Neova Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 I was looking at kits the other day and came upon Acadamy's 1/48 Mig 29 UB Trainer for a ridiculous price. But I'm not sure of the model used in M:Zero. Anybody have some pointers? David? Quote
Macross_Fanboy Posted April 26, 2004 Posted April 26, 2004 I'm pretty sure the one in Macross Zero is the A version. The Hasegawa kit with the Anti-UN decals is a MiG-29A. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 (edited) I'm going to need GOOD pics to determine the exact type. (Show me the rudders, that's where a lot of the subtle differences are) There's about 5 types of A's, not many B's, several C's, etc. And then there's the Naval variants... Russia has been known to "produce more variants than airframes" some years, and the MiG-29 is no exception. If only there was a Fujimi MiG-29, then we'd know. PS--whatever it is, it's not a MiG-29UB. Those are two-seaters. Edited April 27, 2004 by David Hingtgen Quote

Those are two-seaters. Hmm, I though you'd have built this kit, David. What attracted me most to the kit was the real purdy illustration and the fact that I love the MiG-29. Besides the Sniper, what other MiG-29 variants did Hasegawa release?? I'm trying to find a store with a 1/48 MiG-29, shoot, I'll paint the Anti-UN symbol on it if I have to. Hmm....when should I start on my new 1/48 Tomcat....I'm afraid of wrecking it. The store where I get my model kits now only has American aircraft and is mostly packed with Testors paint and brushes. David Hingtgen Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 I meant I know neither the kit, nor the "real" plane. I need pics of both, to determine what exact variant the Hase kit is, and what the M0 version is. Quote
Macross_Fanboy Posted April 27, 2004 Posted April 27, 2004 OH! Hmm, lemme see if I can get a screen cap. Quote

I'd love to have a nice 1/48 scale Mig 29 (any variant) to build and display alongside my Academy 1/48 SU-27UB. (which IMHO is a beautiful kit...has nice *finely* engraved panel lines and rivets, photo-etched detail parts, and scalemaster decals). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Melissa Quote
Macross_Fanboy Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 I just want to find a store in my area that has it!!! Quote
David Hingtgen Posted April 28, 2004 Posted April 28, 2004 What I could find: http://www.vodnik.republika.pl/pages/mig29/mig29_review.htm http://216.110.156.31/mig29kit.htm Also, note that probably the most distinctive thing about MiG-29's are their "double" exhaust nozzles. Look here: http://s96920072.onlinehome.us/ISL/Cutting...48030/48030.htm PS---*tons* of Russian aircraft info--both real and models: http://216.110.156.31/russian.htm Quote
Damian Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Hi All! just my 2cents worth, I'm busy with the Academy kit right now...hopefully I'll get it finnished some time soon. Just a word of advice though, you have to get at least a replacement seat or IMHO get a replacement cockpit set (Neomega makes one). Overall its a good kit and I've had fun building it... Cheers Damian Quote
Damian Posted May 3, 2004 Posted May 3, 2004 Heehee... The above pic is the cockpit with a SOL seat...the next one is the over-all kit...sanding will be needed! Quote
