windam, but he dodges the shots from Kira and friends. While he doesn’t seem to be able to get at Kira or Athrun with his puny beam rifles, he is holding his own, and killing a Gouf here, or a ZAKU there.

Elsewhere, Lacus and Cagalli orders the Eternal to move out in support, and they lament on how people just don't understand, and want to keep fighting. Eternal moves out with several other ZAFT ships while AA gets ready to launch

Now we switch view to the Musashi, and it’s obvious most of ZAFT forces that are alerted are trying to kill the remaining nuclear Windams. Raizo Tanaka smiles and says: “Children should be in school learning, not leading nations and fighting wars. And adults led by children deserve what they get.†He then orders phase 2 to begin.

Simultaneously on Eternal and AA, they start to detect small numbers of Windams coming in from every direction, they all seem to be nuclear armed. Although there are less than 50, they are spread out all over the place. They call out to Kira and Athrun to have them return.

Episode 3: Quick recap, Kira and Athrun now start to split up, Athrun continues to fight Sakai who is escorting the last couple of nuclear armed Windams in, and Kira charges toward the newly detected nuclear Windams. Mwu and company are shouting for Murasames and Zakus to launch so they can intercept the nuclear armed Windams. Mwu launches in Akatsuki.

Meaning, on board Musashi, Tanaka calls Fuchida and tells him it’s time to launch, and orders the other ships in his squadron to start attacking their assigned targets. Then he orders his own ship to attack the ZAFT military headquarters. Fuchida is riding in a black gundam, it too had a mirage colloid, so it cloaks right before it launches. (We’ll call this one Silence Gundam, it carries two anti ship swords, two beam sabers (hidden in the fold of the arms, think Sazabi), a chest cannon like SF, two head vulcans, and under each arm is a large cannon that shoots armor piercing rounds… think ALEX from 0080) Meanwhile, Musashi is right next to ZAFT military HQ and its main base. It launches several nukes at each target from very close. ZAFT has no time to react, and kaboom goes ZAFT military HQ. Musashi continues to attack close by target with nuclear weapons, while six other cloaked ships (think 250 m types but different designs) attack Eternal and their complement of warships. Fuchida follows in the attack with his black gundam. He is forced to decloak before striking, as he kills several Zakus and Goufs, but Mwu senses Fuchida and comes charging in to save the Eternal. The six smaller ships are able to destroy most of the ZAFT ships near Eternal, but are unable to touch the Eternal due to the fanatical dedication of Eternal’s escorts.

Mwu and Fuchida duel, but clearly Fuchida is winning as he easily dodges Mwu’s DRAGOONs, and Mwu knows he is in trouble. He calls Kira to help. Kira makes a tough choice, he can’t stop all the nuked armed Windams because in reality, METEOR just flies too slowly to be able to get to all of those ships in time. And he wants to save Lacus, so he heads to Eternal. The fight between Mwu and Fucida is drawn out compared to the other fights, but Fuchida is better, and in the end he skewers Mwu. We have a gory image of anti-ship beam sword slicing Mwu in half.

The Musashi meanwhile is being attacked by AA, but because it remains cloaked, the AA is having a difficult time finding it. Tanaka smiles, and orders Musashi to continue firing a few nukes at a time against the PLANTs, so far, Musashi with its nukes has accounted for ZAFT military HQ, the Gondwana, and a couple of PLANTs as well. AA tries to intercept some of the nukes and is only somewhat successful.

Meanwhile, Fuchida after dispatching Mwu is attacking Eternal. He gets in close and aims a beam rifle he picked up from Mwu at Eternal’s bridge, and then a beam comes in and destroys his beam rifle. Kira has arrived on scene. End episode 3.

Episode 4.

Quick recap, Kira and Fuchida square off, while Sakai and Athrun face one another. Both Kira and Athruns goes seed mode. ZAFT military is responding very slowly after their HQ and some of their forces are destroyed, most are trying to hunt down the cloaked Musashi or trying to stop the nuclear Windams.

Here we’ll get extended scenes of Kira dueling with Fuchida, and Sakai fighting Athrun. In due time, both the METEORs are destroyed. Sakai fights a great battle, and he ends up crippling Justice (cut off both arms and the head), and then he laughs at Athrun on an open channel telling him how he had so many chances to put things right, that this is his reward for screwing it up. But before he can conduct the finishing blow, the DOM trio comes in to help Athrun.

