rewooh Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 Okay, so we all know that RT isn't real, what's real is macross. My goal as a collector and admirer of macross is to collect every mech out there, at least one of each. I have in my possen 80% macross consisting of takaoku, yamato and bandai, and I have 20% RT matchbox. Out of RT collection, I'm contemplating selling my 3" die cast destroids...but i'm having doubts or troubles.. Like i said, i want to colelct one of every mech, the rarer the better. I currently have all the 3" destroids from takatoku except the phalanx...so to me, I've done my part on the 3" destroids and I have no need for the RT ones.. However, I'm afraid if i sell those, I'm going to regret it because...I may not have a complete collection since the RT ones have different colors and such..and they are kinda rare...and the macross world does not have the different colors taht the RT ones do... so my question is Do you think somethign will be missing if i get there out my collection? would the takatoku's be enough? Sebastian Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 Ho man! How can we know? The best way is you to sell the destroids and then let us know how you feel bout that. Seriously, your question is just too personal, nobody can tell better than yourself. Quote
APU Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 Your 1st statement is really ignorant and it is web opinion based. To say RT isnt real is to say the 80s didnt exsist. Quote
Graham Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 If you think that you might possibly later regret selling them, then don't sell them. Personally, I've found that if you think you might regret getting rid of a toy, you usually will regret it sooner or later. Graham Quote
Southcross Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 Out of RT collection, I'm contemplating selling my 3" die cast destroids...but i'm having doubts or troubles.. If you do decide to sell them, please PM me... depending on your asking price, I might buy 'em Quote

Graham what graham said. what I usually buy now is whatever I know I won't want to sell later. why buy it if you're not going to want it later...not speaking of my SW stuff of course...damn I wasted a lot of money on that crap. =P and also what southcross said, if you decide to sell and he passes, give me a PM Quote
kanata67 Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 (edited) uhm... do they have boxes??? If so I might be able to work it so that you still have destroids and some extra booty. I might even be able to help Southcross if he asks nicely . I buy stuff and I sell stuff. Depends on what your personal tastes are. Only you can know that. I sold/traded some matchbox glaugs away and I don't miss them. Granted I hung on to my two in box, a loose one in good shape to display, and a few damaged ones to custom... but I still sold more than half . For me the three reasons to sell something from my collection boil down to this... Can I sell it for more than replacement cost? Everything I own is theoretically for sale if someone is willing to pay an outrageous enough price but it makes for a good reason if I can get one it better condition and make some money while I do it. Am I trading something I have more than one of for something I don't have and want? This is the reason I parted with glaugs, jm's, and other toys. As long as I have at least one I can't kick myself to hard. Is they toy rare but a complete waste of money/space? I happily sold my takatoku 1/76 gbp-1s as I thought it blew monkey balls -no offence rob anyways... at one point I had over 100 various 1/144 die-cast destroids and sold a large number of them. I still have a bunch though as I like them, though I still need at least one boxed of a few. does graham regret selling the great wall of yamato? uhm... my bad... I know yours don't have boxes as you bought them from me... I really should pay attention to who starts the topic before I start trolling . Sell them to Southcross for a profit and give me a pm if you miss them Edited February 27, 2004 by kanata67 Quote
GRAND CANNON Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 Seriously, your question is just too personal, nobody can tell better than yourself. That pretty much sums it up from my point of view. With the advent of parenthood (which, in turn, equals "no cash" ..... and forget about "spare cash"), I've found that I end up re-circulating what I've had in order to fill my current obsessive wants and needs. (Which is now 1/60s & 1/72s thanks to this lovely little site . 1/48s will still remain in that far-off place ........for now......"Come on LOTTERY!!") There are some items that I have that I toss back-and-forth about selling for money towards these Yammies, but, as Graham posted, if I have to think about it that much, then it's probably not a good idea. So excuse me while I go back to trying a list all of my SW crap. Quote

Agent ONE Posted February 27, 2004 Posted February 27, 2004 Well I only collect quality stuff and RT doesn't have any of that... Other than my SDF-1 coffe mug (which I am using right now). Quote
