UN Spacy Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 I'm sure Peter Jackson will follow the same route as he did with the release of The Fellowship of the Ring. First, he'll release a normal version with great extra's (8/26). Second, sometime during Christmas time he'll release the Director's Cut 4-DVD set with greater extra's. Quote
Abombz!! Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 I'm waiting for the 4 dvd edition. I might pick up the 2 dvd just to check the movie out as I have never seen it... then I will probably sell it. Quote
Keith Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Psst, why pick it up & sell it? Just rent it, much cheaper! I'm waiting for the extended edition, it's only 2-3 months until it's out, and the video quality is so much better. Quote

Because by the time it is out in Brazil..... the 4dvd edition will be out. And besides.... I don't have a R4 DVD player. Quote
Etrigan Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 I'm waiting for the DC edition. Can't really afford two copies of the same movie when I've got textbooks and valks to buy. Quote
Smiley424 Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Yeah, I'm waiting on the four-disc. I might pre-order over at amazon cuz they got it for $25 with free shipping Quote
Black_Viper Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 What are the chances once all three movies are out they will release a big ol box set for all of them? That's what i want. Quote
UN Spacy Posted August 21, 2003 Author Posted August 21, 2003 What are the chances once all three movies are out they will release a big ol box set for all of them? That's what i want. Knowing Peter Jackson we'll see some sort of 9 (or 12 or 15) Disc Extended Director's Cut DVD Set once the trilogy is over this December. It's gonna be HUGE! Quote
bandit29 Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 I'm buying both. I love this movie. Macross stuff can wait. Also the LOTR diorama sets from Play Along(who is affilated with Art Asylum) are just starting to come out. I saw these on display at Wizard World Chicago, very cool. Quote
vf1_soulja Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 I'll get the initial version, I'm not really interested in extras. Quote

Hes planning that it'll have all the extras the 3 director cut sets will have along with some more so im just goin to wait for that it'll most likely be out by the end of next year from what ive heard Hybridchild Quote
Hybridchild Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 I'll get the initial version, I'm not really interested in extras. The directors cut will be 45 minutes longer that more than a simple extra Hybridchild Quote
bob joe mac Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 rent the normal wait till the special one comes out in a few months then waste 16 hours of my life watching that. Quote
mikeszekely Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Not this Tuesday. I'll wait and see if there's another fancy pants edition. Besides, this week, gotta save the money for Soul Calibur II. Quote
Commander McBride Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 I'm gonna go for the Director's Cut set. I got the normal one last year, as soon as it came out, and than bought the big one just a little while later. WOn't make that mistake again. Quote
zorprimal Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Damn straight I'm going to get it. Look at my avatar for crying out loud. But not first thing though. Gotta wait for payday next month Quote
Dragon Lord Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Definitely going for the DC. My wallet could use the wait too. Joe P. Quote
the white drew carey Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 My biggest laugh was when people were whining and moaning once the extended edition of FOTR came out and they had already bought the first edition... EVEN THOUGH IT WAS WIDELY ADVERTISED THAT THERE WOULD BE TWO DIFFERENT RELEASES WAY BACK IN FEBRUARY!!! People make me laugh. I accidentally hit "null vote", but I meant to select the extended edition choice (because, as per Peter Jackson, it is not a "director's cut", since that implies what was shown in the theater is not what he wanted to release). Quote
cwbrown Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Both. Both. Both. How else can you be a LOTR fan than to get both? And the extended version has already been announced for release on November 18. The Gift Box has a Gollum statue in it this time around. And I'll probably even get the oversized complete 80 disc set that gets released after Return of the King gets its double treatment. Quote
Mr March Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 While it may seem stupid to get both the theatrical version and the extended set like I did with the first film, I can guarantee that in 10 years, I'll be wishing I had that that damn theatrical release. It always turns out that way, I want the stuff that I can't get anymore. Quote
UN Spacy Posted August 21, 2003 Author Posted August 21, 2003 Besides, this week, gotta save the money for Soul Calibur II. Ah.....same here. Which one are you going for? PS2? Gamecube? X-Box? I gotta have my favorite character - LINK! B) Quote
NSJ23 Posted August 21, 2003 Posted August 21, 2003 Man, I'm one of the very few that won't be getting this movie. Quote

Toonz Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 will get the director's cut. but then again, who knows they may just release the entire trilogy in one BIG package after the third installment...? maybe i'll just get the vcd to watch it first.....just to recap the whole event till the king returns Quote
Isamu Atreides 86 Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 getting them both. that was a badass movie. Quote
Hikaru Ichijo SL Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 I am waiting for the extended version. Quote
Bamboozal Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 I'll rent the edition coming out so I can get my Two Towers fix, then I'll wait for the Director's Cut and buy that. I was stupid last time and bought both the regular Fellowship and then, after much debate, the Director's Cut. <_< I have since learned my lesson. Quote
Jemstone Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 I'm getting both. I liked the extras more on the regular Fellowship DVD than the extended version. Quote
lebhead Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 i guess i'll just wait for the super duper extra cool version. Quote
bankrupt Posted August 22, 2003 Posted August 22, 2003 I don't even have the first one yet, but I'll pick them both up eventually. My money is actually going to go to the Simpsons Season 3 DVD set that is supposed to come the same day as The Two Towers DVD. Assuming they don't delay it yet again. Quote

Anyway I've had good luck getting good movies on my b-day, last time I did so I met a really great woman who was my GF for a while. Quote
