sh9000 Posted January 17 Posted January 17 1/10 Villians of Old Detroit figures. 1/4 Toxic Emil statue. Quote
tekering Posted January 18 Posted January 18 Spectacular news! If these sell well, I see tremendous potential for this company. I hope they do Toxic Emil at 1:10 as well. 😁 Quote
Big s Posted January 18 Posted January 18 On prime they have a series of documentaries for Robocop called Robodoc. For such a long documentary of behind the scenes and making of, it’s highly entertaining. I never thought I’d get so into a documentary about a movie that’s four or five times longer than the actual movie, but it’s really a lot of fun and broken up well. There was a segment about the baddies and how a lot of their lines and actions were just improved. The guy playing Steve Minh said that he kinda just came up with the one handed shotgun pump on the fly and it was the first time ever in a movie. And now every action film seems to throw in a scene like that. All the other guys had little things they threw in here and there making for one of the most iconic criminal gangs ever in an action film. Anyway, it’s a fun watch and these figures look great. I like the vhs packaging Quote
sh9000 Posted January 19 Author Posted January 19 Strange that all these years NECA never released the villians. I'll definitely get these to go with my NECA Robocop collection though. I want an Anne Lewis and Dick Jones figure as well. Quote
sh9000 Posted February 1 Author Posted February 1 Weapons and accessories. The plan is to release the figures in 1/10 scale but JFS Toys will consider releasing figures in 1/12 scale later. Quote

I like the vhs packaging I'm glad you mentioned this. RoboCop is one of my all-time favorite movies and the documentary was enlightening and enjoyable for the candid takes by many involved as well as adding a whole new level of appreciation for the final film. I remember all the controversy surrounding it's having received an "X" rating for violence, and they go into depth about that and what they ended up trimming and what stayed. They also mention Peter Weller's extracurricular proclivities with the ladies- quite the player back in the day apparently. I've long recognized the film as being far more than the sum of its parts- it was an audacious and unique film that set a precedent that's, IMHO, never been equaled by another film in the genre, and likely never will without blatantly copying it. And for all the horror stories about Paul Verhoeven, it simply would not be the film it is without his vision and instincts, and pretty much everyone agrees with that. And I'll forever be grateful for Phil Tippett and his FX folks who created and animated ED-209, one of the all-time coolest robots in any film, or genre of film including anime, ever. Quote

I totally agree. I still love seeing it and love the backstory about images from other mecha, including the Glaug as inspiration for the gun arms. Quote

I was pleasantly surprised when they showed pics of the Glaug as inspiration for ED-209. They didn't mention it in this documentary, but I've heard it mentioned in other RoboCop BTS vids that the open grill was also meant to be humorous, putting a point of vulnerability right up front on an otherwise tough combat machine. Until I heard that, it never really crossed my mind; it just looked really cool to me, and I guess growing up in the 80s with so many nigh invincible vehicles in shows and movies, it was intentional and probably reinforced. Anyway, it's such a gorgeous design. I have the Neca toys of it and RoboCop on my desk, so they're always there in sight. Just lovely.😍 Quote
