Create a japanese account, buy points with digital japanese cards from nin-nin, etc..., download game.

Though this is an odd grayarea, there was that Fabtek English version released in NA.  Not sure if HG was involved or this was still a case of Licensing Wild West.

This method works like a charm.  The JP eShop wouldn't accept my American VISA or Paypal.  PlayAsia seems to be the place to buy a JP eShop card.

Yep, and my boys still like playing it too even though the graphics look "blocky"

While I haven't downloaded this game for the PS5, I would bet that this game will play on a PS5.  I have a  JP Playstation account and was able to play downloaded JP games on the PS4, so I'm gonna guess the same can happen for the PS5.  The PS4 and PS5 are region locked for movies, not for games.

On a side note, the Macross II arcade game will be released in the same fashion as SDF Macross.

Yay! Created a Japanese account, got the card from PlayAsia, bought the game and been happily playing it on my PS5 for the last hour.😊

All I can say is thank god for Google Translate!

Oh crap, it sounds like they're hitting up all of the Arcade Macross games.  I'd bet we do get Plus at some point.

Somewhere I'd love for a Scramble Valkyrie to show up since I still think that was the best of the shmup Macross games but that's not an Arcade game.
