Master Dex Posted January 5 Posted January 5 Yeah I'm aware but they still brand content with it. All anime in the US that Disney licenses has a clear Hulu label on it and you can watch it with just a Hulu subscription if that's all you have. This hasn't changed yet. Quote
Reni Posted January 9 Posted January 9 I'm in the US and these search results are new to me -- nothing available to stream yet, but probably a good sign that things might happen soon? Quote

My interpretation of the settlement was that FB2012's designs were sufficiently different from DYRL, and rendered several years after HG's purchase, that there was no argument to make that HG could claim ownership, a la II and Plus. Big s Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I’m having some major internet problems, is 2 on the list Quote
jenius Posted January 10 Posted January 10 It's there! All are listed as upcoming, so exciting! Quote
Powered Convoy Posted January 10 Posted January 10 This is great news! Gues I don't need to use the VPN for Disney+ anymore. Quote
Graham Posted January 10 Posted January 10 I will say, I have been impressed by the subtitles on the Disney+ releases. I can't point to any specific instances off the top of my head, but I do feel that I have gained some new insight into certain areas of the Macross animes, when compared to the older fansub releases. Big s Posted January 10 Posted January 10 Finally got power back today and internet is coming in much better. It’s great to see those little space savers on Hulu and really gonna celebrate the addition of Macross content. Quote

If Disney's dubs are any indication that makes sense. Their Valley of the Wind dub is excellent and the other dubs they did were all excellent as well. Having Billy Crystal for Howl's Moving Castle certainly helps of course. Quote

I wonder if the Save and the other members that were previously involved in the subs worked on these also. Quote
Big s Posted January 12 Posted January 12 I think it might be fun if we all set an alarm for when everything finally drops on Hulu and just start playing Flashback 2012, just cause it would show an awkward interest in an obscure entry in the Macross releases. I know it would definitely be difficult for some since east coast has it set for 3am, but could hop up and turn it on and go right back to bed with it playing in another room or something. Just a silly idea though for nothing more than giving a boost to the only thing that really has a bit from the og show. Quote
djivaldi7 Posted January 12 Posted January 12 Watch it and "Like" it... that should trigger some data collection point of Disney's. Plus get on the horn on FB, Instagram, Reddit, Ex-twitter, LinkedIn. I called Harmony Gold twice to advocate the overall release of everything with Disney, the schedule announcement on Hulu came out 3 days later (most likely coincidental) They at least listened, but did say they hadn't seen much consumer inquiry (which may be since most people gave up complaining to them years, if not decades, ago.... Their Cust svc number is public and I posted it here earlier. (323) 851-4900 Quote
network19 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I would be interested to know how the video quality compares to the home media releases and if the subs are an improvement. Quote

Big s Posted January 13 Posted January 13 So, just finished flashback 2012. As a test I went with the subs. I don’t know if this is with all the Macross subs on Hulu, but it seems more like closed caption style subs in that it tells you things like people clapping or record starts playing as well as the lyrics for the songs. I’ll see how macross 2 looks tomorrow. I just wanted a quick test and to see if this all really got added Quote
davidwhangchoi Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Just did a quick watch of the opening segment to Plus. Isamu is so much brighter than the DVD's, such an improvement. I tried both Disney plus and Hulu prefer the subtitle customization options of Hulu much better as I can get my subs color's and fonts perfect. will be using Hulu going forward. Quote
davidwhangchoi Posted January 13 Posted January 13 want to add... watched Plus OVA ep 1 the subtitle timing is off, starts off decent but there's a lag by the time yf-21 is about to demonstrate. I cross checked on both Disney plus and Hulu and the lag is the same for both sites. oh well... i guess i'll live with the improved picture quality (vs. my old dvd set) and try to ignore the subs.... Big s Posted January 13 Posted January 13 We should make this an un official holiday or something. Quote
themarvelknight Posted January 13 Posted January 13 As long as there can be an airing of grievances like Festivus I vote yes. Quote

cfernandez Posted January 13 Posted January 13 Watching my first - SDFM: Flash Back 2012 on Hulu but can't find where to activate subtitles. It says "not available" for subtitles. Will keep looking and enjoying (need subs though). Quote

I see it on the Android App. The option is only for Japanese subs, but it's closed captioned in English. Edited January 13 by Jeff J Quote

cfernandez Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I tried watching SDFM: Flashback 2012 on Hulu and Disney as well as the first few minutes of Macross Plus (movie) on Hulu and Disney and cannot activate subtitles either by CC or selecting subtitles. I am watching at home on streaming subscription on my television. Not using an android or Apple cell phone access. Aargh! Quote

On the tv, it doesn’t seem to allow me either. Hopefully the other stuff is ok on the tv Quote
