Teased roughly at the same time as VF-25f Alto Tornado. Yes.. It’s going to be eventually done.

Bera’s 27y with a possibility of Grace O’Conner’s version (maybe with the two heads?)

I'm getting the impression that the WWM Delta launch has been a fair flop, so now they're pulling out all of the old stuff from the last series that had international demand. :p

That makes what, seven WWM Frontier releases?  The WWM VF-25, Alto's YF-29, his Super VF-25, Michael's, the Armored Ozma coming, now the Tornado and Brera?

Compared with Delta, which had another rehashed Hayate, and... what else?  I wouldn't even call Max's YF-29 a Delta release, since that one's unfair on two levels, being the most re-painted Frontier mold, AND a favorite character from multiple previous series.

The one copy that I got the first time this came out came with a crumbling, broken nose cone.  I would very much enjoy a New DX Chogokin VF-27 Super with matte finish!

You forgot Alto's 171EX Full Set @Chronocidal in which it makes a total of eight in total for the Frontier franchise.

I have the 27y (1.5 version = Renewal) in storage and debating if I want to get this newer version.  The VF-25 didn't catch my interest, but the VF-27 did.

Sheesh, yeah, you're right, I forgot that one on the bottom of my pile. :p

For how popular the YF-19 seems, I wish they'd dig out some repaints for it, since they would probably sell pretty well.  It's kind of hilarious to me how much weight Frontier still pulls compared with Delta.

I admit though, I forget which Delta releases have actually been exported.  I know we got the Hayate super bundle, but did they release his 31AX here, or is that just available from Amazon because they're re-distributing the leftovers?

Delta is the worst Macross series because it was both incredibly boring and had no idea what it wanted to be. Was it supposed to be a mecha series that happened have idols in it? Or an idol series that happened to have mecha in it? I don't think even Kawamori knows (or cares because he already got a dump truck full of money from Bandai).

Anyway, hope they fix the issues the "renewal" 27 had, like the improperly painted stripes around the hip armor. Though they botched the chest stripes on the revival 25 so I'm not counting on it.

Yes! I was wishing for this. Hope they make improvements to the hips and shoulders. The last version was an upgrade over the original, but still felt a step below the VF-25 renewals. Then if they release the ghost drones as a separate add-on, that would be perfect.

Person I just bought a VF-27 from is breathing a huge sigh of relief right now. I bought their VF-27 and held off on their VF-25G + supers combo because with the 25F, 25G, and 25S all getting combo releases, surely the 25G was right around the corner? Never would I ever have thought an "enemy mecha" would get a release before the fourth member of the protagonist's squad. Called that completely wrong.

I'll buy one reluctantly... Not my favorite frontier toy.

Rest assured, all of your reluctant purchases are greatly appreciated for your perspectives. ^_^

I'm not sure how many of these I even have, but I'm thinking I have one of the originals, two of the re-release with the packs, and one of the green re-releases with both heads.  I doubt I'll grab another, but you never know how low they might drop on Amazon.

This, I'd be happy to get one, but I'm not so sure about the Tornado pack. I already have that from the Renewal version, so Revival version is very unnecessary. AND I already have a revival version. I don't need two of the same thing.

But this, I'm looking forward to.

I’m going to think that one improvement for the Revival 27 will be the three screws on the upper thigh assembly, have no idea out the cracked/broken nose cone and I believe that the toes are also the weakest point as well? It’s been quite a while since I watched @jenius review on the 27 and read up in the comments on the 27 on the blog page.

Semi-gloss finish is a given as always.

That’s unexpected. I’m happy with my Grace O’Connor Renewal version, I suspect this will be a Revival Brera version.

That said, I bet the matte red will POP. Wonder if I should get one to display behind my Melda Dietz figure… no, not the right franchise, but the colors I bet would match beautifully.

For me it depend on two things: 1) fix the hip collapsing in battroid without spacer, and 2) fix the tolerance of the integrated back brace so the back of the gerwalk doesn’t droop. That would be a sale.

