no3Ljm
For those who want 1/100 VF-1 to go with Bandai's HG 1/100 kits. Wave is releasing Battroid and Fighter modes separately which you can combine for Gerwalk mode. VF-1S Strike Valkyrie FIGHTER (Focker/Ichijo) June 2024 Release Y4950 VF-1S Strike Valkyrie BATTROID (Focker/Ichijo) June 2024 Release Y4950 Strike Valkyrie GERWALK VF-1S/A Super Valkyrie FIGHTER May 2024 Release Y4500 VF-1S/A Super Valkyrie BATTROID May 2024 Release Y4500 Super Valkyrie GERWALK Edited February 11 by no3Ljm
Raikkonen
Huh!!! Buy 2 kits to build the third variation... So to have all 3 modes, you'll have to get 4 kits. Genius!!! Bandai must be furious for not having figured this out before 🤣

kajnrig
Nice as it is to have these re-issued again, they could stand to just do a "full pack" and include every variation of head and Fast pack. Or if they're adamant about the segmentation, they should have ONLY included the S/A heads with the Strike kits, and ONLY included the J/D heads with the Super kit. Now that I think about it, what do people think are the more "iconic" VF-1 heads? Obviously the S takes top spot, but what would be second-best known, the A or J? I think it's fair to say the D would bring up the rear... but would it, actually? Hmm...

They seem to be more dyrl than og series, so the D would be odd especially since even the og D type had some body differences. But back to these being more dyrl, the J is barely seen. They did do a standard 1J, but it had movie hands and I think it also had a movie style pilot, but oddl these all have tv style stabilizers on the legs. The 1A definitely has the movie head and they all have movie hands as well

But I guess this partsformer method is probably already a thing with other companies. 18 minutes ago, Raikkonen said: I honestly don't recall them... TomyTec did the 1/144 VF-31 Siegfrieds back in 2016. Which you have to buy both Fighter and Battroid kits in order to build Gerwalk.

Big s
It was a similar concept, but highly detailed prepainted little 1/144 kits. I miss em. well at least there are still the 1/100 wave kits and a few options in 1/

Chronocidal
I did grab a few of the 1/144 Delta fighter kits, they go really well with the Kotobukiya Ace Combat ones.
derex3592
The TomyTec model Valks WERE and STILL ARE some of the best things I've EVER put together! They weren't cheap, but MAN were they extremely well done!!! I wished they had made a million more mecha from SDF all the way through Delta even! Definitely great little kits, but I doubt that we’ll be seeing more unfortunately. So for now it’s moving slightly upscale to the 1/100 hg kits from Bandai and the rereleases from wave for small scale Macross battroid partswappers

Raikkonen
As I'm getting further into HMR... I suddenly find myself keen in the plane mode of these... At least one is needed. The latest video with the release schedule reminded they're around the corner now. Edited May 30 by Raikkonen

Big s
7 hours ago, Raikkonen said: Thanks for this. Easy pass then. They’re definitely not gonna be a simple build, but not exactly difficult either. Wave kits have a pretty good fit, but often still need some touch es of glue and paint. The seams need some filling since they usually go straight down the middle and I haven’t built the super or strike versions, but I’m pretty sure they need some drilling for attachments. Even the wave Votoms kits require some minor drilling for weapon attachments and I figure these pack probably do as well

VF-1A Grunt
I saw official Wave fighter and Battroid samples on display at Yodobashi in Akihabara two weeks ago. They looked really good, just like the example photos above. They had the Hikaru VF-1A Super Battroid kits for ¥4950. I assume they had just been released, because I don’t think I saw them at any other stores. They look really good, a huge step up from the old transformable kits. I’ve never really been interested in 1/100 but would certainly get a bunch of these if I wanted to model in that scale.

The only major complaint that I have is the cost for displaying all three modes since you need to buy two battroid kits and two fighter kits, so four kits to display them all. They do also have a bit of a thick look in the body as well as the 1S head. I personally prefer their 1A head. The Gerwalk is also a bit of an odd one since the joints are weird and the knee covers have to be left off. Also , with the TV Skull1 in Roy’s old colors, they only have movie hands and a movie pilot. Definitely not as fun as Plamax, but more fun than Hasegawa. Bolt
Looks really good, but it's an easy pass for me. Just not my scale. And I've got so many VF-1's I already need to build..

It’s totally understandable. But it is pretty good for 1/100 builders even though it’s almost a 10 or more year old kit. It probably would have done better if it got this kind of attention on its original release
