No, you need to detach the sound booster during transformation. The prongs that go into the back in battroid (which are really terrible by the way and don't provide a really secure connection) are actually on top of the sound booster in fighter mode. There is also an adapter you need to use for fighter mode on the Yamato/Arcadia that you need to take off for battroid. Quote
jenius Posted February 21 Posted February 21 The bummer of the Hi-Metal R is that they had the foresight of knowing they would do the sound booster and knowing how Yamato came up short on it and instead decided to cheap it out and reuse their old sound booster (so it appears) with different clips. If they do a DX VF-19 like they teased, I sure hope they put more thought into how the two will connect but after the DX YF-21, I have my doubts. Quote

They will sell the Valk with connectors to your liking, and pretend they will release a sound booster designed to fit on it one day. That day may or may not come, like the 21's fold booster, and all the AXs' super packs, or Chuck's anything. Quote
Graham Posted February 25 Posted February 25 The physical store I buy my Macross toys from, just messaged me to come pick up the HMR sound booster this evening. 😊 Quote
rsvictor1976 Posted February 28 Posted February 28 (edited) I got my Sound Booster from Nin-Nin just now. Looks pretty good but I wish they added more color to the base. It came with the brown Tamashii Nations shipper box and the new clam-shell plastic lid is interesting. Edited February 28 by rsvictor1976 Quote

Or is it a beat a horse into submission hunk of plastic? Looks like Mickey Mouse with a guitar stuck through his nose and sticking up like a horn off his forehead.....or maybe I am just seeing things....don't read into that... I do not know how I honestly feel about the sound booster. I think that it is essential for a Arcadia 1/60 VF-19 Kai Fire Valkyrie to have, but do not know if it is necessary for my Hi-Metal R VF-19 Kai Fire Valk. (I do not have the Arcadia 1/60, I am waiting to see if there is a DX Chogokin VF-19 Kai Fire Valk made) Twich Quote
sh9000 Posted March 1 Author Posted March 1 The stand base is the same as the HM release but now with the text colored gold. Quote

They could have done a lot more with it. Additionally, it takes up a larger footprint than it needed to be and I’m finding it difficult to find space for it with the rest of my HI-Metal Rs. I think I’m going to switch back to the standard size stand that came with the VF-19. The Sound Booster itself is nice, but probably wait on it to go on sale. Edited March 1 by rsvictor1976 Quote

MKT Posted Monday at 09:15 AM Posted Monday at 09:15 AM (edited) Unboxed the Soundbooster, which came in the same time as Bogue's 262. I guess I can kinda accept that Bandai used the same mold as the old HM one, but I really wish the paint app were better updated. Firstly, I don't like the dull blue they maintained. It would be better off with the deeper & brilliant blue Yamcadia used. It also indicates that should Bandai onward makes a HMR VF-19S/F, they might continue with the same dull blue they used for the HM. Secondly, I wished they put in more colors on the piping details under the top flap and the speakers themselves. Just a single swath of silver across these areas makes it look cheap. It might have been nice when they were first released 15 years ago, but doesn't look good for today's release. Conversely, I liked that they tightened up all the joints. I recall the all the opening flap joints on the old HM are rather loose out of the box, and here they are nice & tight. Edited Monday at 09:37 AM by MKT Quote

The color scheme doesn’t look so terrible here. 2. I hate the gold chrome on that pitifully plain stand 3. Bandai missed a fantastic opportunity: They could have used a guitar for the vertical support on the stand Quote

You gotta orient the neck and frets forward so the valk can reach down and play …. 😱 ... Forget everything I just said. Quote
