505thAirborne Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 Hi all, if there is already an existing Gunbuster thread I couldn't find it. Mods, if there is one, do your magic. While doing a random search on AmiAmi yesterday I saw these under in the Pre-order section, I was rather surprised to see new Gunbuster products for PO. If ever an Anime series has stuck with me all these years, it has been Gunbuster. Just seeing the Eltreum & Exelion was enough for me to order two sets! Hiriyu Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 According to the product page, the Eltreum model is nearly 14" long! Will definitely be thinking about committing to them, and agreed, they do look cool. I had the GX-34 and it was pretty phenomenal. I hope you do get your wish of a rerelease. Quote
hachi Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 There are 2 I could find: The first one was a thread I made for a new kit release. https://www.hlj.com/1-1000-scale-gunbuster-super-lightning-kick-ver-aos06690 Unfortunately I'm not exactly swimming in money right now, so may have to pass on that one. I can buy several other kits for that price. Quote
Duke Togo Posted September 7, 2023 Posted September 7, 2023 (edited) We haven't had an official Gunbuster thread in years. This is overdue. Edited September 8, 2023 by Duke Togo Quote
505thAirborne Posted September 8, 2023 Author Posted September 8, 2023 @Duke Togo Then this is our GUNBUSTER thread for now. @no3Ljm That CCS Gunbuster... when & where can you find that one? Quote

I like this Gunbuster but I have to admit, I'd love to see Bandai do a re-issue or a whole new mold of its GX-34 with improved joints & better plastic. Every time I'm tempted to get one of off Mandarake, there's always pics of the plastic cracking or getting ready too. Quote

AmiAmi [Character & Hobby Shop] | Gunbuster Mechanic Selection Plastic Model(Pre-order) & AmiAmi [Character & Hobby Shop] | Gunbuster Soft Vinyl Kit Reproduction Edition(Pre-order) Thanks for letting us know about those kits! It's about time someone made plastic kits of the ships! I don't know anything about that company, Bellfine, but I already ordered a set. That soft vinyl kit is a reissue of a garage kit from the 90s. I actually built one, many years ago. It's a great looking kit, but vinyl is a pain to work with. Eliminating the seams took forever. I also found this one on HLJ. It looks like they took that same kit and scaled it up, making it about 20 inches tall! https://www.hlj.com/mega-sofvi-gunbuster-kyd00107 Quote
Valkyrie Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I found one more Gunbuster kit from Kaiyodo. Looks like they've taken that same soft vinyl kit and made an injection molded version of it. https://www.hlj.com/artpla-sculpture-works-gunbuster-noriko-takaya-kazumi-amano-absolute-defense-battle-of-the-solar-system-kyd19026 It's pretty crazy to see how many new models Gunbuster is getting for this anniversary, after getting next to nothing for the past 35 years! PulverizedPelvis Posted November 13, 2023 Posted November 13, 2023 Heh, awesome. Random aside, but does anyone know where this poster is from? Or does anyone happen to have a high quality scan? I can't seem to find the origin of it, and it has a bunch of neat little details about the interior of the Gunbuster's machinery. I'm dying to read it. Also, does ANYONE know where I can find the "Aim for the top! NeXT GENERATION" (1989/2007) manga online? I've only been able to find a single chapter, when there's suppose to be 17 total. (Not to be confused with the other NeXTGen manga, "Aim for the Top! NeXT GENERATION ~Battleship Alexion Edition" (1991), which is available on Manga Library Z.) Quote

505thAirborne Posted November 15, 2023 Author Posted November 15, 2023 (edited) The box art is absolutely gorgeous! The kits are molded in their respected colors and with a quality paint job, wash & decals... these should look really good. The ELTREUM measures just about 14 inches long, so that's pretty cool! Hiriyu Posted November 16, 2023 Posted November 16, 2023 Those kits look great, 505th. Would have loved to see a little 25mm Gunbuster to go with the Exelion! Quote

505thAirborne Posted December 5, 2023 Author Posted December 5, 2023 (edited) Hi all, I'm making a little bit of progress on the Gunbuster model kits, I started with the Exelion & Eltreum. The kits themselves are nicely molded and look like the line art, that said they are very basic with little to no detail or any real panel lining... so I added my own plus some spare photo-etch parts I had leftover & used them on the Eltreum. I have decent weather out here the next few days so I might give these a good basecoat and try for some actual painting. @no3Ljm If there is info out there, I can't find any, do you by chance know any specifics on that CCS Gunbuster in terms of height, cost & does it transform like the old Bandai DX? Hey @505thAirborne. It stands around 11in. There's no info if it transforms. Mostly are just weapons and open parts gimmicks. Price on the other hand, TFSource at $369.99. ChosenPrime at $369.99. OhMyPrimus at $251.12. ShowZ/Gudamit at $352.99. Bombusbee at $249.99. BBTS at $369.99. USAGundamStore at $339.99. With Q1 2024 release. I think most stores that offered it at $300-something looks like the shipping is included. Edited December 6, 2023 by no3Ljm Quote

505thAirborne Posted December 7, 2023 Author Posted December 7, 2023 @tekering That definitely should have read "I'm going to give these a base coat first". Quote
Test_Pilot_2 Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 If this Gunbuster transformed it would be at Metal Structure pricing. As much as I want it to transform, after watching an articulation video on it, I struggle to understand HOW it could. Maybe I'm just a pessimist. It is spectacular nonetheless. Quote
tekering Posted December 10, 2023 Posted December 10, 2023 Mega Sofvi in da house! 🤗 Finally, a GunBuster big enough to display with other robot figures. ☺️ Every other GunBuster toy or model is so small, it doesn't really scale with anything... ...but at roughly 1:450 scale, the Mega Sofvi works with my smallest Mobile Suits, at least. 🤓 Quote

505thAirborne Posted December 11, 2023 Author Posted December 11, 2023 (edited) Well, this explains the price tag, that Gunbuster is huge & it looks amazing @tekering. Will you be getting the CCS Toys Gunbuster as well? Edited December 11, 2023 by 505thAirborne Quote
Valkyrie Posted December 11, 2023 Posted December 11, 2023 Wow! That thing looks incredible! I'd love to have one, but I don't know if I'd even have a place to display something that big. Quote

No, it's an awesome piece with some wonderful display options, but it's just not big enough to justify the cost. If I'm spending over $300, I expect something appropriately massive. 😋 It has inspired me to make a cape for my Mega Sofvi, however. 😇 On 12/11/2023 at 1:32 PM, Valkyrie said: I don't know if I'd even have a place to display something that big. At 53cm, it's not hard to make space for... It's got great shelf presence, but it's not nearly as big as some third-party combiners, much less my "Jumbo Grade" mobile suits... In fact, it's not even among the ten largest figures I own. I wish it was bigger, actually. Quote
