I heard about this new movie but missed that Gareth Edwards is directing. I didn't care for The Creator but Rogue One and Godzilla was amazing work by Gareth. Visually this could be the best Jurassic Park film yet and hopefully its the same for the story.

That being said Jurassic Park and Lost World deserves remakes that follow the books more closely and Gareth Edwards would have been perfect for that imho.

While I do think that in this case a reboot from the ground up is the best idea, I think that if they stick to the books then a series would be better. Problem there is the extreme budget that it would require. Then again Amazon is willing to throw some extreme cash at a proven failure.

Anyway, I’m big on the dinos, and like those that watch every crappy Godzilla movie or every horrible fast and furious sequel, I’ll probably go check out another stupid Jurassic World movie and not sure exactly why. I watch them and enjoy them and yet hate them at the same time, it’s confusing

The newer World movies blend together so much I don't remember what events happened in what film, they're entirely forgettable. That said, if I remember right, didn't the last one end with all the remaining dinosaurs living on some reserve or something and they were all flourishing? Now they're on the brink of dying off? Or they're in some kind of danger? What? Why? How? I get it, because another movie needs to happen, but jesus christ these movies retcon the events and endings of previous ones basically instantly just to set up another, newer conflict.

The last movie ended with the cloned girl saving the dinos by setting them free. As in, let loose on civilization. Sounds like some did not survive where they were, whereas others migrated to more temperate climes.

Hm, dunno, the World trilogy I didn't really dig all that much. The first was okay, but Kingdom and Dominion I felt were pretty boring, Dominion most of all and hadn't seen it since it was in theaters.
Still though, if they can come up with a good story and nice visuals I'll see it.

It’s gonna be stupid, but I’m pretty sure I’ll end up watching it

That first look image all by itself shows it will be stupid.  As in that is a stupidly over long apparatus to fire a needle of some kind to deliver what appears to be some kind of drug.  All that length does it make it more unwieldy.  And a scope?  Is that a joke?

I just think it should at least be covered by something. That thing is a safety hazard for sure. I’ll probably still watch it. As bad as these movies are, I usually at least find the characters somewhat likeable and Dinosaurs. Can’t forget Dinosaurs.

Sorry I can't hear you over the sound of Scarlett Johansson being in the picture.

I want my "Dinossaucers" in the franchise!

They’ve already mixed amphibian and Dino dna, and they’ve cloned humans, I don’t see why they wouldn’t have human Dino hybrids

I feel like this movie just got announced a couple months back and there's already a trailer? I'm guessing my memory of the timeline is off, either way, yeah, that's certainly another Jurassic sequel.

I just can't be bothered with these movies anymore honestly, OK, the first one was and still is great fun.  The 2nd one was crap, the 3rd one, as @TangledThorns said wasn't bad and is watchable, but after that, man, I just totally lost interest and I couldn't event tell you how many there are now. It's like every few years they find a new star to play in the movie and the graphics guys get new video cards to make better dino's and here we go again!  As Ian Malcom said in the first movie, "They are so busy wondering if they could, they didn't stop to think if they should" - or something like that...kinda rings true with the repetitive nature of the sequels of this franchise.

It’s alright. I really can’t defend them in anyway, all I can say is that this particular franchise is to me what bad Godzilla movies or more and more ridiculous Fast and Furious movies are to other people. Somehow no matter how bad these Jurassic movies can be, I’m still entertained and still have fun with them, but I totally understand how bad they actually are at the same time and completely understand why other people wouldn’t want to bother with them.

I have not kept track - when is this supposed to take place, last thing I remember watching was Dinos were all over the planet.

I think that’s only certain types. Many of the larger ones seem to be stuck on the islands. But my understanding is this is after the other Jurassic world movies.
I do think it’s odd that so many medium sized dinosaurs weren’t able to be rounded up around the world, but I don’t watch these things expecting an intelligent story

I keep wondering why Scarlett chose to sign on.

She needs the money. Her character got killed off in the MCU and her solo movie wasn’t all that great and had pandemic problems. She sued Disney and that kind of left her in a bad position for a bit with the studios. She basically needed a fresh start as soon as possible to show she’s still young enough for a blockbuster and that she can still work with a studio
