The Sci Fi channel announced several of their new shows for 2004 and 2005, confirming earlier suggestions that they were producing a live action TV-series based on With Hunter Robin. As was stated on Anime Nation in January, Roy Lee and Doug Davison, jointly reponsible for the American Ring remake, will executive produce the TV series. Anime Nation also stated that Joe Menosky, writer and producer for numerous Star Trek series, would write the series and also executive produce it, we don't yet have confirmation of this, nor do we know how many episodes the series will run or when it will air.

Why? wasn't Buffy enough?

Yay. A boring anime is going to be made into a boring live action show. I cant wait.

Personally I loved it, but each to their own I guess. <_<

Why? wasn't Buffy enough?

Apparently not, and neither was Angel seeing as both shows are/about to be finished. The live action WHR series would arrive just in time to fill that void for Buffy/Angel fans I believe.

I was so ready to see WHR. Then I watched the series on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim and evne fansubs at the same time. I really wanted to like the series but its presentation was bad in my opinion, didn't care for any of the characters and really disliked Robin a lot. I didn't care for the direction or the message it was trying to get across.

I quite enjoyed the WHR anime, although I found the pacing was a little slow at times.

I have absolutely no interest to see a live action version of it though. As I've stated before, I just don't understand this obsession with turning all things anime into live action <_<

Hey, The Ring was cool.

The Ring, Ringu, Ringu II, Ringu 0, and whatever else they had all sucked. I'm glad that was just a passing fad. If some chick came outta my tv, I'd beat her ass. (unless I was watchin a porno or somethin) :)

As for Witch Hunter Robin, I think it would be ok if they did it right. I actually said that they should do this like, 2 days ago at a friends place. But I'd rather they did a live-action Big O with Christian Bale as Roger Smith. Since he's doing Batman, it would be easy to step into the shoes of The Negotiator! :D

I enjoyed the Ring, I didn't really like WHR

Is anyone else reminded of that Simpsons "reality parody" episode.

Female Producer - We need fresh new ideas to breath new life into the show. Quick, everyone put out their mini-TVs and scan!

I'm with Grahm. This is completely unnecessary. What can live action do that animation can't? What's more, with WHR, there's not even an original source to reinterpret because it started as an anime. If there was a novel or a manga before hand, I could at least halfway understand wanting to transition it to television from a different angle. It sounds to me like the f*cktards who run the Skiffy channel are creatively bankrupt.

As with a good number of people here, I also don't feel the need for a Live-Action WHR.

But, I'm not willing to write off the possibility that a Live-Action WHR would be actually good.. the anime had elements that IMO would sit well within a well directed series. Suspense, Occult, Action, Intrigue.. the possibility is there.

If the budget only allows for either Live-Action or Season 2, I would go for Season 2 in a heartbeat. Otherwise, I think the Live-Action folks should be given the opportunity to experiment.

Of course, if they screw up, I'll personally deep-six the tapes, with the cast and crew to accompany the tapes! :)

WHR has the potential to be a succesful americanised series. Its quite a cliche in the comics, novels and gaming world about a secret organisation which handles supernatural occurences behind the shadows, but never was there one in the movies and tv. Buffy had one and the closest movie to it was MIB which was aliens.

I say, throw in some chicks and some hunks, write some X-File-ly scripts for the episodes, and you'd probably get the next hit series. Nobody has to know it was an anime. Besides, the anime series was meh.....didn't like it.
