Re-issue Liu Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 the story since about 7~8 years ago, I get a Retppu's soft vinyl VF-4 kit, and I immeditely start a plan for made this kit's silicon mold to cast them. but in the process I find some parts(espacially wing parts) are very thin and almost no detial over them, so I use Monogram's F-16XL rudder part modify to fit VF-4's main wing, new-made laser canons part.......etc. Those modify and refine work spend my 2 months, so when I finished mold, I must be to prepare my master degree and paper, I just only stocking those mold into my cupboard. Then.........whe I fininshed my paper and obtain master degree, I forget which cupboard I stocking them! and..........in fact, I am really difficult for search them from my livingroom.(the reason guys can view I post on Hobbyfan fourm, title "Hn...My warehouse(living room) " (http://community.hobbyfan.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=865&highlight=&sid=5101bac176e445c07c931746a2745b55) 2 months ago, for Taiwan Msater megazine's game, I clear out lot kits from my workdesk, unexpectedly I found VF-4 molds in a corner of a cupboard near workdesk. So. I start to casting those parts, first batch parts look great, but second batch appear some gushy, because silicon are become aging........ I am already casting parts for 3 sets, but no a part for cockpit and nose because this part's mold was losted. By now, for get a full set parts can complete VF-4, I must be made a new mold for lost part. Why I post this message? because although parts has some gushy, but those faults I just spend some basic model skill can recover and I can get parts to complete 3 VF-4 I need. But I think about maybe some MACROSS fans need this VF-4, too. so I psot this message on MACROSSWOrld fourm and Hobbyfan's, if you guys will interest to get this item, I will satrt made all new mold for all parts of VF-4. or I just made a mold for lost part. If you guys will instrest to get this VF-4, I wiil use highest quality epoxy resin to cast, because this level epoxy almost no contractility and great material strength, in fact, my cast work use it usually, almost never use normal cast resin. Because the epoxy resin will some cheaper then cast resin I use, so by my rough compute for totally material cost(epoxy and silicon), will need about $25 to maximal $30 for one set, fee wage, but need minimal shipping cost. Someguys are instrest for get this, please e-mail me and I will reply you to confirm. Well, how about guys feel? shold I made all new mold for VF-4? Quote

Neova Posted April 29, 2004 Posted April 29, 2004 (edited) Interesting... 1) What scale is this kit? 2) Fighter only correct? 3) Do you have pictures of the original kit and if possible, compare both in quality. I want to see some comparisons shots to a Club M 1/72 VF-4 Fighter kit also. 4) will you clean up the excess flash before sending it out? Your price is good but in this day and time, re-casting has advanced a lot especially locally from where I'm at right now. Local price is competitive too so I actually expect a little more. But your kit is unique thus my interests. Keep casting and keep modeling! Edited April 29, 2004 by Neova Quote
Re-issue Liu Posted April 29, 2004 Author Posted April 29, 2004 (edited) Dear Neova: 1) What scale is this kit? ----- it is 1/72 like BlackACE said. 2) Fighter only correct? ----- and only fighter mode. 3) Do you have pictures of the original kit and if possible, compare both in quality. I want to see some comparisons shots to a Club M 1/72 VF-4 Fighter kit also. ----- I can shot original parts and mine, but I only own Retppu's, in fact, I am find Club-M, too. 4) will you clean up the excess flash before sending it out? ----- sure! almost parts in shots are for explan to my mold are become aging, so appear some flashes, if some guys need this kit, I will re-made all new silicon mold, to re-made or not, this is my main question. Keep casting and keep modeling! <---I like this Edited April 29, 2004 by Re-issue Liu Quote

Re-issue Liu Posted April 30, 2004 Author Posted April 30, 2004 Dear Myersjessee "Very nice work. Not sure why that second batch came out bad...thats odd." Because silicon was become aginged, it was became like a plastic eraser, easy to broken, so first batch parts very good condition, but some slicon fragments are shed out, make since second batch parts have flashes Wow, you have both Club-M and Retppu, I can not find Club-M in my place Quote
