UN Spacy Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Sorry I couldn't get scanned pics but these aren't too bad themselves. It's from the October 2003 issue of EGM, from their article on 80's revival. There are also games being released from 80's cartoons such as He-Man, Transformers (Armada ), etc. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for this one. Quote
UN Spacy Posted August 28, 2003 Author Posted August 28, 2003 One more. Look at the little kid holding the Legioss/Alpha Fighter. Hahahahaha. Mikey likes it. Quote
madmacks Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 i was looking at my egm yesterday and saw this also. it looks like poo poo Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 '80's? The '80s remind me of the band the Buggles... Buggles... rhymes with Fuggles... fuggles... sorta like fugly... which is what that page is. FPS? Ugh. Mospeada does not lend itself well to the FPS genre... and for the life of me I smell a Sentinels game... Quote
alexborn007 Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 "To the moon TDK...to the moon." What a lousy outlook for the game. I was a staunt supporter of Battlecry (still am, its a fun little title), but this just doesn't make any sense. They're really trying too hard to impress people. The multiplayer idea is novel...but would have worked better in the Macross saga (20 people duking it out in Valks is quite the tease). Really disappointing Quote
Hoptimus Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Not bad. I will wait till we get more shots and info. Quote
Effect Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Not bad. I will wait till we get more shots and info. Same here. Quote
Agent ONE Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 God this kind of promotion is worse than the first game. Quote
SuperOstrich Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 The article is horrible for sure, but the game graphics look pretty good. I HATE FPS's on console controllers though. UGH! If it's not a twitch shooter kinda like Metroid Prime wasn't then it might be pretty good. Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 I'm placing faith that those screen shots are of a beta... and that said beta will change over development. Still, an FPS game? Why? Mospeada almost needs to be a third person action title... how can you drive a mospeada in 1st person? how can you fly a legioss and watch it manuver and transform? FPS giant transforming robot game = lame ass Quote
SuperOstrich Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 I had to resize your pics UNSpacy. They were way too huge. It wreaks havoc on the board format. If you want to keep that resolution, just split the image into multiple pics. Quote

FPS giant transforming robot game = lame ass Maybe because you never get to pilot a fighter? Lame. Defeats the whole point of the game considering the enormity of the role the two fighters played in the series. Also, as far as I know there are only 3 types of handguns ever shown in the show. There's also a rocket/grenade launcher, forearm blades, rockets and the mini rockets for the ride armors. Sounds pretty limiting in weaponry already. I'd rather play Quake or Half Life vinnie Quote
Cdr Fokker Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Really what a MOSPEADA/RT NG game needs is to be not just FPS, but also TPS. i.e., first-person for on-foot combat, third-person for ride armor, and selectable cameras for Legioss/Alpha (or Tread/Beta). Maybe just have the ability to swap between first- and third-person views no matter what you're doing/wearing/piloting/whatever (like in the good old Shogo - MAD) Still, I find it quite amusing that they call it "Robotech: Invasion". I had a MOSPEADA/RT NG mod for Half-Life a ways back by that same name (I removed the "RT" part just before the project's demise in order to win over some MOSPEADA fans) - which, BTW, did in fact utilize both first- and third-person perspectives by the last dev version (though I did not yet have the Cyclone truly transformable yet) Quote
JsARCLIGHT Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 For small arms, Mospeada is actually quite varied and complex. They have the ubiquitous Galant pistol which has three different configurations, the Wolf pistol which can be with or without suppressor, then they have those two larger rifle/pistol weapons that have boxy fronts (used by Ray in the "Inherit the Stars" episode and by Jim in the episode they are trying to evade the Inbits early in the show), then there is the Wolf SMG (the one Mint uses in episode two for two seconds till the mag runs out), the heavy assault rifle carried by Stick's mospeada, the rocket launcher carried by Houquet's Mospeada (and is man portable as seen in several episodes) and if you look even closer there are several other nameless one-off pistols and rifles that show up every other episode... throw in the limpet mines, grenades and a few other "made up just for the game" guns and you have a pretty thick arsenal. Still, FPS is a bad idea... Quote
BYG-DAMN Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 FPS is ass. Its good for a lot of things, but this should have been done Drand theft Auto style. Ground combat where you run over to a bike that can turn into a jet pack. That would of been cool. Maybe we can toggle out of FPS, I mean how the hell is one guy supposed to fight those invid without ride armor anyway? Quote
bsu legato Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Am I the only person who thinks that this game does not even take place on Earth? Maybe this is the Sentinels game we've waited so long for! Quote

Legioss Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 What screenshots? The pictures at the top look like drawings to me. Quote
SuperOstrich Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 The first image in the first post of this thread shows 3 screenshots. They are not drawings. Quote

SuperOstrich Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 SkullLeaderVF-X, I JUST asked the original poster to keep his image sizes down. Please keep them in the 600-700 pixel wide range. I resized it for you this time. Quote

Cyclone Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 The graphics don't look the best, to the point I'd prefer a return to cell shading. Not to mention taking Invid mecha on foot is not sound tactically, or the fact how can he lug around Cyclone weaponry without a Cyclone... I doubt it'll be the killer-app to convince me buying a console is a worthwhile way of using money Cyc Quote
Prowlus Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 Sorry if it's not that good of a scan. 1st. one. why is Optimus Prime doing a "Rainbow brite" inpersonation? Quote
UN Spacy Posted August 28, 2003 Author Posted August 28, 2003 I gotta agree with you guys, whoever came up with the art on the left page should be shot. It looked really awful....the rainbow coalition Optimus Prime, Megatron statue, happy kid with Legioss. It all looks awful. Quote
Isamu Atreides 86 Posted August 28, 2003 Posted August 28, 2003 that looks almost exactly like that last few levels of Half-Life. Quote
SkullLeaderVF-X Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 Maybe the Energon Prime is Optimus Prime and Rainbow Bright's bastard child? Quote
lebhead Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 well, the first screens look good to me. not spectauclar, but definitely not crappy. hopefully the cyclone effects will be cool, like the "ball" effects were in Metroid Prime. Quote
Yohsho Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 that looks almost exactly like that last few levels of Half-Life. I know it even has the egg sack. Quote
Vostok 7 Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 that looks almost exactly like that last few levels of Half-Life. That's what I thought!! Is it just me, or does that one Invid have boobies? <_< Vostok 7 Quote
Mislovrit Posted August 29, 2003 Posted August 29, 2003 Is it just me, or does that one Invid have boobies? Vostok 7 It sure does and it also haves nipples. Quote
