The_Major Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 Alright, ive seen the obvious tallent that is floating around these forums, and now i would like to put some of that tallent to work, so to speak. I am the lead for the Macross DYRL? Mod for Homeworld 2, and we are in dire need of Low Poly Modlers and Texture Artists, the texture artists are what is needed the most. If anyone would like to help out, post here or PM me, thanks in advance for any help gained from the community. P.S. I am also posting this in the Games thread, as it also seems an appropriate thread for this post Quote
Chronocidal Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 What kind of textures do you need? I may be able to help if with drawing them if the process isn't too complex. But I don't have Homeworld, so I wouldn't be able to do much else. Quote
The_Major Posted May 23, 2004 Author Posted May 23, 2004 well, all we need is someone to draw and apply the textures to the models we will convert them to HW2 format after that (that isnt hard with our tools) Quote
Cdr Fokker Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 Preferably, the modelers need to have and be able to use Maya. I don't really have the time anymore to mess around with importing, fixing things, prepping for export, and exporting... Alfie is pretty busy as well, so we need Maya people! Go to the forums - http://www.doc34thfist.com/macross - for examples of the models and textures we have in-game and in-progress Quote
Cdr Fokker Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 ...we will convert them to HW2 format after that (that isnt hard with our tools) Major, when's the last time you converted models and textures to HOD format? While it isn't hard, it is rather time consuming to get everything set up, prep the model and textures, export, tweak, re-export, etc And those of us on the team who formerly did conversions (i.e., basically the only ones capable at the moment) are pretty busy now... Aye, i realize that but i didnt want to scare off any potential texturers :-p, and if need be, i do have maya and the reconfigured tools and i can muddle around in it with the relic docs untill i get it to work :-p who knows maybe there is someone around here who has extensive experiance with maya 3 (i wish) Quote
Cdr Fokker Posted May 23, 2004 Posted May 23, 2004 who knows maybe there is someone around here who has extensive experiance with maya 3 (i wish) Maya 5 is way better than 3, and the Relic tools were compiled for 5 as well (though not "officially"). It'd be much better to have more people who know, use, and have Maya 5.0.1. And the Relic docs suck when it comes to getting a number of things set up in Maya to export... they aren't very clear at all, and skip over essential little points that you need to know. Actually, most of the relic docs suck. The FX Tool ones are okay... so much of the art pipeline documentation is tips and techniques - most of which are totally unneeded/outdated now. Quote
Mr March Posted May 27, 2004 Posted May 27, 2004 I think its a great idea and hope you fellas find help. Now, if you ever want someone to film a behind the scenes documentary on your mod project, I'm your man Quote
