I read this at the aeug.blogspot thing.

MAcross 0 got the best OVA award at the tokyo international anime fair!

So I take it its gotta be doing reasonably well. I mean gundam seed got best animation series tv for the year and macross 0 got best OVA...its gotta be good to hear!

Posted

It´s really good to hear that!

It can only mean MORE macross products

I want toys and a new series (are you listening Shoji?)

Posted

I bow down to the almighty Hory Froating Head.

Congrats to Kawamori Shoji and crew for giving us more Macross to enjoy.

B)):p:D Zero is such a strong series.....they deserve it.

Posted

Damn , you beat me to it.

Yeah , we already knew this a long time ago.

For Macross Zero to get this award together with a super production like the Animatrix is a really relevant sign of how vanguardist Macross is in the animation industry.

Old news, but still cool :)

Rock on, Hory Froating Head!!!

Thanks for posting... I missed it the first time. It is really not surprising, MZero rocks.

What other OVAs came out last year? The format is all but dead, so I don't think it had much competition.

Well, there was 'Queer Eye for The Fighter Pilot'......sorry, 'Yucky-kaze' :p and er...........?

Well, there must have been other OVAs? :o

So it actually won over a super production such as the Animatrix and evena GUNDAM production :ph34r::blink::ph34r::blink:

Now that´s what I call pedigree ;)

Seems each of the Animatrix segments were judged separately... and the Animatrix bits really weren't that much to speak of, with the most worthy segments being the two Second Rennassance clips.

Gundam Evolve was really more of a animation OAV. There was no story behind them. The series was more eye candy than anything else so I'm not surprised if it did beat out Gundam Evolve.

SUCK THAT KIKAIDER!

macross 0 rules I agree agent. I duno bout you guys but that seems like a list of GOOD competing OVA's. So I fail to see how its dead.

I said, "all but dead." The fact is that fewer and fewer OVAs are getting made every year. In the late eighties and early nineties, it wasn't uncommon for over a hundred OVA releases in a single year. The reasons why, at least from my understanding, is that with the crash of the Japanese bubble economy, people aren't spending as much on anime releases (and OVAs can be very expensive, usually being only 1 episode per disc and often costing $50.00 or $60.00 for just one disc or even $100 back in the LD days). Also, the existance of satelite stations dedicated to anime, like WOWOW, allow shows to be aired that in the past would have been released as OVAs.

I actually like Shin Hokuto no Ken (new Fist of the North Star) more than M Zero but oh well. Too bad there's only going to be 3 episodes. But they are close to an hour long.

Did Yukikaze win for most f'ed up story lol(I've only seen 1 & 2)? For some reason the dub made me like the show more

Agreed, the 2nd Renaissance chapters were the best in storytelling and great in animation.

Rahxephon was a good OVA. Gundam Seed I have yet to watch, but it looks great as well. For Mac 0 to do so well, they're definitely doing something right. I just wish it didn't take so damn long to come out between releases. UGH!!!

Was there a RahXephon OVA?

I was under the impression there was only a TV series and a movie.

Graham

The OVA "Interlude" came with the Rahxephon PS2 game.

It's still downloadable online since it isn't licensed - http://a.scarywater.net/solar/RahXephon%20...%5D.avi.torrent

Its basically a monologue between Quon...and....herself....or...whatever she is trying to convey....

Very Eva-ish. QUestions her existence. Decides she is who she is. She is Quon. SHe wants to be herself...blablabla......3rd impact happens.
