insyir4h Posted May 16, 2004 Posted May 16, 2004 hi. i am new to modelling and i've got some questions about glueing plastics. I've been using those CA type glues which dries really fast like 10-15 seconds. The problem is, when gluing difficult parts like the fuselage of a plane, fast drying glues are a pain to work with because i need time to move the parts around for an accurate fit, and CA glue won't let me do that. So, what are your recommendations to solve this problem? All suggestions welcome. Thanks. Quote
Akula Posted May 16, 2004 Posted May 16, 2004 If you need time to move it around... I would suggest the Testors stuff in the orange tube... I have recently moved to something called Tennax-7... it's pretty fast evaporating, but works good. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted May 16, 2004 Posted May 16, 2004 Testor's orange tube: stringy. Evil stuff, IMHO. Certainly slow and strong, but leaves strings everywhere, even a brand new tube. Tenax--evaporates FAST. It's like acetone that way. Freaks me out, honestly. It's like "evaporates so fast you can't smell it" but you know there's SOMETHING in it, because it affects your nose somewhat like CA... But many people swear by it. I'm currently investigating the thinner "normal glues". BTW--I mainly use the Testor's liquid in the black plastic bottle, and I think wm_cheng does too. Quote
