Froy Posted July 25 Posted July 25 Catching up with the DX line. Finally grabbed a first release VF-1J. From Mandarake, 28k Yen. Box is a bit beaten up but as long the toy is good I don't mind it a lot. Quote

Bought it back in the day when I first started collecting, and now have one AFA graded. It displays fantastically well. I'm fascinated with modern toys that morph into vintage ones. The early Yamato 1/48's and 1/72's are soon to become antiques (official at 25 years old). It's fun to see the evolution of toymaking. A lot of my collecting reflects this evolution as I try to sample each of the lines/brands ... Bandai produces the absolute best, but you can't discount the influence Yamato has had over the years. Their 1/48's set the gold standard in CGI molding and Bandai has been cashing in ever since with their DX line, which owes a great debt to it. Quote

vt102 Posted July 27 Posted July 27 I'm glad I was able to get this. I was late to the pre order and took a chance with Luna Park. My second DX Valkyrie (first one was Roy's S through HLJ). Quote
Sanity is Optional Posted July 30 Posted July 30 (edited) Sorry, as a mechanical engineer going to have to roll my eyes suuuuuuper hard at that take. CAD lets people like me put onto "paper", and into the real world exactly what is in our heads, and do it with good tolerancing, well defined curves, and straight lines/flat panels. What you see with "hand made" before was a machinist going over the molds with a file until the test parts actually fit together the way they were supposed to, or something approaching it. The tolerances were huge, the gaps were ugly, the lines are screwed up because things had to be tweaked until they fit. What you are actually complaining about is the designs themselves, not the methods people are using to make them. Also, the fact that you are lumping CAD, AI, and CGI together is frankly insulting. MKT Posted July 31 Posted July 31 This being a duplicate, I think one of the biggest fan on this forum @mjenius928 will like this. Got another copy of the Miria 639, and even though it's an opened item, I'm quite surprised that Miria in her wedding dress is a nice bright white. My first copy some time ago had very slight yellowing going on all around when I got it, and I always thought that was the way is until now. Quote
Froy Posted August 2 Posted August 2 (edited) Ostrich arrived from Nin-nin with a good dinged corner. Seems shipping wasn't the issue since the Nin-nin shipping box has no damages Opening it latter tonight to see if I hit a prize on the broken parts roulette Edited August 2 by Froy Quote

vt102 Posted August 6 Posted August 6 Since my Ostrich arrived damaged. I'm in limbo with LP. I had an impulse buy from @frankell05 to cheer me up. LOL I wanted this when it first came out, but missed the pre-order. Quote

Pontus Posted August 14 Posted August 14 I haven't watched Frontier yet, but it's in the queue. I like the color and style of the 25G almost as much as the RVF, altho the revival finish is noice. Quote
MKT Posted August 14 Posted August 14 I’ll always remember Frontier valks as my entry point in Macross & toy collecting. I’ll never forget holding a renewal VF-25F & going misty eyed seeing how much toys have progressed from as I was a kid. Just only few years prior to that, I happened to pick up a Transformers Alternity, and only that in isolation, and thought that was the high line of toy engineering. How wrong I was. Quote
twich Posted August 15 Posted August 15 Just today got my copy of the DX YF-21 and the Hi Metal R VF-0A +Ghost Booster, both from BBTS! No bent head laser! Twich Quote
Agent-GHQ Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Gonna need a case of VE-1 Elint too (whenever, if ever, it gets made) Quote

Thanks man, this Kakizaki is heading for a suit of Gerwalk Armor... which would have prevented his death at Millia's hands... and the future of Macross would be changed forever because now Max could be a stay-at-home dad and have another 73 kids... But yeah, plan on getting a red Q-Rau, have firing effect @ the Armored Kakizaki, with the attack bouncing off the armor. Naturally, Kakizaki would be commanding Battle 7. Pontus Posted August 28 Posted August 28 (edited) Isn't Freyja just the cutest! I guess my figuarts can stop masquerading as a VFG now. Btw, what's the deal with the cherries/apples(?) and the valk dog thing? Is this from the show/movies? Edited August 28 by Pontus Quote
Froy Posted August 31 Posted August 31 Picked up 2 more brownies from the post office at the start of the week. Just got time to unpack them. One is opened and the other still sealed. Both from Mandarake. Been lucky that this 2 popped at the online store early in the night for me in Mexico. Quote
sh9000 Posted September 1 Posted September 1 Congrats @Froy. How many HMR CFs do you have now? I might have seen a couple a while back in my email notifications but missed them. Quote
Froy Posted September 4 Posted September 4 One more Brownie. Probably the luckiest pick so far. A couple popped at Mandarake almost together (the opened one from my last post). The first one seems that whoever grabbed didn't pay for it. And it became available a couple of days since my last order. This one comes in a very pristine box, even the store staff cared to slap the store sticker on the side. On 8/31/2024 at 8:54 PM, sh9000 said: Congrats @Froy. How many HMR CFs do you have now? I consider my self lucky as hell since my 4 picks from Mandarake have been popping at very nice hours for me in Mexico. Past months for the time I wake up they were already gone. I was willing for just 2 or 3 but now it seems this is going to be a bottomless pit 😂 Quote

Pontus Posted September 6 Posted September 6 Got my 3rd SV-262 (for the only model I can display in all 3 modes) with another draken set. Also got the 3zero VF-1J from amazon. I think this is the nicest iteration of the VF-1 I've seen so far! Quote
