Excillon Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Mega Force! tiny diecast tanks, planes, choppers & convertible giant vehicles w/ spring-loaded gimmicks these were great for waging war on the dining table wish i had a small country's worth of these things. I remember those! They rocked...I only had a couple of them, but I loved em. I used to use them as micromaster bases. Quote
Gubaba Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Silverhawks were at least better than Thundercats though... at least the theme song was better. And didn't they use guitars to pilot their...er...bird airplane..things? Pete I dunno...the "partly metal, partly real" line in the Silverhawks theme song confused me as a kid. The fact that everybody in the show "fell" "down" in space confused me, also. As for underrated toy lines, I remember when I was VERY young, I had these three toys (and I think that's all they ever made) that were vehicles, but looked like insects. The two good guys looked like a dragonfly and a scorpion, and the bad guy looked like a spider. I thought they were very cool, and I really loved them...until my grandparents' dog chewed up the scorpion. Quote

Gubaba Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 Sectaurs? No, but you inspired me to turn to Google and I found 'em... Ladies and Gentlemen, the fabulous MEGABUG GLADIATORS: http://www.toyarchive.com/MegaBug.html Predictably, they don't look half as cool as I remember them being. Quote
Excillon Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I don't remember Megabug gladiators...eh, looks like I didn't miss much. I was looking on there, and I also remembered Dino riders and Dinosaucers. dinosaucers was the worst cartoon ever, next to Captain Planet and I even thought that back then. Oh god...Captain Planet. Someone shoot Ted Turner for that one... Quote
theplasticwerks Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 Xevoz, from Hasbro. Also from Hasbro, GI Joe SIGMA 6. Not obscure, but tend to be underrated. I just love the bold styling of the figures, plus the flexibility of customization. Quote
danth Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 I always like the Ertl Force One die-cast fighter jets with removable missiles and retractable landing gear. I imagine they were around 1/100 scale. Check them out here. Quote
reddsun1 Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 anybody remember Battle Beasts? I just liked some of them because their armor looked Robotech-inspired. In hindsight, one could say: inspired by Robotech-'borrowed' designs from Dougram/etc for their model line... Quote
DarrinG Posted August 24, 2009 Posted August 24, 2009 (edited) I dug Battle-Beasts - they were great. I have not read this whole thread but I doubt these were listed: Sectaurs Have the whole set somewhere, although the hive is pretty beaten up . . . Edited August 24, 2009 by DarrinG Quote
Scream Man Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Sky Commanders were awesome. I had strings running all over my bedroom for weeks! GI Joe was pretty obscure in AUstralia Silverhawks were awesome Marshall Bravestar was an awesome toy. Recently: Saint Seiya Myth Cloth - I have only met 1 person who has even heard of them in person. Sure online they're more well known, but they're unique to me! GI Joe Sigma 6 - Never released in AUstralia, so all mine were imported. In fatc i wasnt going to get the line until a dude I knew on thefwoosh.com kept telling me how good they were, and eventually bought me a set of the first figures and sent them to me, syaing 'You'll pay me back when you have them" He was right! Excillon Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Anyone remember Crystar? The guys were translucent, and looked like they were made of Crystal. There were blue ones, green ones, I think red ones... Quote
areaseven Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Technically, I'd put Zoids on this list, as it's been screwed over in the US over the past 20+ years. Quote
Kanedas Bike Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Anybody mention Visionaries, Knights of the Magical Light yet? -b. Quote
CoryHolmes Posted August 26, 2009 Posted August 26, 2009 Anybody mention Visionaries, Knights of the Magical Light yet? -b. Curses! You just beat me to it! I still watch the Visionaries to this day, which is more than I can say for any other 80s cartoon. Forget TF and GI Joe, Visionaries deserves to be remade as a film Quote
DarrinG Posted July 13, 2012 Posted July 13, 2012 Putting my Sectaurs up for auction - after about a million years in storage (http://www.ebay.com/...9#ht_1368wt_883) Googling to find pricing info I discovered there was a TV show! Wish I had not found this - what garbage! Is that Optimus Prime doing Mantor's voice?!? Toys were awesome though! This makes BraveStarr look good... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8bTNjP2fJ9E&feature=related Quote
Frogze Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) This is probably one of the coolest toy commercials ever made : and the 80 also spawned this gem of a toy : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u6V-tuOf3dE Edited July 15, 2012 by Frogze Quote
Ghost Train Posted July 15, 2012 Posted July 15, 2012 Mega Force! tiny diecast tanks, planes, choppers & convertible giant vehicles w/ spring-loaded gimmicks these were great for waging war on the dining table wish i had a small country's worth of these things. I remember this one as well. I had the giant blue plane with the little fighter plane attached on top. Quote
