ikalon Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Hello, I'm posting here as I'm a total noob on macross stuff, so I'm sorry if my post seems a bit dumb. However I need help and I don't think I could find a better place than here to ask my questions. I'm quite old and I needed to sort my old toys and found back a macross hi-metal (image attached) from 1984 (I think) and wanted to find back all the accessories I could to remake him as pristine as possible. However, as usual, many were lost/broken/disposed of to my great sadness. I'm trying to find and buy what's missing (all the back jet, right leg, gun, etc...) I'm not even sure what to search as I'm really totally clueless on the full accessories. My questions were simple, do you think it is possible to find those spare parts ? Or is it totally helpless ? Thanks for your attention Quote
Hiriyu Posted November 2 Posted November 2 (edited) What you seem to have there is the 1990 Bandai release of the VF-1S Super Valkyrie package. Check out Jenius's overview of that release and package contents here. Edited November 2 by Hiriyu Quote

Thanks for your attention It would be extremely difficult to find all of the 'blue' armor pieces specific to the 1990 Super VF-1S....if you are just looking to make your toy 'whole' again....you may be better off trying to find a boxed sample with a very 'yellowed' VF-1S, but with relatively good condition accessories....I would suggest to search on Yahoo Japan Auctions and purchase via a proxy like Buyee......if you are looking to make it whole to sell it, you are wasting your time as it would not fetch more than $100-150 in its current condition even with all the armor pieces and accessories....in short, if you were to somehow manage to track down all of the missing parts, you'd end up spending more than what it would be worth on the current market for a loose/complete sample.... Hello and thanks for your reply, indeed it would make sense to have a 90s version compared to my age, however it says "bandai 1984" so...don't know, the copyright isn't always reliable on the truc product year I suppose. On your link it really ressemble the 1990 version. I'll dig into it. How to be 100% sure though ? 12 hours ago, jvmacross said: It would be extremely difficult to find all of the 'blue' armor pieces specific to the 1990 Super VF-1S....if you are just looking to make your toy 'whole' again....you may be better off trying to find a boxed sample with a very 'yellowed' VF-1S, but with relatively good condition accessories....I would suggest to search on Yahoo Japan Auctions and purchase via a proxy like Buyee......if you are looking to make it whole to sell it, you are wasting your time as it would not fetch more than $100-150 in its current condition even with all the armor pieces and accessories....in short, if you were to somehow manage to track down all of the missing parts, you'd end up spending more than what it would be worth on the current market for a loose/complete sample.... That's really helpfull thank you, indeed I'm not really doing this for resell it, it's just a memento now for me and I'm ready to put a little money in it, clearly it won't be several hundred of euros. Buying a whole one isn't a bad idea but I wasn't eager to go through all the web to find a good resell website, so you're talking about Buyee ? I bet it's a reliable link then ? Quote
David Hingtgen Posted November 3 Posted November 3 Buyee is a proxy service that makes it much easier for people not living in Japan, to source from Japanese auction sites and sellers. I use "From Japan" myself. They act as middle-men, that purchase and receive the goods within Japan on your behalf, who then ship to you. You are 20x more likely to find the parts you need on a dedicated Japanese auction site/shop, than you are on Ebay etc. But many of such shops will not ship internationally, thus the need for a proxy agent within Japan that they will ship to. We can tell that yours is the 1990 release because the head sculpt is completely unique to that one release. Quote

Thanks for your attention Like many have recommended, it might be best to seek out a complete 1990 Banda 1/55 SuperValkyrie VF-1S. Finding the correct Super parts is a bit of a challenge as that particular blue armor is unique to that single release. All reissues have certain fits and colors that will not work with the 1990 mold. If you’re curious about the other varieties, you can peruse this thread. Grab a coffee or stiff drink, maybe even a sandwich cause it is going to be a long and entertaining read. Head on over the 1/55 Revisited page. Welcome to MacrossWorld. Quote
ikalon Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 Thanks for all your replies it was super useful, I'm really happy to have been able to identify it thanks to all your knowledge too. I'm going to go see the auction it seems a reasonnable price. Thank you again to all of you and your advices ! Quote
ikalon Posted November 4 Author Posted November 4 Sorry missed a question, any website giving an estimated price for them ? Quote
Bishop Posted November 4 Posted November 4 Welcome to the board! If you feel adventurous, you can find some 3D model for replacement armor parts to print in 3D. Destron design is printing great replacement (in jetfire red thought) and is cheaper than buying a new copy. Quote
