jenius Posted March 24 Posted March 24 I just heard that Vernor Vinge passed away. If you haven't heard of Vernor Vinge, you likely love some scifi that was heavily influenced by concepts he brought forward regarding a technological singularity. He also wrote several books that won Hugo awards. I've only read Fire Upon the Deep but I plan to catch up on some of his other works. His depiction of aliens which are truly alien to our experience (Skroderiders and Tines) challenges the reader is some very fun ways. There's an audiobook available if you're looking for a fun listen while you take a flight or something. Rest in Peace Vernor and thank you for your contributions. -
Knight26 Posted March 24 Posted March 24 Oh man, been a while since I read his work, but it definitely was impactful and a huge influence on the genre.