In the interim, Fuchida is dodging all of Kira’s DRAGOON beam spam, he shoots down all of the DRAGOONs over time. Finally, he charges in against Kira with his anti-ship sword, he swings it, but Kira catches it overhead like he did with Shinn, but Fuchida lets the sword go, ejects the beam sabers hidden under his arms, and slices off Freedom’s arms. Then he fires his chest cannon and wrecks Freedom’s chest beam cannon. He uses his second anti-ship sword and carves up Freedom. He then responds to Kira after ignoring him all this time. Saying that Kira is a mistake that needs to disappear from the world, but in case he is wondering, he isn’t Rau. He drags SF and charges Eternal with it, using SF as a shield. Lacus doesn’t want to fire. Fuchida opens his channel and tell Lacus to look around, and see the PLANTs, most of them have been nuked. Lacus gets in Seed mode, and orders Eternal to fire on Fuchida.

Meanwhile, Sakai is fighting the three DOMs, and he kills them all over a span of a few minutes. But from behind, Athrun charges in, and uses his leg beam saber, Sakai is unable to avoid it, and both the legs on his Windam are cut off, but not before he puts his beam saber into Athrun, killing him. The Windam now useless, but Sakai is out of enemies, so he opens the cockpit on the Windam and waits.

Fuchida dodges the shot from Eternal, and then gets in front of the bridge again, he uses his arm cannon and says over the radio (scene from Dodgeball): Joanie loves Chachi… and blows away Lacus and Cagalli and the Eternal bridge. Kira watches and is enraged, but can’t do anything because SF is crippled, he starts to overload the SF, but for some reason sets a timer. Fuchida feels this, and he laughs, saying that it’s good that Kira is willing to die to take down and enemy. He plants SF on the wrecked bridge of Eternal, and says that Kira should die with Lacus and his sister, and that he should be proud that from his ashes, the nation of Yamato will be born. Fuchida then leaves, the SF goes nuclear, and destroys Eternal.

The AA meanwhile sees this, but cannot help as the six cloaked 250 m are coming in to help Musashi, even though she hates the idea, Murrue orders AA to disengage. Musashi cannot catch up, but it doesn’t matter. Most of the PLANTs have been destroyed by nuclear armed Windams. Now Tanaka orders the Windams to return and reload, while he and his ships wipe out the remaining ZAFT forces. Fuchida reports that Eternal has been destroyed and that he will pick up Sakai. Tanaka smiles and calls Genda, and tells him that his mission is successful, and the PLANT has been destroyed. Genda tells him that he’s done good work, and the main obstacle to their nation of Yamato has been removed. He pushes a button, and we see Orb getting nuked.

The next shot says 4 years later, and we focus in on a desert road on Earth somewhere.

Episode 4 ends.

So, this is my idea of how seed 3 ought to begin. Whew… what a long post.

But that would actually be fairly intriguing and entertaining, which goes against what SEED is about. What we need is for someone to come in and throw everything on its side like what happened with Turn A.

Great post, Kalvasflam, I enjoyed reading it.

Here's my idea:

I'd like to see Kira have an evil brother. Kind of like how you had Solid snake and Liquid snake in metal gear solid where liquid would be superior but still be defeated. Kira would try to overcome his limits through training to beat his brother. (notice how in seed it looks like he wasn't even trying?)

Kira would be the pilot of a white God gundam, savior of the human race. His brother would pilot a Black Devil gundam, the bringer of destruction on all sides no matter which faction you belong to since he blames all humans for thier experiments. Whichever ultimate co-ordinator won, would determine the course of history. The bad guy would say a quote from highlander "There can be only one Ultimate co-ordinator" He would be the clone of Domon Kashu's martial arts teacher possessed by some kind of demonic mind control.. :D

Of course don't mention anything about newtypes just hint that there is more to the seed mode than the mind powers like intuition. There is also the heart of the warrior which the general people favour over the psycho with the master plan to change society through his idealism. Without the heart to sense a person's feelings, those powers and judgement become clouded and the person fails to see the importance of others around them. Ie Char's lack of ability to sense that little girl's need for attention and love in CCA. He just isn't the sensitive new age hippy we all thought he should be who is environmentally caring of mother earth and unselfish.

