Skull Leader Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 "The Unsung War" is awesome in Latin. Kind of sucks when you realize they're just repeating the same 3 verses over and over though. Yeah, all it tells is the same story Genette tells in English "When history ("historia") witnesses a great change, Razgriz reveals itself ("revealati sum"). First ("Primo"), as a Dark Demon. As a demon it reigns death upon the land, and then it dies ("Morde"), but after a period of slumber ("Moritum"), Razgriz returns, this time as a great Hero" I'm working on an aftermarket set of "Razgriz" markings for an F-14A (I'll probably throw the different stuff on there for a B also, there not very different), I should have them worked out by the end of February. David Hingtgen Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 You know, the X-29's SP colors are the demonstrator colors. Just buy the Hasegawa kit, and tell everyone it's from AC5. Quote
Akilae Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Order hereI got mine right before Xmas. Been listening to it a lot at work (even now as we speak). 4 discs, each about an hour long. Discs 1 - 3 contains the BGM from the campaign mode, with Disc 4 featuring the arcade mode music and music from the movies. 2 unreleased tracks on disc 3 featuring symphonic renditions of 2 of the main themes from the game. Disc 4 also has Puddle of Mudd's "Blurry" to round out the soundtrack. Each disc is silkscreened with the CG character in flight suit from War Dogs (Bartlett, Nagase, Davenport, and Grimm). Really hard to make a best of CD out of all 4 discs for the car, there are just so many excellent tracks. drat, I was thinking of just ripping the music from the game files... guess I'll have to buy it now just for the symphonic renditions... Skull Leader Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Well, a site existed that contained the entire soundtrack in MP3 format, but it has since been shut down (I was lucky to grab the whole affair before it went under) Quote
David Hingtgen Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 GameMusic.com just got it in today! http://www.gamemusic.com/cgi-bin/WebObject...d=10163&did=101 Ordering from the US is usually easier/quicker. (And yes, this is the real, official, actual release) Quote
Gaijin Posted February 1, 2005 Posted February 1, 2005 Awesome, I just ordered it! Thanks David! Quote

I'd take that guy clubbing just for laughs. Quote

do not disturb Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 sorry to drag this old thread up from the dead but i actually had a question about AC04 but didn't want to start a new thread. i've checked all the gaming sites and theres no info on how to get that last slot unlocked. i've beaten this game to death in the last few days but i can't seem to unlock the very last fighter(not the one that looks like the YF-19). anyone know what i gotta do? i've beat this on every level(twice on Ace) but that last fighter has been eluding me. David Hingtgen Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 Shoot down the aces in every level, in an actual play-through (not free mission), on hard. Also helps to have an S on every mission (can use free mission for this). (There's still AFAIK no consensus on EXACTLY what the minimum requirements are, but this'll almost certainly do it) Quote

(There's still AFAIK no consensus on EXACTLY what the minimum requirements are, but this'll almost certainly do it) how did i know you'd be the one who would be able to answer my question. so doing this would unlock the very last fighter? the very last slot? its not a fluke or anything like that where the slot was put in there by accident? sorry for the silly questions but i've owned this game for like 2 years, and never played it til this past thursday. since, i've been playing it like a maniac, i had no idea it was going to be this good. David Hingtgen Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 Now that I think about it, I think you can actually do considerably less than that. Merely unlocking the X-02 isn't that hard, it's getting the 2nd and 3rd colors that requires all the aces, etc. X-02's are like 2 million bucks each I think, took me more than 1 entire playthrough to get enough cash for each of the special colors. Though IMHO, getting the 3rd Su-37 color is hardest of all, last thing I got. Quote
hellohikaru Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 I think you do need to get all S at hard level to get the X-02 Switchblade. The white X-02 paintscheme requires all S at Ace level and that is freakin hard. Quote
GRAND CANNON Posted March 29, 2005 Posted March 29, 2005 I still can't get that dang Falken!! --Played the correct missions in Free Mission mode.... --Levelled the appropriate buildings... --Played through a Campaign mission... --Go to buy it on the next mission and NUTHIN' !!!! Quote