It's highly unlikely that they change anything, given the track record of these revivals. That means it's probably gonna have parts that are older than the renewals, like the tornado, since both of these recycled the original release's parts for their renewals.

Do hope they'll do one of the Macross 30 schemes as well as Brera and Grace.

The revivals have hip ratchets and battroid chest locks that the renewals do not, so it's possible.

Yeah, I get that I made a lazy absolute statement that's technically untrue, but these changes have so far had negligible effect, while they skimped on truly making improvements.

The effect of the chest lock is allegedly intangible, while the hip changes, including the extra screws, seem have done nothing as well. The hips instead are said to have even become worse, possibly because of the old parts having worn out molds. The 25G revival hasn't been selling very fast after so many rounds of this. It's possible they do change something, but I think it's best to expect that possibility low, and the effectiveness of it even lower, if it actually happens.

They had the chance to rework the parts forming bits of the super parts, and braced the wings with integrated solutions in preparation for the tornado parts, but that doesn't see to have happened. I don't expect the 27 will get extra care after seeing that. IDK if the 27 shares stuff like hip parts with the 25s, but I'm hoping it doesn't inherit the new jiggly hips.

Considering the trend of their efforts in quality and design, I think it's already asking for a lot that these revivals and WWM releases come out no worse than the originals, plus matte coating, despite the chance of "improvements" lol.

I'll buy one of the upcoming Revival VF-27, as:

1) I currently don't own a Bandai DX VF-27. Can't remember why, a it's lost in the midst of time but I got rid of my previous ones years ago, either I sold them off or threw them out,

2) The new VF-27 Revival will be kept in fighter mode, which is my preferred display mode for all my VF toys (my display ratio is Fighter = 80% / Battroid = 15% / Gerwalk = 5%), so this will avoid any potential issues with Battroid and Gerwalk mode if they still exist with the new Revival version.

I dunno man, my Max YF-29 is vastly better off with the chest lock and hip ratchets than my two previous YF-29’s.

I first got the Max YF-29 from preorder madness and don't rembember it having ratcheting hips. I remember when I went back to collect Mirage's AX from mandarake second, I noted to myself that I finally got to experience the fabled ratcheting hips that everyone wanted to be backported to old releases, that Max's 29 didn't have.

I don't want to fiddle with my unit to check, but I've now just checked wotafa's review of Max's 29, and neither saw nor heard ratcheting when he moved the hips.

I just checked anymoon, and the chest ratchet was documented as a change since Alto's YF-29 full set pack. And I also agree with his review that the ratcheting points are so far apart that they serve little purpose. He also mentions the move from one hip screw to three hip screws, but still no sign of any ratchets there. Jenius doesn't seem to have a Max review at all, so it's not even possible to conflate which unit he found the feature on.

Anyway, the VF-25's hips have been documented to cause increasing ire from the anniversary version, to Alto's revival, to Michael's revival. I've seen complaints even on japanese twitter accompanied by the flood of stock and price drop on mandarake, especially for the latter unit. It's true that the 25 just got the chest ratchet and the 3 hip screws on these WWM/revival line, but those do not appear to bet new to the 29. Max preceeding the revivals, just adds a data point to how those three screw hips are decreasingly helpful. It just makes things more worrying for the 27, if the internal joints are from the same molds, since there's still the Armored Ozma and Tornado Alto production runs to get through.

The only copuim fueled saving grace is that Michael's unit's reputation got so bad, and knowing how heavy Ozma's armored parts are, it could have forced bandai to finally tighten their molds up. But that is very wishful thinking, despite having Ozma's unit preordered myself.

I wish Bandai would rebuild the Frontier line from scratch and tampo the hell out of it like they're doing with the 1/48 line. I know they tend to go a little overboard but I think it would be worth the price hike over buying a 10+ year old toy with a matte finish and practically non-existent improvements.

The question being how much of a price hike can one stomach...:unknw:

Hmm self tampo kits anyone? 🤣