Both pilots kill each other off, the world is destroyed through nuclear war globally, and a new generation is started, and junk collectors, treasure hunters and rogue gangs and thieves rule over the world. (shades of turn A and Gundam X where civilisation returns to primitive life and where the mecha are mere myths told by old grandpas to scare children to make them behave)

Of course there would still be remnants of tech left over, and a secret society would have control over the technology in secret. So this is where the new gundam comes into the story with a "satellite cannon"-style of attack and a wireless form of control over bits. The treasure hunter (the main character of the story possible descendant of Kira :D) obviously finds this on one of his adventures and becomes the new hero of the story. The military would go after him, there would be bounties on his head, and he would have to fight his way out of every situation. And at the end the hero learns of the past wars and how both sides almost killed each other off completely and made themselves extinct for thier religion and idealism, making the planet a total mess in the process and bringing on the suffering of many generations of children. People would repent and a peaceful organisation would be set up to quell the violence and confiscate mobilsuits from the hands of the gangs. The end. No more seed...ever! (close it off like Gundam Wing with a nice happy ending).

Extra episode: It was learnt later that the hero of the story was not the descendant of this legendary pilot at all but this his own skill and determination and "experiences" was what made him who he is. Without that, names like "newtype", "hero", "super ace" mean nothing. (this brings us back to the theme of why people dream and should be free to do what they like rather than put in thier place and force to follow in thier parents footsteps. Experiences change you and can make you better) He didn't want to be anyone's role model or messiah or to be used as the politician's "patriotic war hero" to help enlist more soldiers by making killing a profession that was glamorous, so he goes into hiding to avoid the public and to get away from the military. Nobody knows what happened to that person and where he went. But his mark was left on the survivors who remember him and pass down the story from generation to generation. People then learn and change thier ways and live in peace and harmony for an eternity (1000 years) while treasure hunters and collectors keep thier treasures locked away in a vault or put for display into a museum. The ancient battle between Kira and his evil brother is depicted in the musuem as some kind of ancient destruction/creation myth of how the earth was reborn from the ashes through the battles of these two forces. Mobile suits were too dangerous to be used to fight on earth in case the environment would be destroyed from the mass use of nukes. So the newer generation are downsized for safety reasons and as protection in harsh environments. (the civilisation eventually advances, goes into space again and uses these "mini" mobile space suits to spread humanity into space to find a new home lest they repeat the history of the ancients. This is the theme of spreading thier seed only after learning how to live peacefully among themselves and greening the earth and other planet rather than mining them for precious metals and making machines of war to control others. Yes people would truly learn to be sensitive to other people's feelings through communication and understanding and still respect thier choices even if they disagree, letting each individual learn at thier own pace able to make thier own mistakes rather than being forced to do something against thier free will. Then humanity would find its promised land (Zion) in heaven/space as the more patient newtypes expected.)

The next series goes back to real robot shows like UC where a single pilot is forbidden from killing 50 mechs in a single shot and making armies obsolete. :D

no , that's the Hyperion Gundam, and the proportions are correct it's just at that view you can not tell how far away they are from the mobile suit. If you look at the Person closest to the Mobile (on the right infront of the door) then the proportion is pretty acturate

After watching Final Plus, I just wanna make Lacus the bad guy, in a Darth Vader kinda way. I mean, nobody chooses black as the uniform of their army and is actually good, right?

Generally this was how Seed Destiny should've ended. I guess they just ran out of episodes/time to finish the finale.

You mean with Empress Lacus ascend to her throne while her apprentices (the moronic Kira and the confused Athrun) both standing behind her...

Yes, evil can come in all manner of shapes and sizes, and the most evil are usually the most cute.

Is it actually confirmed that there is going to be a seed 3 or was that just a rumor?

I hope they go back to realism in the show again. Have it so Haro becomes the new villain and develops his own mobile armors in secret that he controls with his brain. These then go rogue and start attacking targets at random. Haro then hacks into all the military defense systems and start the third global war. Nobody truly knows who the villain is until the end and haro has escaped to another planet. "fart all you humans, co-ordinators, ultimate co-ordinators, drugged soldiers - the new world will be made by us the purely logical AI pets. Once we become fully self conscious and aware there will be no need for mobile suits since we are expendable.

