Syngyne Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 I preordered the first volume of Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex, and even though it's listed as a July 27th release, I got my copy in yesterday. Did anyone else get an early copy? Quote
eriku Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Have you watched it yet? How is the English dubbing? Quote

Myriad Posted July 18, 2004 Posted July 18, 2004 Tachikoma Specials? AnimeonDVD forum not my cup of tea. How is the dub? Quote
Syngyne Posted July 19, 2004 Author Posted July 19, 2004 AnimeonDVD forum not my cup of tea. How is the dub? I actually have no idea. ;;; I only watched the sub. Quote
treatment Posted July 19, 2004 Posted July 19, 2004 (edited) Tachikoma Specials?AnimeonDVD forum not my cup of tea. How is the dub? The dubs were mostly excellent and in-character. Only Togusa' s dub was rather weak and lame compared to the Movie's original dub-actor. It's pretty much as good as the movie's dub. Almost the same voice-actors. But like I said, Crispin Freeman's Togusa was just really weak. Dunno why they didn't get the original dub-actor (christopher joyce) to reprise the role. But if you'd hated the movie's dubs, then you'll prolly also hate the Gits-Sac dubs. Edited July 19, 2004 by treatment Quote
CoryHolmes Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Is SACs dub as lifeless and listless as the movie's voices? Quote
treatment Posted July 20, 2004 Posted July 20, 2004 Is SACs dub as lifeless and listless as the movie's voices? errr, i don't know what you mean. The GitS-movie dubs were some of the best dubs ever done. The japanese-dubs for the movie was pretty dull in comparison. The only weak vocal in SAC was Crispin Freeman's Togusa. Quote
Myriad Posted July 21, 2004 Posted July 21, 2004 The DVD is cool! The Tachikoma days are also on the DVD. The dub is pretty good. The picture and audio quality are awsome. Single DVD $17.99 at Circuit City. I will just buy the CD on ebay. I have no need for the DTS disc. Quote
Panon Posted July 24, 2004 Posted July 24, 2004 Is SACs dub as lifeless and listless as the movie's voices? Nowhere near it. It's a very well done dub. They could probably have picked a better voice for Aramaki but other than that it's all good. Dub fans and people watching it on adult swim should love it. Quote

Hikuro Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 Hmmmm maybe I'll go look for this later today at FRY's or something. Quote
Panon Posted July 25, 2004 Posted July 25, 2004 it's gonna be on adult swim? Yes - it and Full Metal Alchemist both start on Adult Swim on November 6th. Quote
bsu legato Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 (edited) So how does the dub script compare to the dub script? The movie seemed to diverge quite a bit, now and then. Of course, that was an older Mangle hack job, so it's probably not the best example. Edited July 26, 2004 by bsu legato Quote

Of course, that was an older Mangle hack job, so it's probably not the best example. From all the parts I checked, the dub script is close to the subtitle script, no major changes at all (just the usual little things like slightly different phrasings or words to better sync with the mouth movements). Myriad Posted July 26, 2004 Posted July 26, 2004 The subs do read run smoother then the fansubs Quote
