I hope this is not another case of black skull heatshield and booster on Hikaru's VF-1S. ;)

Do u think it's possible to bring colours to the leg packs, with just gundam markers?

I would say yes. But you will need to be very careful as the paints want to flow all across the surface. image.jpeg.fc69193a33eb3a7d3a4306da0def64c9.jpegimage.jpeg.7f7e6cdfee312a1fd145817fe5b09993.jpeg

Thanks for the reply. If I chose to paint the packs, do I need something to "permanently" fix the colours? Would it still smear if I don't fix it?

If it’s small parts you should be fine. Normal use and wear will take away any paint. For large surfaces clean, prep, primer, and spray color. Then clear to seal and protect your work. It will still wear over time so just move the parts carefully.

I am so lucky with these recent DX purchases, seriously WTH.
Open the box and I have a broken tail fin.
At least I can officially confirm that its molded in ORANGE.
Bought from Mercari, so no one to help.

Guess we'll see how well super-glue works.

From Facebook. Same exact tailfin breakage out of the box. Definitely Bandai's negligence on quality control. :aggressive:

That looks awesome!

Considering how Bandai's heavy handed tampo and detailing goes. I'm surprised this wasn't already done.?And the fact that this is the most basic of VF details... wow

I'm starting to feel relieved I passed on this Valk, I love the VT-1 but broken stabilizers out of the box & other QC issues on this thing... and I agree with @Chronocidal on this Valk & the DX YF-21 with its QC issues too, luckily mine didn't have a broken antenna/head laser but it does have other fit problems, not acceptable at such prices.

I'm glad I have my two YAMATO VT-1's, with the shoulder replacements, they're rock solid & no exploding parts.

No beetles were crushed for that shiny candy coating.

Bleh my chrome marker ran dry just now so I'll have to finish the landing gear later.

With this issue, I'm tending to agree with theory that it's the blister covers that's been forced down at some angle as per what happened with the YF-21. With Bandai, I don't think the covers are put on manually, but with a machine - quick & forceful. Notice how the blisters are consistently tight & perfectly closed all around when we first unbox it, as opposed to say an Arcadia blister cover that's likely manually put on.

Bad Bandai!

If anyone sees this VT-1 complaint on social media WITH a Bandai reply, even in Japanese, PLEASE post a link here to it. I want to join that discourse with them even if I have to use Google Translate.

so how do we know which wing should be painted red or blue:wacko:

The marker lights on the landing gear covers of the legs are red and blue respectively. This would be an easy way to know which color goes to which corresponding side.

Macross follows the same rules regarding navigational lights as real world aircraft... mostly. Red port light and green starboard light.

Even the life-sized Gundam has red and green navigational lights built into its shoulder pauldrons. Federation ships in Star Trek follow this convention too.

VT-1 from Yoyukanow just arrived via DHL. after being on hold status since Sunday morning. At least it is here now.

A cursory look inside the box and thru the clear plastic,  the VT-1 does not show any obvious signs of damage... but I have not handled the toy at all yet.

But so far, looking good.

Cool! Looking forward for the review as well! Maybe you can combine it with the VF-1D since am sadly missing that review as well...😉

Keep it coming.
