Same here. I don't know how I feel about the actor at the moment, but Gunn hasn't let me down yet.

So far so good. I can’t really think of a bad one either. From Super to the guardians of the galaxy to The Suicide Squad, they’ve all been great and it shows that the guy loves the subject matter

Kudos to Gunn for recognizing you have to have the John Williams theme.

Darn straight!

That trailer is the first one (for any movie) in a long time that made me look forward to seeing a movie.

Seems they are jumping in with a world already inhabited with superheroes and I assume supervillians....works for me, even if I probably will have zero knowledge of some of the obscure characters than Gunn seems to gravitate to....but don't need any more origin movies...so I will just sit back and let Gunn do his thing....so far his GotG Marvel entries have been my favorites....should be fun...

Its a new direction by going full comic book. Maybe something I can take my kids to? We shall see.

Gunn loves comics and doesn’t exactly shy away from their absurdity and that shows in this trailer

Agree with everyone here;

I was hard on this movie over how the outfit looked too much like a scuba suit as well as the actor "not fitting the role" in my mind. But seeing this trailer, while cautious, has some optimism growing in me on this one. Like Transformers One (I wasn't too keen on that one until I saw it!), I had a negative opinion on it. But being wrong about that one, and seeing this trailer, I think I'm going to give this the benefit of the doubt and not jump to conclusions (at least any further than I did! lol ).

That they're using a rendition of the John Williams theme: that actually got my heart going! :D Been rewatching this trailer a few times just to hear their version!

Gunn stated on Threads that he does not want to tell Superman or Batman origin stories since everyone knows their origins.

I would say, think of this story as a Year 2-type story. The relationships are built or building to where they collide.

James Gunn’s Superman Introduction Avoids a Major Origin Movie Mistake (ComicBook.com)

Quote

Gunn then teased some of the relationships between Superman‘s supporting cast. “We just start in the middle of the action. Superman already exists. Lois and Clark already know each other. Lex hates Superman’s guts from the beginning, although they don’t know each other personally. So we start right in the middle of the action. It takes place over a short amount of time.”

Also, despite what we see, Krypto is not a "good boy".

‘Superman’: James Gunn On Superhero’s “Complicated” Relationship With Krypto; “He’s Not Nearly The Best Dog”

Spoiler

“His relationship with Krypto is complicated. He’s not nearly the best dog. There’s a lot more to Krypto than you see in this trailer.”

To be fair, we’ve been getting constant reboots of these characters in movies and cartoons that these two definitely don’t need a backstory anymore. They can easily drop a hint and everyone knows what they’re talking about.

Anyway, kinda fun to see Nathan Fillion keeping out the disgruntled fans

It might not be an origin story but the scenes at The Planet certainly make it look like he is just starting the job there.  So it is not just picking up with Superman already known in the world.

I think Hoult can be a pretty good Luthor. He's a good actor.

As for the hair, it's part of the disguise. C'mon, someone is going to be thinking, 'look how 'poofy' it is,' rather than thinking, 'hey, if he just removed the glasses...'

This movie might finally wake me up from superhero fatigue.

There’s really lots of characters though, hopefully the main ones have enough screen time.

Please don't have an overly dramatic boxing match at the end where the big bad and Supes are pummeling each other with their fists and various vehicles and buildings while causing no apparent damage or pain to each other.

I'm just so tired of superhero films where the ending is just literally a big punch-up.

I do dislike Clark Kent's curly mushroom hair style. Don't know why young men think its cool because like most fashionable hair styles it won't age well.

I feel like this will actually work well. He’s always supposed to be mistaken for a nerd and here he actually looks like one. Straighten out the hair and get rid of the glasses and put on a special suit and it might be the first time you wouldn’t recognize that they’re the same guy.

I feel like miscasting Lex Luthor is becoming an art.

I actually think that he can pull it off and do a great job of it unlike Jesse eisenberg, who would have maybe made a good Riddler instead.

Nice trailer no doubt.

But am more excited on a possibility of a new JL movie if ever thats to be...

😅

Seems that there’s a lot of excitement around this one compared to other marvel and dc comic book hero movies, so I think it might do well at the box office and they already have quite a few characters for a justice league here.

I think it's actually brilliant; changing the hair as well as adding glasses can really alter how people perceive someone's face.

That’s basically what I was saying a bit above. It’s like transforming a total doof into a manly hero and helps conceal who he really is a lot better

Sorry, didn't see your comment! But yeah, it works very well!

No worries. It’s interesting to see that I wasn’t the only one that thought the same thing here
