I mean, I'm not going to judge anyone who's into the Unix Square VF-1.  I hope it finds its audience.  I just feel comfortable saying that I'm not its audience.

So... uh.. what's up with these normal looking Unix Square Figures that were just announced? They look as if Bandai made a Robot Damashii Ver Anime of the 1J, but it's from Unix Square?!?

BTW it's three different figures they do not transform.

They look fairly decent....depending on scale and price I may pick up a set just to have something to fiddle with....

1\144 scale would be nice, but probably 1\100...

I like this pose....

Actually I might change my mind if they were 1/144. I could use some little ones

As much as I like the proportions of the PlaMax, this is nice to have if it is 1/100 since it will be fully painted and assembled.

The only gripe I have about this are those weird shoulder joints.

Still it looks pretty good.

That should make it around 1/72 scale if I'm not mistaken.

Battroid mode is pretty cool with all those articulation points, happy there is a company that is finally putting some emphasis on this and also some neat features.

Ok, at 1/72 I'm out....at this point in the VF-1 evolutionary journey....I personally cannot justify or have a reason to purchase a non-transforming VF-1 toy....maybe if it's 20 bucks plus shipping....lol

Posted

Zero interest. If the scale supports transformation and it doesn't have any, it doesn't deserve my purchase. I don't care if it's a license restriction because a transformable license went to someone else, in my opinion there's no point to it.

Tiny little ones to stick to an SDF-1? Sure, but that's it.

Now, for their thicc transformable one, if it's as heavy as those thighs might lead you to believe (due to diecast), I'll chase that chubby. I still think it may be a fun toy. Maybe as fun as a Chunky Monkey.

Whoa, $100 each? $300+ for the 'deluxe' pack? That's a lot more than I would have expected. For $150 you can get the ThreeZero and have it all in one toy. For $100 you can get the KitzConcept (without the display stand). Given today's exchange rate, you can get a DX for less than $150 also (at MSRP). Hard value proposition there. We also already have the Calibre Wings 1/72 VF-1 models so curious how those will compare. The GERWALK is really the odd man out, not much I want to do with GERWALK that I can't already do with transforming toys.

$100 for 7 inch non-transforming figure seems excessive to me. I'll probably pass on these. The gimmicks are neat but probably something I'll never use while displaying them. And why is the Deluxe pack the only way to get the pilot? You would think Rick Hunter in the pilot seat would be a given part of the figure. They should of added something else in the deluxe set like a special stand.

Great articulation and I love those shoulder and butterfly joints.  Not so great price.

I agree there, but I don’t need it in 1/72 and that price is definitely a bit high. If it was something different than 1/72, like 1/100 or smaller then I’d be more interested but as is it really doesn’t look different enough from the plamax.

At least these look better than the transformable ones seen earlier.

I'd be interested in the fighter mode ones only though.  They'd go well with my 1/72 scale aircraft models and I kinda want to compare against Calibre Wings' diecast models.

This is f***ing stupid lol. I mean I do love their very animate accurate styling and proportion but I can't with what sentinel is doing here...

Say you purchased the premium package that include the 3 modes + pilot:

  1. you have fighter and gerwalk where the cockpit can be seen but you only have 1 pilot figure...
  2. The gerwalk mode contains SP parts for B/G mode, pre-transformed (parts forming) parts for F mode.. and you only get 1 pair of pylons. You can only have ONE mode displayed in SP parts realistically.

I am tempted to get the G mode but I will be left with a ton of spare parts & even if I get another F mode I would still be left with a ton of unuseable spare parts.

WTF.

Ain't nobody got time for transforming their valks anymore.

I think it’s more about the look than the gimmick. None of the transforming ones look quite right. But the trade off here is the cost is too high

These figures are perfect for collectors with neither the motor skills required to assemble a simple model kit, nor the ability to transform a toy...

[ . . . ]

...but yet have enough interest in Macross (or Robotech) to commit a significant amount of disposable income...  🤔

[ . . . ]

...which couldn't possibly amount to a viable customer base. 🤨

I expect these to sell poorly, if at all. 😒

Heck....there's still a ton of parts-forming required so it still doesn't meet your first criteria....

At 1/144 I'd be OK with the parts-forming....but it would also need to be under 100usd for a complete set of all three modes plus the FPs to meet your second criteria....at that pricepoint I could rationalize to myself their purchase so they could join my 1/144 Doyushas and Takatoku Toys sets....

They've been in the pipes for awhile. Folks were confused with these pics and their transformable one. From their Facebook page:

I assume that's the proto or test shot, yeah?

Kind of feels like the only one of these worth considering would be the battroid, just purely due to the unique things it does compared with previous non-transforming figures.

Fighter and gerwalk are already done better by fully transforming models though, and only including one pilot with the bundle is a dirty kick to the jewels.

A bare prototype to show off the metal content. It's tougher to see but it looks like all the joints are metal.