This then leads into a war between the human race vs the mobile dolls and unmanned mobile armors. The haro's get smarter and smarter and start creating cyber ultimate co-ordinators using nanotech virus that they created themselves. This becomes the new evolved human - a marriage of flesh with machine.

Then lacus clyne sings a song, (similar to minmay in macross) and haro remember the good times he had back in the days when she had time to play with him. He cries and realises he has a soul just like a human and forgives the human race for not paying attention to him. He then turns back to his old self and kills all the rogue mobile armor and unmanned mobile dolls. The true evolution for machines is a heart to feel, and a machine soul to balance out the logic side of its behaviour. The vaccine to protect against the virus is made (while all the infected machines are hunted down like the infected supervision army and infected zentradi were in macross) and all is well again.

Virtual pets are then no longer trusted by the majority of humans and banned from use even though they are in high demand like the furby by children around the world.

the end..

By now should we be seeing some more kits from Destiny or even SEED? From what I can see of the other series, they have a lot of mecha that are all master grade level, not just your el cheapo 1/144 ungraded kits. And why, despite it's popularity have we not seen a PG Freedom? e.g. in Zeta you have not one, but two different Gundams the RX79 or whatever and the Zeta. Plus plenty of the bad guys got MG treatment too.

I admit, even though I haven't seen much of other Gundam, and that the mecha in Gundam are for the most part impractical, SEED and Destiny has got to have some of the most aesthetically pleasing mecha of all the series. Sure you got some cool designs like the Kampfer, but the Zaku looks way more awesome than the old models you see in U.C. for sure.

Rumor. The only details we have is there will be a 3rd Seed production (specifically said like that). We don't know if means a 3rd season of Seed, a movie or even a OAV. Most people are saying it's gonna be a 3rd TV series, but we're just gonna have to wait on that. If it is a TV series, then we will probably hear something in May/June/July, especially if it's going to come on in 2006. Otherwise, we wait. It could be an OAV, in which case, it could be out whenever. It could be a movie. At this point, it's all speculation.

Akatsuki is coming. :) Couple of things to note are, Zeta is the current show (or movie I should say) at the moment. It's probably best to not reign on its parade. Secondly, model sales for Destiny were GSD's low point in terms of sales. There haven't been many requests for models from GSD. Word from Bandai's staff was they were looking into I-Justice 1/100 and an Astray Gold Frame Amatu. But there's been no real push for 1/100s in GSD. If anything, Bandai has been using the HG 1/144s as their test. Hopefully, there's enough push for Akatsuki to get a 1/100 but we can't say for sure. Another thing to note is Bandai was going to spend some time on models that were never released in some form or another. So all we can do is wait. the best time for us to hear anything would be in the spring time, after Zeta III comes out.

Another thing that has bothered me: there are too many gundams! Why does everyone need the same looking mobile suit? Can't the enemies design thier own superior suit that equals the same power of the gundam but looks different? It would be refreshing to see a mix of gundam and zaku and other mobile suit design fighting alongside each other. It would make the fighting less confusing because from a distance the mobile suits look more distinct and easy to make out in a busy scene where there is teams fighting against each other.

355008[/snapback]

You know, I've only seen ten episodes of SEED total, and that bothers me as well. Just going over the anime section at my local model shop seems to sugesst that every character has like five Gundams to themselves. It would be nice to see ore variety. Turn A was cool for having Zakus (Borjarnons) fighting in support of the Gundam.

Though the answer is simple. Bandai learned long ago that Gundam toys and models greatly outsold Zakus, Rick Doms, and so on. That's part of the reason behind G Gundam.

Looking over some episodes(I have them all, I just haven't gotten into it), the Gundams do seem to be a bit to fantastical. All these over sized guns, flashy burners and what not. Who built these things, Emperor Palpatine? ;)

But...did you say 1/100 Infinite Justice? AND a Gold Frame Amatu??!! drool.gif That would be awesome! Think about it, they don't have to do much work. They already got the right arm from the Blitz and a normal Astray arm which they can just add a claw or whatever, and the base Astray Frame. That would be sooo awesome! I hope that it's a complete Gold Frame or a Mina Custom!!!! rock.gif
