areaseven Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 http://www.animecrash.com/ The site is still under construction, but notice what it says on the front page. Talk about getting ahead of themselves... And their first offer to us is a Korean/Japanese series called Geisters: Fractions of the Earth, coming next month to stores. Sounds too much like another company's mascot. Quote
bsu legato Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 Talk about getting ahead of themselves... No kidding. An Evangelion for a new millennium An Akira for a new era... Hmmph...they must use the same ad agency as Toynami. Quote
GRAND CANNON Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 Haven't they been around for a while? I thought they were out of NY and they used to have a store here in MASS (Harvard Square) up until a few years ago. All I get on the link is a Title page... Quote
GRAND CANNON Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 Hmmmmmm check this out (didn't read the whole thing, though).... http://www.ymakadomain.com/crash.html Quote
areaseven Posted May 7, 2004 Author Posted May 7, 2004 Hmmmmmm check this out (didn't read the whole thing, though)....http://www.ymakadomain.com/crash.html That sounds too familiar to us MWers. Quote
Anubis Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 To compare something unheard of before Eva and Akira is a bold statement. Sounds rather generic in any case as well. Last thing we need is another a-hole company. Seriously, who gives a crap about a small little RPG group. What would they have to gain shutting them down? If anything, they would have the prior art anyway. No business for Anime Crash. Quote
Jemstone Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 I thought Anime Crash was out of business forever. Or is this a new company of the same name? Quote
areaseven Posted May 7, 2004 Author Posted May 7, 2004 I thought Anime Crash was out of business forever. Or is this a new company of the same name? According to the link posted by GRAND CANNON, Anime Crash was acquired by foreign film distributor Crash Cinema (Golgo 13: The Kowloon Assignment). Quote
the white drew carey Posted May 7, 2004 Posted May 7, 2004 Hmmmmmm check this out (didn't read the whole thing, though)....http://www.ymakadomain.com/crash.html Well, this guy kind of screwed up by backing down and giving up www.animecrash.net. It's well-documented, as he states, that domain names come on a first come, first serve basis. If he didn't want to give up animecrash.net he didn't have to (his hosting company should've known this, too). The only way Anime Crash could've won that battle is if 1) He backed down (which he did), or 2) Paid him for the address (which he should've done). His loss. Quote
Wes Posted May 8, 2004 Posted May 8, 2004 I find it funny that their tiny logo on the bottom reminds me of Mangle's Quote
justvinnie Posted May 8, 2004 Posted May 8, 2004 Usually new business ventures try to achieve a good public image. This company does it the other way around. Do they believe that bully some unknown and insignificant anime RPG group will help their business? Stupid. vinnie Quote
Shin Densetsu Kai 7.0 Posted May 8, 2004 Posted May 8, 2004 yopu have been warned. THAT OUR PRODUCTS WILL SUCK! animeCRASH n burn baby! Quote

Seriously, for someone wanting to wage a 'war' against some asshoel company, backing down all the time isn't gonna help. Just because he doesn't want his host to get in trouble, doesn't mean he doesn't have to hodl on to the name. Hell, host it with www.portalofevil.com, last i checked they welcomed websites that would otherwise get banned/kicked off/sued by other companies. Quote
Radd Posted May 8, 2004 Posted May 8, 2004 They both seem like schmucks. The company for trying to bully others around with groundless threats that they could in no way back up, and the guy running the roleplay group for letting them. He says the war isn't over, but he gave them everything they wanted and now he's waving around a petition that's about as meaningless as the company's groundless posturing. Quote
