Rodavan Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 Been trying my hand a kit modeling ,but seeing the great Queadluun for Milla , I decided to try and do a CG model of the Milla Quead. Also at the price CG is cheaper ! Everthing is nice and rounded and with very little info ,it's like building a scratch model , without the styrene and putty and filing and filing ....... I struggled with the feet , still needs something maybe ? If there is any good refernce pics out there let me know . Maybe the guys who bought the Quead can take some nice pic left , front and back and close up so we can see the detail. Thanks Quote
Mechmaster Posted March 16, 2004 Posted March 16, 2004 Looks like a good start Rod, I was working mainly from my Imai 1/144 scale model when I made a start on the Rau (currently shelved through lack of time) but I also had this image to help. Quote
Gammera Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 Q-rau's are tough, I tired to do one but I stopped working on it, Didn't like anything about my model. I found this pic somewhere. Super jelous. Quote
Rodavan Posted March 17, 2004 Author Posted March 17, 2004 Thanks Guys ! I wanted to have the basics rough parts finished today , but ....... Mechmaster - I have been looking for just such a pic - thanks Gammera - Super jealous indeed ! Quote
Rodavan Posted March 18, 2004 Author Posted March 18, 2004 Hi Need help ! Is that "hook" stuck on the back of that "hump" or must the "hook" slide trough it? Thanks Quote
Vostok 7 Posted March 18, 2004 Posted March 18, 2004 HiNeed help ! Is that "hook" stuck on the back of that "hump" or must the "hook" slide trough it? Thanks I don't quite understand your question... Vostok 7 Quote
EXO Posted March 18, 2004 Posted March 18, 2004 The hook is attached to that little fin/hump and slides back and forth when the hatch opens. Quote
Rodavan Posted March 19, 2004 Author Posted March 19, 2004 Sorry If I am unclear in my question - Vostok 7 I added a picture to show/explain , I think >EXO< got it - Thanks "Somethimes I talk english deliciously" Quote
Mechmaster Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 Here is how the antenna attaches on the model kit, just a simple pivot at the base. Quote
Rodavan Posted March 19, 2004 Author Posted March 19, 2004 WIP update Thanks Mechmaster , that makes sense ! I finished the basic parts ( a week of lunch hour modeling) . I still need to work on the back booster part and the area right under the chest. If the proportions look out , let me know, but @least it's starting to look like a Rau. Still lots to do ! Quote
Angel's Fury Posted March 19, 2004 Posted March 19, 2004 It's starting to look like a Q-Rau, even though it's still a work in progress. Quote
Rodavan Posted March 25, 2004 Author Posted March 25, 2004 Leg and head info Trying to get detail on legs , I have counter sunk the holes ( See pic) I take it this is a "exhuast" , in some pics it look as if instead of a counter sunk hole there is "step" ? I also finished the head , but have no idea about the area around it , should it be empty or is there somethig there ? If you know let me know ! Quote
mechaninac Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Great looking stuff, your Rau is coming along nicely. By the way, what are you using to model this thing, Rhino? Quote
Angel's Fury Posted March 25, 2004 Posted March 25, 2004 Nice work on the CG Rau's head!!! As for the legs, I think they're thrust vectors, used in manuvering in space, not exhausts. Quote
Rodavan Posted March 26, 2004 Author Posted March 26, 2004 Wip Update ! Slow , very slow progress Quote
Rodavan Posted March 26, 2004 Author Posted March 26, 2004 I almost forgot ! Thanks Angel's Fury and mechaninac . Yup - mechaninac , Rhino it is ! Quote
mechaninac Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 I thought that environment looked familiar. Quote
Angel's Fury Posted March 26, 2004 Posted March 26, 2004 Wip Update !Slow , very slow progress Slowly, but surely. It's staring to look stunning. Quote
Rodavan Posted March 31, 2004 Author Posted March 31, 2004 WIP Update Been playing around with renderer (Have to play more with light , but when I saw these .......) Sorry for the big images ! Quote
Rodavan Posted March 31, 2004 Author Posted March 31, 2004 The toy look Does anybody know if the missiles on the leg is the same size as the missiles on the shoulder ? Is there any reference on how they look ? Thanks Quote
Tristan Lindo Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 WOW that looks like something from Toystory Nice work man. Quote
Lonely Soldier Boy Posted March 31, 2004 Posted March 31, 2004 Whoa, whoa, whoa!!! It's going great! Man, I gotta learn to do that! You should check the toy review section, Graham posted lot's of pictures of the Yamato Q-Rau, It's a very nice toy. Quote
Mr March Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Very cool. Now for some great stills of this fighting a valk. In 1280x1024 or higher of course Quote
Angel's Fury Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Very COOL Rodavan!!! You've got mad skilz!!! Quote
Chronocidal Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Toy Story NOTHING... that looks like a photo from off a shelf!! O_O!!! I really should use Rhino for more than polygon modeling... How on earth do you get those complex surfaces so smooth??? I always end up with ridiculous distortions. Quote
mcpaz Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Toy Story NOTHING... that looks like a photo from off a shelf!! O_O!!! I really should use Rhino for more than polygon modeling... How on earth do you get those complex surfaces so smooth??? I always end up with ridiculous distortions. I would go even further! I would say this is one of the photo album for the Meltran Q-Rau propaganda!!! (Put a slogan under your Q-Rau and all meltrans will buy it for sure! ) Quote
Rodavan Posted April 1, 2004 Author Posted April 1, 2004 Thanks for kudos guys ! There still lots to do , but I couln't resist posting those two pic. The Q-Rau is a difficult one to model. Chronocidal - Try and try again , I re-did the chest and shoulder area about 7 times in Rhino before I was happy. I then used Solid Edge to smooth out the last fillets with variable fillets. Quote
Rodavan Posted April 7, 2004 Author Posted April 7, 2004 Need some opinions ! Can't seem to get the "backpack" right , is it to small ? Some reference pic show a cut-out at the bottom shown in gold colour here. The new 1/60 doesn't seem to have it , or the pics if have seen doesn't show it . So does my version look right ? Quote
Rodavan Posted April 13, 2004 Author Posted April 13, 2004 WIP Redid a few things , after seeing review ! Quote
EXO Posted April 13, 2004 Posted April 13, 2004 The toy look Does anybody know if the missiles on the leg is the same size as the missiles on the shoulder ? Is there any reference on how they look ? Thanks missilles should be exactly the same. Nice toy... Where can I get something like that? Quote
