khyronic Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Just asking for quick thoughts on the following shows. If you've seen any or all as I am leaning towards watching some. Thanks in advance! Nadesico Crusher Joe F-Zero TV Ninja Scroll TV Ghost In the Shell TV(Is this one even finished?...) Kabuto TV Quote
Panon Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 F-Zero TV Bad enough that nobody is even bothering to subtitle it. Ninja Scroll TV Poor. Ghost In the Shell TV(Is this one even finished?...) Excellent. Still ongoing. Quote
Pat Payne Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Nadesico: Pretty good -- kinda a sci-fi spoof that turns serious like Macross. Crusher Joe -- never saw the TV/OAV, but he manga's good. Same universe as the Dirty Pair, only these WWWA Trouble Consultants are competent at doing their job with out blowing up planets Ghost in the Shell: SAC: Nice political thriller/cyberpunk action. Those are the ones that I've seen in one form or another. Quote
JELEINEN Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Nadesico - Great satire on fans and fandom mascerading as a giant robot SF series. Some of the more subtle parts require knowledge of the history of anime and science fiction.Crusher Joe - Classic film/OVAs with lots of action and an intelligent plot. Good animation, but the designs are dated (whatever that means).Ghost In the Shell TV(Is this one even finished?...) - It's still airing, as far as I know. They only do a couple episodes a month. What I've seen of it is good though. More comparable to the manga than the movie. The others I've not seen. Quote

Just one film and two OVAs. Also, it's not in the same universe as Dirty Pair, except that Dirty Pair also exist as fictional characters in Crusher Joe. Both the Crusher Joe and Dirty Pair novels were written by the same author. Quote
GobotFool Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Ninja Scroll TV is the greatest comedy ever, I mean I fell out of my chair laughing. What's that? it wasn't supposed to be funny? Yeah the TV show is pretty poor, though entertaining if your willing to MS3K it. That's what my friend and I did when we 1st saw it. The Ghost in the Shell series is another matter. It's alot closer to the manga than the movie is. GITS SAC also manages to be entertaining and reasonably intelligent at the same time. Quote
Göönk Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 (edited) off topic, but not completely. It seems you're looking for new anime to like ! I like those series in case you don't know them : Planetes : story in space with high accuracy about space technics, realistic story in 2070, when walking on moon is something every body can do, but still, dangerous Gunslinger girl : story of young girls (10-14 years old) brainwashed with mechanized bodies (a few bones and muscles are carbon fiber!!) and they're used as "tools" to kill mafia guys by an Italian secret agency. Actions takes place in Italy. Good graphism, good characters and guns, extremely good music intro/outro as well. Area 88 : story about planes (Tomcats, Migs, Skyhawkes, Corsaire II, Harriers...) piloted by mercenaries for a country in war with another one. It's the story of a japanese reporter that is sent to the base #88 to make an articles/photographs of one of the mercenary, who is japanese as well. Planes graphisms are perfect (CG), story is a bit poor, characters are poor too but there's only 3 ep availlable at animesuki so I guess they will develop the characters later. Daphne in the brilliant blue : nice bimbos with bare naked bodies. No other remark I like other series but it's not in the same category fight/robots...
