Stamen0083
Since I only like the S type, I have ever only had S type models. That's one VF-1S, one plated Strike VF-1S, and three regular VF-1S, two of which are from you, Chris, actually, as well as a Strike Battroid. I also have the VF-0S and SV-51. I've been planning to get the VF-0B and am awaiting the eventual release of the VF-0D. As far as Macross Plus Valks go, I have the YF-19, which is the most beautiful fighter ever, after the VF-0S of course. I also have two sets of the Valkyrie weapons set, and a set of Macross display stands. To be honest, those display stands rank up there amongst the list of my worst purchase decisions ever. They are fugly, and look absolutely ridiculous with the Valks mounted on them. I'm giving one to my friend, and I'm keeping one only for novelty purposes. Now all I need is a VF-11 from Hasegawa and I'll be very happy. I don't really care for the limited edition bullplop. The only reason I got the plated Strike Valk is I found it on sale for $4.99, and I'm keeping it mint in mint box. I actually considered scrapping it for parts once. David Hingtgen
I wouldn't describe the F-14 and MiG-29 as valks, nor do you need to specify they're molded in fighter mode. I doubt there'll be any "MiG-29 Battroid" kits for a while... Edited July 16, 2004 by David Hingtgen

Chronocidal
LOL.. wow.. makes my collection pale by comparison... I've got, I think 4 total out of that list, not counting the old Hasegawa Tomcat kit they made into a Macross kit. Just one each of the VF-22S, YF-19, YF-21, and the standard VF-1J. I wouldn't mind expanding a little, but the only way to get the kits where I am is online...the one place that has them near here wanted $40 for a VF-22S, so I went online and got both the YF-21 and VF-22S for that price. newca
no offence, but is that Metal Coated VF-1S very rare? I just grab 2 of them from ebay for $24 total, and it seems more of them available now... I don't really care about if it is rare, it's Hasegawa, it's Macross, so I like them.
ChristopherB
newca, If you take a look at my list, there are (2) different "metal" coated valkyries listed: Hasegawa 1/72 VF-1S Metal Plated Hasegawa 1/72 VF-1S Strike Metal Plated The rare kit, is the non-Strike variant. Yes, you are right in that you can still find the Strike kit on eBay for a pretty good price. The VF-1S non-Strike version is a different metal color (silver as opposed to champagne), and you could only get it via a mail away contest or something like that. Hence the high price. Here is a picture of the kit: Sincerely, Christopher
David Hingtgen
Anyone actually built a metal-plated VF-1 kit and decaled it? Some plated kits pretty much refuse to be decaled (Tamiya), I wonder if these do.
JLYC
when you cut the parts from the sprues, wouldn't it leave a mark that's not metallic finish where it was attached to sprue? also i guess you can't fill seams with putty without having to repaint right? ChristopherB
Valkyrie, Thanks, I totally forgot about that one. I'll update the list. Yes, the holy grail for completists. I should have remembered, because I recently obtained it from Blackaces, along with the VF-1S metal plated. The clear versions would have been better if Hasegawa had also included interior details, like avionics, propulsion and etc. Otherwise, I have no interest in ever building a clear kit. The metallic versions are definitely not realistic, but they might look cool if built properly and placed a distance from the properly painted and decaled kits. nemesis120
This might not count, but you don't have the special (well, not really) Battroid Parts. There supposedly (I'm not really a model person) were some problems on the VF-1 Battroid Valkyrie kit (not the super or strike) that were corrected on the later ones, and Hasegawa released parts to correct this (supposedly event only parts). ChristopherB
nemesis120, Thank you for posting the information. Yes, it definitely "counts." ChristopherB
Fellow Hasegawa Fans, I've updated the list, to include the following really rare item I recently found out about: Hasegawa 1/72 VF-0S "Metal Plated" Fighter Valkyrie, Limited Edition Please don't ask me who my source is, because I don't want any competition (), but apparently you could only get this kit by winning a contest. Does anyone have more information about the origin? I also added the VF-0A. I recently located a 2002 Hasegawa Calendar in mint condition from a fellow MW member, plus (3) Hasegawa Posters, and the (3) Clear Event Only kits from Blackaces. My thanks go to Rob (Monkey Nugget) for the event only Hasegawa Battroid Upgrade kit, which he bid on via Yahoo Japan for me. Major Johnathan
Thanks for posting the list. I only recently got the Hasegawa Macross fever. To be honest, my Macross mood goes dormant at times, but this relentless stream of beautiful Hasegawa kits is like a swift kick in the butt. I'm a model builder, but I've yet to clear my desk and just build one. And I do like just staring at all the pretty boxes... I mean, if I build one, it won't be in my unbuilt collection... I wonder what new releases are on the horizon? A VF-11 would be cool, Battroids of the Yf-19 & 21? Maybe they'll release all the Valks in Gerwalk form? ChristopherB
Hi Major Johnathan , I started collecting Hasegawa Macross kits for several reasons. 1.) They are affordable at around $15 to $25 per kit. 2.) They usually release no more than (1) new kit per month, which allows you to catch up on previous releases at the same time. 3.) As you mentioned, the boxes are beautiful. Each one is different, and they are a work of art. 4.) The quality of the kit itself is amazing. 5.) Awesome decals. 6.) It's fun trying to keep up with all of the rare items that you never knew existed. 7.) If you can get past just collecting them, their a lot of work/fun to build, and look great when displayed. 8.) All of the extra stuff you can buy is cool, such as the individually sold decal sets, photo-etched decal sets, weapon sets, display stands, and etc. I could go on, but I've probably bored everyone as it is.