The white X-02 paintscheme requires all S at Ace level and that is freakin hard. i unlocked a lot of the paint jobs but still the X2 eludes me. i've been strictly playing on "ace" level....could that be the reason why i can't open that last fighter? maybe i should play the game through on "hard" instead? heres a stupid question.... how do you get the "S" ranking? cause i literally blew up everything on every single board(even the "named pilot" on each level) and i still got a "A" ranking on some of the levels? Haterist, try getting all the red orange targets first. All of them. That should help out a lot. Some of them are hard to get to but they are worth killing for the points. And try killin off those FAST. Then kill everything else as fast as possible to score as many kills before the mission times out. Quote
do not disturb Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 so after a 8 hour session of AC04 til 3 in the morning, i almost got all "S" rankings on Ace. just two more levels(whiskey corridor and megalith) and i should have all the planes and all the paint schemes, then i'm off to buy AC05! Quote

David Hingtgen Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 I never got S on Ace for Whiskey Corridor. Mission is just so LONG to try over and over. Still got every scheme though. Quote
do not disturb Posted March 30, 2005 Posted March 30, 2005 I never got S on Ace for Whiskey Corridor. Mission is just so LONG to try over and over. Still got every scheme though. well i think? i found the secret to getting the S rating. basically don't go after the "named" fighter pilot until you get the A rating shown on your HUD first, then go hunt down the named pilot. you get the S ranking once you shoot him down. i tried going after the pilot first, then blowing everything up but you end up getting only a A rating when its all said and done. well thanks for the help you guys, maybe i'll get to pilot that last fighter tonight....not that it'll matter cause i've killed this game already. do not disturb Posted April 5, 2005 Posted April 5, 2005 back from the dead yet again....heres a new question for you guys, anyone got some nice screen shots of the X-02? or know where i can find some? i tried to google it but all i get is a bunch of sites pushing cheat codes...no screen shots of any of the fighters. the reason why i'm asking is, i want to build a nice detailed one out of lego. BTW, i got S rankings from normal all the way to ace now. killing the ace pilots unlocks each of the paint schemes, the S ranking across the board unlocks the 2 left over X-02 colors. Quote

Graham Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Help! I'm stuck on mission # 15, the one where you have to rescue Nagase. Just how do you stop the rescue helicopter from getting shot down? I must have played this mission 20 times so far using many different combinations of planes. No matter how many enemy planes and ground units I destroy before locating Nagase, I still can't keep the helicopter from getting shot down. Is there a trick to completing this mission? Getting so frustrated that I'm close to giving up on this game. Graham Quote
R_Deckard Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 I'm pretty sure you have to escort the helicopter. If I remember right there are some enemies that will attack the helicopter so don't leave it alone, make sure to stay close to it and destroy any enemies firing on the helicopter first. Quote
Graham Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Tried that, but to take out the enemies that are attacking the helicopter, you still have to leave the helicopter to pursue them and shoot them down. Even if it only takes a few seconds to chase and destroy the attacking enemy, in that time the helicopter gets shot down. Maybe, I'm just getting too old and slow. Graham Quote
Valkyrie Hunter D Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Graham, IIRC, there's couple of Apaches that creep up on the rescue chopper while some fighter planes close in as well as some mobile SAMs and AAAs. Those Apaches are what kept shooting the rescue chopper in my case. Aside from looking out for the Apaches, I say just keep a tight circle around the rescue party. Quote
mikeszekely Posted May 2, 2006 Author Posted May 2, 2006 Haterist, according to the strategy guide for Ace Combat 4, you have to have an S on all the missions on at least normal to unlock the X-02, and on expert or higher to unlock the enemy version. In both scenarios, the X-02 won't unlock until your third time through. And Graham, Ace Combat 5 doesn't play like 4. In 4, you knew your time limit, and could do pretty much whatever you want as long as you completed the mission objectives before that time limit ran out. And that usually meant shooting all the targets. In 5, just because you see a timer doesn't mean whatever you're defending can't be destroyed before the timer runs out. And, it isn't always necessary to eliminate an enemy. As you said, when you try to stick close to the helicopter, attacking planes will draw you off if you want to down them. Simple solution... don't chase them. As long as you get them to break off from attacking the helicopter, you don't need to actually shoot the target. Quote
