Not really. Admittedly, I have not seen Rebels (yet) but Thrawn here came across as a pretty good character. A nice change from overbearing, bombastic villains, he was thoughtful and proactive. I hope they keep up with that in season 2.

I'm sorry, I couldn't resist this.

Hopefully Thrawn ends up a better character in the next season, he was such a letdown here. And I think it would be a good idea to make Ahsoka the main character in her own show

I wouldn't hold my breath on either score, more likely it'll be more of the same, if not even more so... Star Wars under Disney is almost invariably a lost cause.

Yeah, I don’t know why I keep watching these shows thinking they might be good. I guess it doesn’t seem so long ago when I would be excited for each new episode of the Mandalorian or the next Marvel project, but something changed and these shows and movies have really become major letdowns

It’ll be trippy to see the Hound take over as Baylan.

But we’ll see.

Gonna be hard to replace Ray. But I'm good with that pic. Also glad to see his story continues.

I know, right? But given what we've seen of him in GoT, he might be able to pull it off.

I just hope they don't include all the foul language; that gets to me after a while.

Good to see that they are keeping the character going. Have never really seen GoT so I don't know McCann in an acting role. Did the Mountain ever say much..?

He played the Mountain’s brother, the Hound.

Had a number of lines from the series.

But it’ll be interesting to see if he can pull off Baylan’s calm, controlled demeanor and speech delivery.

Ah, thanks! I got them mixed up. What I saw of him as the Hound was pretty great. More hopeful now.

I’m one in the minority that never liked the show. But my lady loves all the backstabbery.  I do however have to say that some characters are very likable, even though the show wasn’t for me and the Hound was one of those.

I just didn’t care for it since it felt like a more pervy version of a real housewives show set In a medieval era.

McCann has excellent nerd cred and presence on the small screen so it'll be interesting to see him in this new role.

On a side note I bet a dollar McCann will be cast as Hagrid in the Harry Potter series for Max.

I would like to like Game of Thrones. but it would have to be at least a PG13. I don't like the excessive gore or excessive violence, or excessive nudity (on the series) just for the sake of. Yes, it's more real in the way it portrays the casual cruetly of Medievalism than a lot of other fantasy set in similar epochs, but that makes it less escapism/entertainment for me and more of just a chore. I'm much more of a Lord of the Rings man myself!😁

That stuff doesn’t bug me too much, although I do think it’s way overused and distracting from the story, if there really is a story. My problem is that everyone hates everyone and almost no one seems to be on the same page. It’s kinda like adding action and sex to a reality show. It also had too many focuses and not a real main character from what I saw.

You know that big British guy you know? Well, he passed away, so we've replaced him with another big British guy who you know.

I've said it before and I've said it again: I'm more interested in this character's story than I am with what's going on with Ahsoka and Co.

In an alternate universe, Baylan Skoll's brother turns Din Djarin's head into mashed potatoes.

I gotta agree. The main story was very lacking in just about every way. It made the side quest of Sabine’s girlfriend with the Prince Adam hair and her trainer seem far more interesting than it probably is.

What happened to Disney"s use of deep fake monsters like Luke Skywalker?

Costly - have still not quite worked out yet either.  For a character that was only seen in a few episodes of a spinoff that is not even "required".

They’ll blow their budget on Grand Moff Tarkin though.

All joking aside, Baylan wasn’t a very memorable character anyway. Sure he might’ve been better than most in Ahsoka, but it’s probably more to do with the show being crap. Kinda like with Smilo Ren in the Acolyte. He had the best scenes in an otherwise crappy show that even if his scenes were stupid, they felt like something more epic than they actually were.

Well, you could say that Baylan is no Peter Cushing...

From what I recall, they used de-aging software for Luke, that someone then deep-faked on youtube and made look so much better.

Even the redone Luke, though much better (and I think the same person did Luke in Boba Fett too) does not quite make it out of the uncanny valley - but it does get much closer to doing so.

Nobody in this show is memorable, that's a big part of the problem.

It's an unnecessary sequel to Rebels, where the few returning characters have that problem where their story is picking up after The End and any character development is in "Well, sh*t, what do we do with them now?" territory.

Spoiler

Unpopular hot take, but the Thrawn in Ahsoka is a pale shadow of the Thrawn in Rebels, who was in turn a pale shadow of the Thrawn in the pre-Disney "Thrawn Trilogy", where he was a painfully overrated character by dint of being the only Imperial character who wasn't a one-dimensional moron.  If he weren't named "Thrawn" in Ahsoka, nobody'd give a cr*p about him.

Agreed: I didn't like the utter gore, the hyperviolence, and certainly not all the foul language.

And yes: Tolkien did it better decades prior, and without those dubious "hallmarks" that GoT is known for! O.o
