Containers for Yamato/Arcadia 1/60 boxes

Do you pack them away by flattening them, or just stacking them in bins?

I think at one point I used the VF-1 super pack bundle boxes to store several layers of plastic trays combined, and then folded the empty boxes flat to save space.

Going with totes takes up a lot of valuable space. Using various types of boxes really helps as they are slimmer. Sometimes no box at all, well packed items can be covered over the top with craft paper to reduce dust.

This is from 2021, and a lot has been packed in file boxes with proper labeling. But the packing style remains the same.

Cost of the collapsible file boxes runs 2 bucks per banker box. If you buy in bulk the cost is lower.

Hope this helps.

Yeah, I'm not buying anymore bins for more than double the price I used to pay and they aren't always the most efficient without some really creative and lucky fitting boxes. I've been considering switching to mostly unboxing/unbinning and stacking the bare boxes like nB4m but doing a test run in one of my closets, it only saved me maybe one or two small boxes worth of space so I'm not sure the effort will be worth it for me. I need to save space and like having everything clearly visible to access but I also lose protection and the amount of time it would take me is probably worth a fortune as well. Right now, I'm stuck with my storage mostly looking like this:

I forgot to mention. When stacking bare boxes I would highly recommend using cardboard slips after the second or third layer. I usually leave an extended flap to bend and create more strength to the stack. It really helps stabilize the boxes and reduces wear and tear and buckling.

At this point, I've 3D-Tetris'd the heck out of all my boxes.  It's fun finding the size ratios between the Bandai and Yamarcadias to see how many of each it takes to make an even stack. :p

Nope. I don't see any tables. Just prized possessions. :spiteful:

Oh. I did this in one of the cabinets. And it's not fun. I still have some boxes that didn't fit the empty spaces. Hahaha!

That's a good tip. I have a bunch of foam board that I use for stuff like that. It's a perk of alway having signs printed for work events. They are great for me to reuse as backgrounds to take photos and box buffer/protectors in storage.

That is a good trick, my stacks don't generally go that high though.  One thing I do tend to do is rotate the box directions depending on what's in them, and I'll often use Bandai's styrofoam-filled packing as a support between rows of cardboard and plastic trays.

Haha, the things we do! Unfortunately for me, my stacks all go from floor to ceiling and I am out of space. Gotta figure out how to use some quantum reality bending to create more room.

It helps to restack older items. I generally find more room, while restraining from jamming items together so as not to damage boxes or items. Usually, right after this excessive I feel like I lost something but then remember where the items went and feel good about the shuffling of new and old. Plus it allows me to keep up my excel sheets.🤓

Great pics.  I need to document my storage containers.

Would love to take a peak at your eclectic collection. You seem to collect most everything in your path. Almost like your the Magneto of toys.

Ohhh don't know why I never tried that. Buckling is definitely an issue once you're at the 100+ valk mark. I'm going to put all those discarded Amazon boxes to use. Thanks for the tip!

I use clear and solid color containers of different sizes and like @Slave IV I stack them from the floor to close to the ceiling making sure the lighter ones are at the top.

I also save large shipping boxes to store bigger items.  I also seal up all edges of the boxes with tape.  I'm currently moving stuff around so this is one example of a box that will be sealed up and labeled.  Only 2 Valks fit inside.

For contents of the containers and boxes I try to put everything of the same type or series inside but sometimes will play Tetris and put other stuff.  Everything stays brand new and undamaged.

That seems like a lot of fun. Your storage is very well organized and thought out.

Thank you for sharing.

Oh it is. I have everything I need to keep me there for hours oimage.jpeg.db3dc9eade5457a7f90bd73161d79e57.jpegn end.

I still like to repair and create things here. Or let my kiddo play here when he wants.

Apologies for deviating, but it’s just another way of looking at storage. Keep form and function.

That’s what is great about storing items like this it allows connectivity with your collection and access.

I agree here, & like that you have chosen to merge the hangout space with storage area for practical reasons.

Most collectors I see online (including myself) choose to have the work / play desk in the collection display room, with the ones in storage always being just slightly out of reach or a bit of hassle to access in a snap. My ideal set-up would be collection display, storage & workspace be in the same room, but that usually would require a very large space.

I like your idea of having every application existing in one area. It’s the best of all worlds.

Thanks for the input everybody, my collection isn't nearly to the scale of most of the ones shared, but my space is pretty limited.  Behold, the wall of boxes.
