David Hingtgen Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Just wondering if anyone has enough connections, etc to get in this weekend. I'm fairly sure somebody (Kevin Lam?) from here went last year. Odds of Macross stuff being there isn't *too* high, but Toynami's sure to make an appearance, and of course Bandai. And even Hasegawa should show, as it's not PURELY toys---lots of model companies come. Never know what will show up, or who might have acquired what license. Maybe we'll all be surprised if Yamato shows up. Quote
Apollo Leader Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Kevin's been there at the show two years straight now. As for Macross stuff, the DYRL Super Poseables are suppose to be there... Quote
VALKYRIE-EXCHANGE.COM Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Unfortunately, I am not going this year... Just got a new job recently so I have no vacation time to get away.... Quote
Effect Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Where is it being held? I wish I could go but most likely its on the west coast and I'm on the east.. Quote
MrDisco Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Unfortunately, I am not going this year... Just got a new job recently so I have no vacation time to get away.... job? job? v-e.com should be your full time job Quote
Myersjessee Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 anyone know when it ends, or have a link to it? Maybe I can sneak over... Quote
David Hingtgen Posted February 13, 2004 Author Posted February 13, 2004 Here you go: http://www.toy-tia.org/Content/NavigationM...al_TOY_FAIR.htm But you can't just "get in". First thing they want is your Hasbro/Mattel/Palisades/Bandai/etc ID. Quote
Anubis Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Maybe there will be the answers we seek when HG announces the DYRL posables. Quote
VALKYRIE-EXCHANGE.COM Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Folks, keep in mind the show is for people in the "industry". You have to have the proper business licenses, sales tax permits, etc. to register and get in... Even then, you have to have appointments with the mfgs/dealers. Morever, you can't just walk into their showroom. I walked into Hasbro's showroom the first year and they basically told me to leave since I didn't have an appointment. The larger companies have a receptionist area blocking you from going into the showrooms. -K Quote
EXO Posted February 13, 2004 Posted February 13, 2004 Isn't E3 the same way? And getting tickets isn't that hard... Where there's a will, there's a way? <-- Ninja Mode Jesse Action Figure Quote
David Hingtgen Posted February 14, 2004 Author Posted February 14, 2004 E3 is a million times easier to get in. Quote
Myersjessee Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 (edited) ....so here is my plan...I get my wife to dress up as an anime girl....she distracts the guards and I am in...then...I do a lot of the "mumble-speak" "Excuse me sir, can I see your badge?" "mumble-mumble, robble..." push...shove... all ninja baby! ...ahh well...Ill be in NYC all day Tuesday...but no dice unless I can convice someone my ESPN badge means I am from the new ESPN toy division... Apollo Leader Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 Some of the major toy sites, like figures.com, will be covering the event so we should be set. Quote
rnurmin Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 Jesse: You can use the excuse by saying that ESPN is looking forward to getting new ideas due to the success of McFarlane action figures. Quote
do not disturb Posted February 14, 2004 Posted February 14, 2004 i'll be attending but whats this talk about setting up appointments??? and i understand providing business creditials but you actually have to bring invoices from toy companies? thats ridiculous! i've been in the retail game for a while but i had no idea you had to set up appointments for the toy fair? now i'm questioning if i should even bother going. i just don't want to waste my sunday getting kicked out of this showrrom and that showroom. my only reason for going is to look and take some pictures. i guess i'll see what happens otherwise i'm gonna skip it altogether. the worst part about it is, the JJC is only 15 minute train ride from where i live.....this totally SUCKS!
