Eh... maybe he's that confident (or overconfident) in Gladiator II

Maybe he's trying to pressure the studio into greenlighting Gladiator III based on hype alone before Gladiator II ever hits theaters.

Maybe he's just George R.R. Martin-ing so he can secure some appearance fees to talk about what he'd like to do.

Maybe he's just feeling insecure because Fede Alvarez stole his thunder and probably his franchise by making a better Alien movie than his last two attempts.

I agree. Russell Crowe is the best in this role.

Denzel Washington's usually great in any role he's in. But here he somehow looks out of place..

Denzel and Russell should make another film together,

"Already An Idea" is a long long long long long... way away from a third movie being reality.  That is not even a napkin plot sketch.

I didn’t know there was hype for Gladiator 2. I’ve seen the preview, but doesn’t seem like a lot of talk good or bad either way going on. Maybe it’s a bit early for that.

The studio has already seen a rough cut of the film, if not the finished product. They're not going to make a decision based solely on hype.

I feel so let down by this movie. It should not have been made. This isn't as bad as I felt after I saw The Phantom Menace, but I'm actually kinda angry about it.

Eh... that seems to be the theme with all these late af or unnecessary sequels. I was planning on seeing Gladiator 2 and may still do since I'm off next week. Whatever, I got time to kill. lol.

What baffles me is that while it has decent, but not great reviews, it has a really good audience score.

Maybe the audiences now just wanted to see some dude in sandals kicking butt, but audience that loved the first film already knew it was kinda pointless and stayed home

I saw it just now. Thought it was perfectly fine. CGI was very obvious at times. Ending I feel is too optimistic and some other story beats were too clean given the rest of the movie. It was never going to live up to the first, but still, all that said, it comported itself well.

What was so bad about the movie as to be angering?

It's a soulless money grab that fails at everything that made the original so good.

Spoiler

The second movie feels like e character blending machine. Some characters deserve more screentime before they are killed.

It is not easy to make a sequel as good as Gladiator  1. It was already perfect

Gladiator 2 is on Paramount+. Just finished watching it and I'm glad I didn't pay to see it in the theater. Yeah, such a terrible money grab. Ridley Scott is not ending his career in style it seems.

Sometimes people get old and those glory days are over. He has some great creative ideas, but I get the feeling that he needs someone to help him organize those ideas in the right ways. And maybe instead of a yes man, he needs a no bro once in a while

How do you know he has some great creative ideas? Where you there?😜

I have no idea how the same man who meticulously made The Duelists on of the most realistic depictions of the Napoleonic Wars could botch Napoleon so badly.

Jokes aside, his last good film and the one people will likely remember as his swan song is The Last Duel and that performed terribly at the box office.

There are things even In something as flawed as Prometheus or Raised by Wolves or even Gladiator 2 that are interesting, but he needs someone to sort them out and put the right idea with the right project and other times he just needs a bro to tell him, that ain’t gonna work at all. He definitely has a certain creative and lately almost over creative way of directing or producing projects that could be far better handled with some major help
