Godzilla Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Just wondering. I guess I can take a pic of it on my new HDTV. Quote
ewilen Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Coupla pics here, including one that clearly shows it's not a 1A: http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?...=blue,and,vf-1s Elsewhere in the scene, you can see it's a 1S, but I don't know offhand where to find screengrabs/scans. Quote
Godzilla Posted February 13, 2004 Author Posted February 13, 2004 Thanks. So the shield is black.... Quote
tetsujin Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 (edited) Thanks. So the shield is black.... Probably a coloring error. Check the leg, one of the stabilizers is red instead of blue. But I'm not sure. (EDIT): Never mind, see the thread somebody linked. Apparently the heatshield was consistently black through that sequence. Edited February 13, 2004 by tetsujin Quote
Anubis Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 (edited) The heat shield is supposed to be blue, if you look carefully, you can see it more often than not. And it's the official word. Edited February 13, 2004 by Anubis Quote
Agent ONE Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 It is black the entire time in the movie... The idea of having it blue is stupid... It is inconsistent with Focker's heatshield, when someone gets a 1S, they should have a black heatshield. If that isn't hte case then why didn't Roy have a yellow heatshield? Quote

Beause Focker was bad-ass enough to NOT have an ugly heatshield. Quote
Göönk Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 no, because yellow get dirty easily because yellow is seen easily by enemies because they didnt have any more yellow paint in the warehouse because yellow with white skull is hard to see because black "colour" is less efficient as heat shield because in TV series it was black Quote
Godzilla Posted February 14, 2004 Author Posted February 14, 2004 It would have been inconsistent because the heat shield of Hikaru VF-1S is red. Why he has that and max wouldnt get his blue? The reason why I am asking is because I am doing preliminary research before I decide to make custom. I can see roy getting black b/c it is cnsistent throughout the movie (until his death) and in the TV series. Quote
UN Spacy Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 I don't think we'll ever get a definite answer about the Heatshield question. In DYRL Roy's VF-1S either has a black or yellow heatshield. Max's VF-1S either has a black or blue heatshield. Those damn animation errors really divide the fans...... I guess someone at Yamato had to make a choice. For their Hikaru VF-1S (I think) they chose RED. Quote
Opus Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 I guess someone at Yamato had to make a choice. For their Hikaru VF-1S (I think) they chose RED. Yamato actually has no say. they're told what colors to use by Big West who says it's red. Quote
pfunk Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 Geez, I never noticed that, wrong colors everywhare, what, did they have a kid color the cells Quote
treatment Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 fwiw, Max's VF-1S never had a blue-shield in DYRL. It's always black. Only his VF-1A had the blue-heatshield. Roy's and Hikaru's were the only ones with the dual-colors. Quote
Godzilla Posted February 15, 2004 Author Posted February 15, 2004 Wow, this screws up my custom... Quote
Anubis Posted February 15, 2004 Posted February 15, 2004 Wow, this screws up my custom... It's safe to say at this point you could do either. Whichever you think would look better on the custom. It's been said it's supposed to be blue, and then you see it black in the animation, go figure. I personally like the argument that Roy's heatshield was black because White on Yellow doesn't show very well. At all. Hikaru and Max didn't have that problem, so they went ahead and used their colors. Quote

I am getting prolly a VF-1S Hikaru and steal the head. Then I will make that VF as a Kakizaki DRYL. My problem is how to make that heat shield green. Quote
