Chronocidal Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I'd say nuts to the redo, just go big, and give us more 1/48 valks. I'll just have to start selling off the older ones to afford them, but even that's a benefit, since it would mean the collection would shrink overall, since I'd be selling multiples to buy singles of the new generation. Quote
PointBlankSniper Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I honestly think 1/48 is a bad idea with how much bigger and pokier later valks are. It could probably sever some body parts if you dropped it. Quote
Sildani Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Now, now, using a Valkyrie as a letter opener has some merit. Quote

I think the 262 Hs can also do that with the wings (with or without the Lil’ Drakens). I’m going to guess that the Revival 27 will be $260 USD/$380 CDN. At that price, I might get a 1/6 figure or just be satisfied with the Renewal version. Quote
MKT Posted November 11 Posted November 11 Nothing seem pokier than the 31AX lol. Love that design, but quite hard to swoosh around. Quote

I find it (and most of the 31 series) much easier to handle if you remove the canards. It's not the best option, but it does give you a nice place to pick up the valk by. Quote
Hayama Kaito Posted November 11 Posted November 11 just my thought: the VF-25 might look better in matt finish, since it looks in a more "realistic", "Terran-ish" style in design language but the VF-27, with it's radical design and that COFFIN canopy and flameboyant colors, just make you believe that is more of some alien stuff rather than human made and gloss would fit better on VF-27 than matt to enhance the alien-ish feel. I just hope they could modifiy the crotch, make it stiffer and get rid of the brace piece on previous version or I'll skip this one because I own the 30th renewal version with super parts. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted November 12 Posted November 12 The original Yamato Sv-51 is the only valk that has drawn my blood more than once. (not that many have drawn blood at all, but the -51 is the only one where it happens like half the time you try to transform it) Quote
aurance Posted November 13 Posted November 13 Your skin is weak! I’ve trained so that mine is like steel. Also, I can no longer move. Quote

Chronocidal Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Ugh.. thanks for the reminder of how much of a janky mess the v.1 Bandai Frontier valks were. The extra armor packs just don't fit well at all. Quote
twich Posted November 14 Posted November 14 So is this like a pre amble to the Tamashii event that is going on on November 15th? Twich Quote
MacrossJunkie Posted November 14 Posted November 14 So basically this is the exact same toy as what we got years ago? Still missing the burgundy stripe on the hip gun plates, no additional panel lines, overdone tampo, having a glossy finish, etc. On the other hand, I can't say that was unexpected, but at least the other worldwide re-releases had a minor tweak here or there. jenius Posted November 14 Posted November 14 I think the pics are overexposed a little because it looks much worse for the matte finish. Quote
Chronocidal Posted November 14 Posted November 14 Yeah, it definitely looks like they just blasted it with spotlights for that picture. Really not helping sell it. Quote
borgified Posted November 14 Author Posted November 14 Still looks over saturated... If there is ZERO improvements from the renewal version, I'm just going to keep the renewal. Quote
PointBlankSniper Posted November 15 Posted November 15 I feel like these aren't even preproduction units for the revival. They probably just pulled an old revival out of storage for display, and blasted it with some semigloss. It's still undated and unpriced, so it's still pseudo vaporware like the fire valkyrie. At this point, they might not even have looked into whether they want to redesign anything yet. I'll keep huffing my hopium until the last moment, and pretend all the moaning will inspire them to make a couple tweaks lmao. Anyway, wallet is still safe for now. Quote

Bolt Posted November 15 Posted November 15 I've always loved this design. But not enough to get another one with (seemingly) not much difference. And I don't need another one just because it's matte. I agree the lighting must be over kill, it looks so pink.. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted November 15 Posted November 15 If anyone buys this and wants to sell off the boosters from their old one, I'm interested... (the odds of a revival Grace are low, I figure) Quote

That reminds me of the art style jumpscare with the new aquarion. Now we have one more thing to worry about with the new macross... It's kind of early for premium toys of a new series though. Usually these things show up late into the show, or even years after airing. Right now, we don't even have a broadcast date. The mecha and equipment designs could literally change right up to the last minute just before the episode it debuts in actually airs lol. Quote

I'm kind of beginning to agree with this perspective now that I've seen the matte finish (albeit low quality pics). The 27's are like race cars and the gloss is appropriate compared to the tamer 25's. The matte on the red 27 looks a little odd. Maybe better photos will change my mind again. 12 hours ago, David Hingtgen said: (the odds of a revival Grace are low, I figure) That said, the Grace is one of my favorite valks and I hope they re-release it. The green might even look good in matte compared with the red. Quote
David Hingtgen Posted November 15 Posted November 15 They changed the green between Grace releases----but in the wrong way. It should have been made MORE brownish and less green, but they made it even more green. They could possibly make a revival version "the brownest one yet", and get closer to the 1/72 model kit, but could just as easily go even further into an incorrect "pure green". Quote

A browner green would be awesome, for sure. Although, I do like the revival color even though it's not cannon. Edited November 15 by rematron Quote
