vf-1j Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 (edited) Hi everyone, I have been visiting this site for quite sometime but this is my first time posting anything! (Actually this is my first time using any messege board). The photos are some of my 1/200 Nichimo Collection (The re-issue version). Love them very much as I had some of these kits way back in my childhood years. Edited June 3, 2004 by vf-1j Quote
vf-1j Posted June 3, 2004 Author Posted June 3, 2004 still haven't got time to finish this one! Quote
vf-1j Posted June 3, 2004 Author Posted June 3, 2004 I had this one when I was a kid (of cos the one in the photo is a new one). Quote

Renato Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 (edited) I love the tiny Nichimos, they're great and you've really done them justice, they look nice. Are those the reissues? The reissue macross comes with both cruiser and storm attacker mode, I'd really like to see the latter, especially with the ground and Tokyo tower thrown in there. I have loads of them, but I've only made a few, I won't have time to make them again in the near future. Also, put a coin or something in there to show people just how small they really are. On the whole, awesome kits. Edited June 3, 2004 by Renato Quote
Sam Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 welcome nice, very clean build youve done. these guys also looked cool weathered a bit too, which is really fun imo always good for model posting to have ppl display work, its not done enough..., so keep it up Quote
Mervin Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Cool stuff! I've always wanted to get an SDF-1 but couldn't find them anymore Great work on the destroids. Here's one I did a year ago .... Quote
tetsujin Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Yay, Nichimo love! Mervin, excellent work on those hatches and missiles. VF-1J, those destroids are looking sharp (though you seem to have a bit of a raised seam on the Tomahawk's left leg). The markings aren't colored, but in the case of the Tomahawk that's looking surprisingly good, and the sticker work in general looks solid. The paint work on the Spartan is nice and clean, too. You ought to do something about the headlamp lens on the Tomahawk, though. I've done two Nichimos this year, my Regult and my Super Battroid: http://1-4-4.home.comcast.net/models/Works.../regult_02.jpeg http://1-4-4.home.comcast.net/models/Works...egult_size.jpeg I don't know if I have pics of the super battroid handy... it isn't "officially" finished as I still need to touch up the dullcoat. I had decals printed for my Nichimos, based on markings from other kits. (So far, just markings for some destroids and the Regult) - if anybody wants some, talk to Peter Savin at http://models4you.whoadude.com and tell him I sent you. I imagine he still has the decal sheet design that he made for me. Quote
Gabe Q Posted June 3, 2004 Posted June 3, 2004 Also, put a coin or something in there to show people just how small they really are. That's what the cigarette is for. Great work! Quote
vf-1j Posted June 4, 2004 Author Posted June 4, 2004 Thx guys! I'm not much of a painter and I don't have an airbrush! So I just sprayed these suckers with Tamiya spray-paints. I actually made small monifications to these kits mostly to ease the painting proceduces. I chopped the waist and placed those soft grey rubber "pc" thingy (anyone know what I'm talking about?) so I could spray the model top/bottom separately. I also covered up the screws with some extra model parts. If I have time I will take some more pics. Quote
vf-1j Posted June 4, 2004 Author Posted June 4, 2004 (edited) And btw, that is one hell of a great job u did there on the GBP armored 1J. Great work Mervin. My very first 1/200 kits was a 1S-armored from like 20 years ago. Got it as a christmax exchanged present from school. I'm selling a set of 20 of these 1/200 babes, any one interested can visit the link below: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=8584 Edited June 4, 2004 by vf-1j Quote

That headlamp has been bothering me for quite some while, but I'm too lazy to mask the thing and paint the lamp. Maybe I should just hand brush it in. And I couldn't decide on whether I should use silver or a light blue. btw, that Regult is awesome! love that paint job and the screw cover-up work u did. Quote

That headlamp has been bothering me for quite some while, but I'm too lazy to mask the thing and paint the lamp. Maybe I should just hand brush it in. And I couldn't decide on whether I should use silver or a light blue. If you decide to use silver, you could just coat the lens with adhesive-backed metal foil. It's available at most hobby shops and is one common way of making chrome-coated parts. Another option would be reflective safety tape. That provides a good "light source" illusion under the right conditions - and in situations where the tape doesn't get light at the proper angle, it'd just look sort of white. So you put some polycaps in your Nichimos? Nice. I definitely agree that it's nice to be able to break down the assembly to easier-to-paint pieces, so I do that sometimes. For the Regult and Battroid I didn't (partly because I wanted to get them done quickly, partly because I wanted to use them to practice methods any beginner would be able to use) but I trimmed off enough of the kit-supplied pegs on certain parts (like the thruster housings on the Regult, arms on the battroid) so I could still pull them off after plugging them in. Gordon Smuder Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Wow! I finally found some Nichimo 1/200 Macross fans! I love these tiny kits. I had a bunch of them back in the mid 1980's when japanese kits were flooding into the US. I bought them for $1.98 each! I wish I still had those original kits. I've been spending myself silly replacing them now! 🙃 Anyway, if anyone is selling or trading, please let me know! Quote
