sc_planet Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 Finally completed this Moscato task, but sad for a fatal mistake, otherwise this would have been a successful project. Quote
Bolt Posted November 26, 2023 Posted November 26, 2023 You did an awesome job. I'm not sure what the mistake was, but it's really cool to see one of these built 👍🏼 Quote
tekering Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Yeah, "fatal" is definitely overstating it. It's a beautiful bird regardless, and I'm very jealous. Thanks for sharing! Quote
Shawn Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Wow-this is a super rare build, thanks for sharing the pics! This is the true "Macross Zero" for me. Moscato is king. Look at all the wonderful detailing, excellent work!! Quote
Gabe Q Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 I see the "fatal mistake". If you look carefully, the decal near the left aileron is about .05mm off center. Seriously though, that is an amazing build. @sc_planet You're way too modest! Quote

I see it: the nose stripes are misaligned (circled): sc_planet: don't worry about it so much! In real life, the military fouls up paint jobs all the time! Here's a link to a topic that might help you out: https://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234966177-modelling-mistakes-on-real-aircraft/ Personally, I think your plane looks great! And to be honest: during the Global Civil War, the militaries of the world probably didn't have all that much time to make sure every stripe was right! SO, it's all good! You have a winner here; relax, take a victory lap, and get yourself a Petite Cola! Edited November 27, 2023 by pengbuzz Quote
Big s Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 If we don’t notice the mistake until it’s mentioned there’s a mistake, then it’s definitely not a fatal mistake. At least in the model world. It’s different in real life though. I think it looks great Quote
Knight26 Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 Fatal mistake is maybe overstarting thing, a little line error is no big deal. The rest of the build looks amazing. Fantastic Job. And I agree with @Shawn. As cool as it was to see the F-14 in Mac-0, I think we all would have loved to have seen the Dragon and MiM-31 fighting it out. Quote
KOG Water Dragon Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 It does look fantastic, but I have a question: Isn't the canopy framing supposed to be painted black? Quote
Thom Posted November 27, 2023 Posted November 27, 2023 That is a great looking plane! Sure, we all have those little 'woopsies' on our builds, but don't beat yourself up over it. In the Grand Scheme of All Modelling, that is a slight one! Good job! Quote
Raikkonen Posted November 28, 2023 Posted November 28, 2023 I think he means that the one wing is glued lower from the other. Quote
electric indigo Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 ZOMG please stop pointing out all those little inaccuracies 😄 The only thing that sticks out IMO is the canopy frame, and that can be fixed. Quote

Also, this is the Macross forums. Little inaccuracies are our specialty here, ask Yamato and Bandai. 😁 Quote
sc_planet Posted November 30, 2023 Author Posted November 30, 2023 Thank you so much for the comments, support and appreciation. Perhaps i should tell more about the mistake. There was a drop of paint that damaged the surface at the final stage. I tried to sand that part and paint again, but it was not totally unnoticeable. But I should be glad that it is not too obvious. i will consider to paint the canopy frame. Thank you for the suggestions. Other projects in pipeline: VF-2JA, 3 x VF-17, YF-25 with parts of Frame Out Model.... and many others to follow Quote
Thom Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 @sc_planet That?! Why, that's just a dirty maintenance panel!😉 Quote
Knight26 Posted November 30, 2023 Posted November 30, 2023 Adds authenticity from where the weapons loaders acciddentally ran the forlift into it. Quote

Even after it’s pointed out, it still looks like weathering to me Quote
