fansubs2000 Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 I gotta admit it, i love this song. How many different versions of this song exist? Are there many alternate versions, or remixes, etc... This is what i have on CD......... 1. Original version (from the "Macross: Complete" 3 CD set) 2. Instrumental version (from the "Macross: Complete" 3 CD set) 3. Macross 7 girl version (from the CD "Mylene Jenius sings Lynn Minmay" I also recorded her singing it live (Mari Ijima) at the Fanime Anime convention a few years ago. I have since recorded that to DVD-R. Are there any other versions of it out there? I'm such a fan of the song, i just want hear them all if they exist. Thanks! Quote
Renato Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 There's one sung by Ishtar, I think, on the Tribute CD, and also a recent Mari recording on the "Mari Iijima sings Lynn Minmay" CD, which an acoustic version with Mari on piano. Quote
UN Spacy Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 I also recorded her singing it live (Mari Ijima) at the Fanime Anime convention a few years ago.I have since recorded that to DVD-R. Whoa. Any chance we could see that vid? There's also a 15th Anniversary Edition. Quote
Renato Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 There's also a 15th Anniversary Edition. Is there? What CD is it on? My memory isn't that great, but you may be confusing it with the "Friends - Across the dimensions" single featuring both Tomo Sakurai and Mari. There were two versions released, one with a B-side by Tomo and one with one by Mari, which was a 15th anniversary edition of "Angels Paints", not DYRL. Quote

Gubaba Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 I don't know if this counts, but there's also the short version that's on the 2002 Song Collection. Quote
Renato Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 I don't know if this counts, but there's also the short version that's on the 2002 Song Collection. But isn't that just the normal, original version? Quote

Yeah, except the first long instrumental break is snipped out. I think it may have been the single version, but I'm not sure. Quote
areaseven Posted July 14, 2004 Posted July 14, 2004 From what I know: 1. Original Version (from OST, Macross Song Collection, Macross the Complete and Macross Song Collection 2002. Also available in the CDs Mari Iijima Gold and Emotion 20th Anniversary Theme Collection: OVA and Theatrical Films) 2. Mylene Jenius version (from Mylene Jenius Sings Lynn Minmay) 3. Yoko Ueno version (from Macross the Tribute) 4. Mari Iijima cover version (from Mari Iijima Sings Lynn Minmay) Quote
fansubs2000 Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 3. Yoko Ueno version (from Macross the Tribute) 4. Mari Iijima cover version (from Mari Iijima Sings Lynn Minmay) OK it looks like these are the versions i need to look for. Thanks so much for the info!! (fansubs2000 @ Jul 13 2004, 04:42 PM) I also recorded her singing it live (Mari Ijima) at the Fanime Anime convention a few years ago. I have since recorded that to DVD-R. Whoa. Any chance we could see that vid? Sure if you want! Well i can't upload it to the internet or anything like that. I don't think my old computer can do that. I could make copies on DVD-R if you guys wanted it. I didn't record the entire concert, just maybe 2 or 3 songs i think. (One being "Do you remember Love") Would anyone want to trade it for cd-r copies of: 3. Yoko Ueno version (from Macross the Tribute) 4. Mari Iijima cover version (from Mari Iijima Sings Lynn Minmay) ???? Quote
Renato Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Send it over to Shawn and he may put it on his upcoming DVD thing. Quote
nhyone Posted July 15, 2004 Posted July 15, 2004 Is this only for DYRL sung by Mari Ijima? I got a cantonese version, emailed to me by mistake (I think) from one of the board members. Not as good as the original, tempo's slightly slower, but kind of nice; low bitrate, though. Quote
fansubs2000 Posted July 15, 2004 Author Posted July 15, 2004 You guys wouldn't happen to know where i could find the Piano sheet music for DYRL would you? My girl knows how much i like the song, so she said if i find the sheet music, she will learn the song. She also "claims" she can sing it better then Minmay. I told her "yeah right"... I want to see her try though. I've tried searching online, but so far i can only find the Macross Plus sheet music, but not DYRL. Quote

That's the book and I can also vouche for DYRL's sheet music being IN there. I remember a couple of years ago when my brother used that book (and an old Windows MIDI program) to make a DYRL-midi file. T'was pretty cool. Quote
Hubert Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 it would be cool to have a version with the "we will win" lyrics on the DRYL music ... Quote

CF18 Posted July 16, 2004 Posted July 16, 2004 16 years ago, when DYRL was first shown in Hong Kong movie theaters in Cantonese dub, DYRL the song also got a Cantonese version: http://home4u.hongkong.com/entertainment/c...ie/ma1-chan.htm It was actually not bad, since the singer Prisillca Chan was already a skilled professional singer, not some random newbie. Sumdumgai Posted July 17, 2004 Posted July 17, 2004 From what I know:1. Mari Iijima cover version (from Mari Iijima Sings Lynn Minmay) Two new versions I just found today on the Anime Toonz Vol.2 cd 5) Ai Oboeteimasuka Nigel Richards Remix (vocals by Maria Kawamura) 6) Ai Oboeteimasuka DJ Seol Remix (vocals by Maria Kawamura) Sooooo... Ai Oboeteimasuka sung by the seiyuu of Naga the Serpent... She sounds a bit whiny on the second remix. I honestly can't recommend getting the cd unless you NEED to have another remix of Ai Oboeteimasuka... That techno beat or whatever the hell its called (I just call it a funky-funky-beat) just ruins all the songs. It was a real waste of good talent, like with Inoue Kikuko in volume 1. Quote
