Cyclone Posted March 14, 2004 Author Posted March 14, 2004 *cries due to the distance between him and Madman, because anime clubs in Melbourne could buy the box this weekend* Madman pretty much stick to Amaray's nowdays, and they appeared like they are. and yes once again, 6 discs, 2 discs per case, 3 cases per 1 box. Also easter eggy-ness in the menus... Cyc Quote
ewilen Posted March 14, 2004 Posted March 14, 2004 And don't forget: the Animeigo set is single-layer. So there's no extra compression in the Madman release, which is dual-layer. It's a great deal. Not that I regret buying the Animeigo set. (Then again, I "only" spent around $150 on it--plus a fair amount of trouble shopping and dealing with crappy sellers.) Quote
Cyclone Posted March 23, 2004 Author Posted March 23, 2004 Ah that wonderous feeling of ordering online to get cheaper prices only to see the title in stores for day after day before you copy turns up... At any rate even without my copy I can reveal that Madman used the best art Harmony Gold provided them for the case covers. The Yune MPC Pilot cell images. Cyc Quote

blackthought Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 Hi there, just wondering if there are any hidden easter eggs in the Australian set and if so, how do u access them? Any help is very much appreciated. Cheers! Quote
Impreszive Posted May 10, 2004 Posted May 10, 2004 Why couldn't we get a box like this in the US? Geez. Quote
Panon Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 Why couldn't we get a box like this in the US? Geez. Don't worry about it. The video quality on the Animeigo set being considerably better than the R4 set is more that worth the difference in box designs. Quote

The video quality on the Animeigo set being considerably better than the R4 set is more that worth the difference in box designs. Panon, Can you qualify this statement with side by side comparison screen shots of the R4 version versus AnimEigo's R1 version? Here is Graham's comparison of AC (HK Bootleg), AnimEigo and Bandai's 2001 (over 450 USD) versions. http://www.macrossworld.com/macross/video/..._comparison.htm So far, we know this: R1 = 9 x Single Layer DVD R4 = 6 x Dual Layer DVD Same footage, same audio , but has different box and inserts. If the R4 version turns out to be EXACTLY like the R1, I'm buying this since asap. Aussie guys, help us MW'ers out here please with some links to buy this set! We should also Rx region vs boot comparison of other Macross DVDS such as FB 2012, Mac +, M:2 and etc... Edit - my bad... see below for better comparison pictures. Edited May 11, 2004 by Neova Quote
Panon Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 R4 on top, Animeigo on the bottom: The top shot is from the Animeigo set, not the R4. I know because that's a screencap I took and it's on my webspace I'll see if I can take some example comparison shots when I get home in a couple of hours. Quote
Neova Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 Ah my bad! I thought those shots were from Cyclone! Hee hee! Awaiting screenshot quality. Thanks for the correction Panon! Quote
Guppy Posted May 11, 2004 Posted May 11, 2004 here are some links I found for the Ultimate collection in Oz. I think these ones (except EZdvd) will ship internationally. And they are all large retail chains so you won't be ripped off. HMV: http://www.hmv.com.au/v4/product/dvd.asp?sku=914410 Madman: http://www.madman.com.au/ViewItem.php?CatNo=MMB066 Sanity: http://www.sanity.com.au/product.asp?intPr...ArtistID=184950 EZdvd: http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/226180 Plus, I can vouch for Madman. They always release quality dvd's with very nice art design. and they usually have a good assortment of extras too. Quote
Valk-1S Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 I know I am a bit slow in getting this but I just got my shipping confirmation from EzyDvd today. Hooray!! Can't wait for it to arrive. For those who are still interested in getting the Australian version, EzyDvd have drop their price to A$119.95. Here's the link. http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/226180 And for Aussie buyers, shipping is free via courier services. Quote
1/1 LowViz Lurker Posted July 8, 2004 Posted July 8, 2004 (edited) So what's the easter egg and how do you access it? Is it a secret H-doujin made by fans of minmay? I got this recently. The box stood out very well in the shop. The little booklets are just cut down versions of the liner notes. When are the Mospeada and SC ones due in OZ? Edited July 8, 2004 by 1/1 LowViz Lurker Quote
flobo Posted July 9, 2004 Posted July 9, 2004 Hello, i am new, the french version of the original serie was released in france last week, and in the manuel, it was wright in french that the fans are going on www.macrossworld.com so i am here. It is made from the animeigo version. The quality is very good, i post here to put some picture of the box. Quote
izzyfcuk Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 wow, i think this box art is nicer! the colors are better Quote
Keith Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 That's pretty sweet box art, although I have to wonder how sturdy such a large gatefold could possibly be. Quote
flobo Posted July 10, 2004 Posted July 10, 2004 It is stordy but that's not the important point of the box. The great adventage is the price. Its cheap. 60 € = 74 $ Quote
Panon Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 Also interesting is that set appears to come with a bunch of extras that R1/R4 didn't get, from the 20th aniversary disk. Quote
flobo Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 In the bonus dvd, there is : difference before/after remasterisation Opening long version document for 20th aniversery of macross Trailers > (macross 3D vfx, macross +, macross 7) Opening without credits 2 ending without credits Opening super deformed fortress macross Opening and endings for macross 7 and macross dynamite 7. sketchs illustrations adverts Kinematics of macross VFX and macross VFX2 files(interview,timeline,...) And also, 5 minmay musics. Quote
Cyclone Posted July 11, 2004 Author Posted July 11, 2004 Especially interesting considering a certain logo we can see on the box... Cyc Quote
Cyclone Posted July 11, 2004 Author Posted July 11, 2004 That's my point. Animeigo and Madman could only use what Harmony Gold provided them. Yet these guys aren't hamstrung by the same rule. What's the difference? Cyc Quote
EXO Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 Welcome flobo.... glad you found us... wow that french box is awesome... I might have to get that one because I still haven't got an "official" copy of the anemiego set. Quote
flobo Posted July 11, 2004 Posted July 11, 2004 (edited) We can switch off the french subtitles but there isnt english subtitile. Edited July 11, 2004 by flobo Quote
Keith Posted July 12, 2004 Posted July 12, 2004 Their benefit is that they're not in an english speaking country. It's doubtful that HG gives a rats ass what goes on in france, and in turn, the french company could give less of a crap about "borrowing" certain extra's. Quote
