This one was a must have since I started collecting the line. It took me some days waking up very early here in Mexico to catch up with the time Mandrake put stuff on line. In Jungle stuff lats for a little more time. 9 hours ago, MKT said: Nice buys. Roy’s 1S reminds me of when Bandai made 2 separate listings for it, one with the stand and one without. Definitely this one is most hurtful one to the wallet that I have brought in. At 23k yen, but, slow mail and Jungle reducing the value of the contents on the shipping labels so you don't get dinged by customs compensated it a bit. I should be picking up my Nexx VF-2SS from the post office later today. Quote

Jungle still able to under declare? I guess that's good news for some of us, especially when Mandarake has stopped doing so. Meanwhile, another HMR VF-0D. Quote

VT-1 comes from Mandarake (opened, seemed untouched and Roy VF-1S from Jungle (only the Tamashi shipper box was open) Almost there, just a couple more to go. If you have some extra cash, you should consider buying some vintage Gakken/Takatoku toys, send them over to AFA to be graded, pay for the priority tier, and have them shipped back to you at cost. It's super cheap, I promise. Quote

I'd love to get my hands on a Takatoku VF-1S GBP set. https://order.mandarake.co.jp/order/detailPage/item?itemCode=1225830371&ref=list&keyword=Takatoku vf 1&lang=en That one. And a VF-1J would be really nice too. My only hopes is to have the money in hands as soon I see an opportunity. Quote

Radioguy Posted June 12 Posted June 12 (edited) Perhaps it's time for Bandai to give the 1/55s another run. Edited June 12 by Radioguy Quote

MKT Posted June 13 Posted June 13 If Bandai gives the 1/55 another run, I wonder if it would be better to give it a small update by adding one or two more articulation points? Perhaps just a ball joint at the end of the swing bars at the hips so it can finally do a basic A-stance. Or should it remain as a straight reissue? 3 hours ago, MacrossMania said: with Harmony Gold's stranglehold of the US license gone, now may be the perfect time. The appeal is the simple, and easy transformation and nostalgic build! This is what most people started with... So changing the overall basics is not going to sell, We already have better build Valk's, so the only need to release VF-1's that where teased from Takatoku back in the days! like the VF-1D... But like @sh9000 say's, we will probably see Bandai DX Chogokin Destroyds before we see another release of any 1:55 😢 Still can't beat a firing GU-11 Gunpod though! 😂 Edited June 14 by grogall Quote
sh9000 Posted June 13 Posted June 13 Actually I said the HMR Tomahawk and Phalanx but DX Destroids would be sweet. Quote

I can see why the chunky doesn't need changes if it is reissued again. It's just I'm seeing something similar over at the TF scene, where if I'm not mistaken (I didn't look much into it actually) new molds based on the original designs are being done, but with some updated articulations. So it's like a best of both worlds - a callback to nostalgia with some modern articulations to at least enable some basic decent poses. But the chunky is much better than the original TF toys to begin with anyway haha. Quote

Froy Posted June 14 Posted June 14 (edited) Nexx has arrived after almos 4 weeks of EMS shipping (odd since it takes at most 2 weeks from Japan to my post office). From Mandarake, opened with a good amount of wear on the box but not as bad as my Silvie box. On 6/10/2024 at 11:51 AM, MKT said: Jungle still able to under declare? I know there is some very big risk being taken here but so far I haven't seen very much options. Also, I don't like to dig too much. I take whatever comes first if is not that crazy. Makes me long for the days of good old 80's advertising. Just poring over catalogues like they were Playboy magazines lol. All this talk of the Chunkies just goes to show how relevant they are so many decades later. The true inspiration still holds! Damn Harmony Gold! Wish someone would sue them...oh yea. I actually passed on all six Takatoku 1/55's from a guy in upstate New York. Impeccable condition, $100 each. My stupid ass couldn't be bothered. How I rue the day. And then there's the AFA 85 Soundwave and both cassette tapes for 5K (Soundwave alone just sold for 35K at the same grade)...and Optimus Prime AFA 85 for 5K back in the day (selling for ~ 40K+ these days)...and Roadbuster...and Whirl...and...and...and all this can make you go crazy. Oh well. Quote

Nexx's is nice because he can dual wield weapons and I like that they are both different guns. Really hoping Bandai will move onwards to a HMR VF-2JA one day.. Quote

Pontus Posted June 22 Posted June 22 I know I said I wasn't going to get a crappy Evolution VF-2SS, but I've got everything else except that and a VF-4 in 1/60, and I found one new in box, so I caved. I got really disappointed when I opened it and found it extremely yellowed... Fortunately, upon opening the tray, I soon realized the yellowing was just the tray. PHEW! Still a floppy mess of a valk tho, so it will be getting glued in fighter mode. Quote
