GunnerX Posted February 2, 2004 Posted February 2, 2004 Hi All! Here are some progress pics of my VF-19A, i didn't take as many pictures compared to my VF-1J, but it's cool to see it from the initial stage to the final product! The completed model can be seen at the Model Kits section here! : http://www.macrossworld.com/mwf/index.php?showtopic=4382 Here's the top half of the fuselage, i fitted on the top fins and puttied off the gap in between, spent a lot of time trying to make sure the fins were at the same level! GunnerX Posted February 2, 2004 Author Posted February 2, 2004 The next easiest part to fit together would be the feet/thrusters and gunpod.... i drilled out the gunpod muzzle with a drillbit.. looks more realistic! Quote
GunnerX Posted February 2, 2004 Author Posted February 2, 2004 The legs are the next to be fixed together, i've placed the landing gears in first because the landing gear covers don't block the wheels too much... thankfully, the wheel and the pin fastening it to the landing gear are two seperate pieces... easier to paint! GunnerX Posted February 3, 2004 Author Posted February 3, 2004 Here's the pilot, i lopped off the right arm at the elbow and bent it a bit so it'll look like the hands on the throttle! Quote
GunnerX Posted February 3, 2004 Author Posted February 3, 2004 ... and here he is painted! No detailing yet... Quote
GunnerX Posted February 3, 2004 Author Posted February 3, 2004 (edited) Here it is with a enamel wash.... Edited February 3, 2004 by GunnerX Quote
GunnerX Posted February 3, 2004 Author Posted February 3, 2004 (edited) The feet thrusters masked for painting! Edited February 3, 2004 by GunnerX Quote
wasp Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 It looks great so far. I have to admit I like the way the fuselage looks in you picture. I like the way you light source makes it look like the paint goes from bright white fading into a blue. I realize it is a trick of the light, but it looks kind of cool. Maybe I will have to build my VF-1 and see if I can get that effect. Keep the progress reports coming. Quote
Mule Posted February 4, 2004 Posted February 4, 2004 Lookin' good GunnerX I've got one of these in the model queue, right after the VF-1S. Quote

The white paint is actually a base coat primer, i just sprayed the front portion to see whether there are any gaps i missed for the fins! But that effect won't be difficult with an airbrush methinks! GunnerX Posted February 5, 2004 Author Posted February 5, 2004 Thanks Mule! And here are the two halves joined together. I've masked off the cockpit area to do the basecoat... Quote
Mule Posted February 5, 2004 Posted February 5, 2004 What are you using for a primer? I've been using Badger's primer, but it is some really finicky stuff. Quote
GunnerX Posted February 9, 2004 Author Posted February 9, 2004 What are you using for a primer? I've been using Badger's primer, but it is some really finicky stuff. Hi Mule! I'm using Gunze Surfacer 1200... for my base. Its goes on pretty thin, so beeee careful! Ok! Here we go! Here's a shot of the cockpit... Quote
GunnerX Posted February 9, 2004 Author Posted February 9, 2004 .... painted feet! there's a whole gap where i realised i forgot to take pix!!! Quote
GunnerX Posted February 9, 2004 Author Posted February 9, 2004 And finally, the wings. Actually i started painting the wings first before the other parts! Quote
