EXO Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 That's just awesome! Can we get more pics of different angles? Congrats!!! Quote
LocoMacross Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 That was AWESOME!!!!! There is any guide to build those? Quote
the white drew carey Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 That's really cool. Now make a jet-powered one!!! Quote
tom64ss Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 That's really cool.... Bad ass... Hey! I thought we all agreed that "awesome" was the only adjective we'd use to describe it. Quote
ewilen Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 How did you achieve pitch stablity/control without horizontal stabilizers/elevators? BTW, awesome! Quote
Sundown Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Neeato. What's amusing is that the RC model happens to fly in the herky jerky, twitchy way the VF-1's animated. Nice coincidence. =) -Al Quote
Noyhauser Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Uhh thats just insane how well it flies! Wow I wish I had the skills to build something like that. AWESOME!!!! If you have watched this famous Japan Cartoon, you may know what I am taking about Uhh I think I have seen it once or twice or 55,000 times. (sorry I couldn't resist) Quote
Grayson72 Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 (edited) Hey the video was great, thanks for sharing! There was a thread awhile back and was about whether an RC valk would fly or not, I guess we answered that question Edited March 22, 2004 by Grayson72 Quote
Myersjessee Posted March 22, 2004 Posted March 22, 2004 Let me be the first to stand up and say I thought it would be hard to make it fly...and while the wings look a bit wide, it otherwise looks very accurate. Nice work!!!! I was wrong...bo doubt about it!!!! Quote
edwardling Posted March 23, 2004 Author Posted March 23, 2004 Thanks for you all reply!! Yes!! I modified the wing to be a bit wide to increase it's floating power Also, it use a Elevator and Aileron mixing to achieve pitch stablity/control But I will modified V-tail to control pitch next time. It is more efficient!! Next time, I will post a building method to all of us Thanks!! Quote
Major Blah Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Yo that's super cool. Whoever was the camera man did an awesome job as well. It was so convincing that I somehow expected the valk to transform into gerwalk at the end of the movie. Quote
Chicago Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 That is so cool, you should be very proud. You are the new wright brothers for the macross world. Good Job Quote
Cdr Fokker Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Nice! Hey, now we know that it is possible to get a Valk flying in reality... Now then, would anyone like to kindly donate several thousand dollars so MW can have its own actual jet turbine R/C Valk? Well, dual-engined, actually... maybe fully variable? Hehe... Quote
Nitrous Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Wow.. that's great man, a flying Valk... Awesome!! Quote
VF19 Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 That barrel roll at the end was bad ass. I want one. now. Quote
Batou Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Very nicely done. Outstanding. You can't see it, but I'm clapping right now (as I'm typing, of course ... ) Quote

Hehe... Well get me $140,000 and i can get you a pair of the jet turbines used on an F-15 straight off the factory floor. Get me another 180,000 and ill build ya the airframe and about another 100,000 ill design and put in a "Fly By Wire" control system, all avionics and even make her fully variable. ofcourse she'll look more like the VF-0 but hey. (and you bet your ass im serious about this! ) Edited March 23, 2004 by The_Major Quote
UN Spacy Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Seeing your VF-1 in flight with the Macross music brings a tear to my eye. What kind of second transformation were you talking about edwardling? I can't wait to see more vids. Wow. I can't believe this hasn't been done before. Quote
Hiriyu Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 That's just INSANELY cool. Awesome. The addition of the music is great. I run short of superlatives... Kawamori would be proud Quote
Neova Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 Edward, You wouldn't live in HK would you? Cuz my model told me about someone who was doing this but I thought it would be jet propelled and not push prop! Awesome in anycase! Quote
edwardling Posted March 23, 2004 Author Posted March 23, 2004 (edited) Edward,You wouldn't live in HK would you? Cuz my model told me about someone who was doing this but I thought it would be jet propelled and not push prop! Awesome in anycase! Neova Yes, I live in Hong Kong. Actually, Jet Turbine is very very expensive!!!!! and Also very high risk on building and playing...!! Also, normal motor ducted fan can't give enough power to build Jet So I choose the cheapest and powerful soluction, push propeller to build VF-1 I hope one day, I can see a Jet Turbine powered VF-1 fly onto sky with 3 modes transformation!! Beside, who are your model?? how can he/she know about this job?? Edited March 23, 2004 by edwardling Quote
Mule Posted March 23, 2004 Posted March 23, 2004 I guess he didn't read the thread we had a few months ago saying that it would be almost impossible to do this Great work. Quote
