Graham Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Definitely buying. Looks awesome. This HG Shortcut Change line is getting better and better with each new release. Hopefully, they also use the insert molding for VF-25 HG kits in the future also. Now just go and release a YF-19 v.2 kit already LOL. Quote

I'm glad to see they're not pencil-thin for the sake of transformation. Still don't care enough to actually get it, but kudos to those who dig it. The acrylic stand certainly isn't a bad inclusion. I'm curious what the "deluxe" is supposed to include besides... the extra Freyja waterslide? Quote

jocax188723 Posted February 19 Posted February 19 AFAIK there are eleven VF-31 variants: A, CEFJS, and 5x AX(Hayate, Arad, Chuck, Mirage, and Bogue). Place your bets now, how many of them will actually release, and of those, how many will be P-Bandai? Quote
pod Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Hopefully they will breeze through the Delta Flight and release the VF31A and maybe 31AX with the 31 molds. Most looking forward to the 31a, 31s and 31e. Good thing that bandai is improving on each new mold release! I have high hopes for an eventual VF25 release and please please please VF11 some day! Quote

More than that if you also include the color schemes from the "Walküre Launch" video, which Hasegawa released kits of. Quote

SayuriUliana Posted February 19 Posted February 19 (edited) Entry from Bandai Spirits blog has a surprising potential teaser The Freyja Wion acrylic stand in the middle is exclusive to the upcoming Deluxe Edition of the HG 1/100 VF-31J Siegfried (Hayate Immelman colors) so it stands to reason that if all of Walkure have the same acrylic stands, it means the rest of Delta Squadron are being released in the future too. Yeah, I just saw this too. Well, that's at least five model kits to look forward to. Here's hoping they do the VF-31E's dish properly, though it'll probably be a parts-forming sort of thing. mikeszekely Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Man, I saw "1/100" and got excited thinking Bandai was finally doing a 31 HMR. ... ...Imma still get it, though. Quote

lechuck Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Hmm... might skip this one and wait for a true deluxe version that includes the super parts. The acrylic Freyja stand thing is completely lost on me. Quote
ElliotGrimes Posted February 20 Posted February 20 Ironically more expensive than the 8-year-old 1/72 fully transformable version! While I do like the idea of a partsformer version - for the sake of better looks and durability - on the other hand, this is way too expensive for this scale... Quote

The yen was worth more back then, and 5200 JPY in 2016 was about $51 USD. This HG kit is about $35 today. Quote
Bolt Posted February 21 Posted February 21 (edited) I'm glad Bandai is continuing with HG Macross. I just hope this doesn't mean we wont get any more Delta 1/72's from Bandai. I'm still over here holding my breath for the SV-303 Vivasvat.. Edited February 21 by Bolt Quote

True. But currency exchange rates evolved differently through time. Where I live, the 1/100 VF-31 is more expensive then the 1/72 VF31 was some years ago... and the best bang for the buck remains the 1/72 option as of now! From "where I stand", the only redeeming factor of the 1/100 version is the multicolor plastic! I'll stick to the 1/72 version. With some 3D printing and engineering, its flaws can be overcome. Oh... and the decals have to be purchased separately in the case of the 1/100... Whereas they are included in the box, by default, when it comes to the 1/72! Edited February 21 by ElliotGrimes Quote

Personally I'd love to have other transformable 1/72 macross kits: a V2.0 of the VF-1, VF-25, and a YF-19, YF-21! And of course some more Delta 1/72 kits. Yup, they have their flaws and flimsiness (the VF-1 was horrendous in that regard) but now, with 3D printing, I'm sure some workarounds and customizations could bring some significant improvements! Graham Posted February 21 Posted February 21 When the new Macross TV series is released, there might be a chance of Bandai releasing some 1/72 transforming kits for the new show and maybe re-releasing some of the older kits. However, I have a feeling that as the HG 1/100 Shortcut Change line seems to be doing well for Bandai, they may drop 1/72 altogether in favour of the HG. Just my guess. Quote

I would tend to make the same predictions as you, Graham, but who knows what will happen? I really wasn't expecting transformable "master grade type" transformable Bandai kit Valkyries to emerge in 2008 the way they did! What about real-grade transformable valks? Who knows! Quote

A real grade sounds interesting, but very complicated. Lots of little pieces, it could turn out like their hand grenade Zeta. But hopefully they’ve learned from those mistakes. Maybe a surprise perfect grade, but that’s kinda just dreaming. Then again I didn’t expect hg 1/100 kits when they announced them. Quote

Not gonna lie, a PG VF-1 would be fantastic, but the chances are...well. Less than 3720 to 1. Quote
