THOR Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 I was sitting here contemplating the cat's eye recasting complexity issue. I see why it would be hard to make molds of some of the parts but it seems Tanmen chose the hard way to make his pieces for the sake of a better model and to thwart recasting. I suppose I'd except a bit less detail to have this kit. Here are some ideas to make it easier(maybe): Wing: I would glue the top cover onto the engine body and face off the front cowl. I would make a modified piece for the exhaust. Now the wing can be molded as one piece. Heavier, yes, but who cares? It's the Cat's Eye! Fuselage: I'd remove the radar frame and cast it as one or several pieces. Again I'd face off any holes such as the intakes, exhaust, and landing gear bay using the pieces that go in those places but maybe modifying them for the sake of molding. Cast the fuselage as one piece. Nose: Insert the cockpit floor and make any modifications to remove undercuts. Face off the rear and cast the nose as one piece. If I had an original I'd donate it to someone with the skills to pull this off so we can all enjoy this fabulous model by Tanmen. Quote
Myersjessee Posted March 15, 2004 Posted March 15, 2004 Yep...I thought about that....and it might be the way...but I would hate to have all the weight out on the engine...and I would hate to cute mine up Seems like a big risk... Quote
rocco_77 Posted March 17, 2004 Posted March 17, 2004 Maybe someone ordered two of them, and wouldn't mind donating one to recasting science? Quote
