Seto Kaiba Posted August 13, 2022 Posted August 13, 2022 Didn't Jim Carrey announce his retirement back in April, though? Are they recasting? Quote

Truthfully I dunno how solid his retirement is, and if he's under contract with Paramount he might have to still do it though his appearance in the film could be diminished to some capacity as well. Eh, I'll still see it when it's available for streaming. The first two were reasonably fun. Quote

I still have 2 kids within the targeted demographic for these Sonic movies.....it'll be a $5 matinee for us! They are goofy fun, so not complaining... Quote

Tking22 Posted August 27 Posted August 27 That looks awesome! Shadow looks great! Reeves is great for Shadow, Carrey is back and he's always been fun as Eggman, I really enjoyed the first two so I'm absolutely in on opening day! Quote
TangledThorns Posted August 28 Posted August 28 I'll take my almost 10 year old daughter as she enjoys the SONIC films and the Knuckles series on Paramount+. Quote

Hikuro Posted November 29 Posted November 29 Here’s my thing, Keanu, good actor on screen. Flat when he’s doing voice over. I’m sure that was just a promo piece he had to do but even when he did cyberpunk I thought he was sorta just dull. hope I’m wrong in the end though! I’m still looking forward to it and hope it’s better than Sonic 2. That was an ok movie but not as fun as the first was for me. Quote
Hikuro Posted December 20 Posted December 20 Early numbers are in as kids are getting off of school early and parents take them to the theater for the holiday season! it looks like I gotta eat my words from November as critic scores sit at 85% but early audience reactions are at 98%, already planning to kick the snot out of disneys unnecessary prequel, Mufasa, and maybe size up Wicked and Moana 2. I got my ticket for tomorrow at 8:30 am lol! Quote
jvmacross Posted December 20 Posted December 20 Will be there tomorrow with my kids and a bunch of their friends...will do our part to dethrone Moana 2! LOL... Quote
Hikuro Posted December 21 Posted December 21 Just got home a little bit ago and had a little time to digest it. Spoiler Def. a better movie than Sonic 2, maybe as good as the first film. However, if you've ever played Sonic 2 back in the early 2000's, then you'll easily know where this movie is going to go, which is somewhat a disappointment, however not one that kills the movie. Afterall there are far less characters in this movie than in that game. Tika and James had way more screen time than they did in Sonic 2 I think, and were more helpful than in the previous film. At first when the trailers came out I felt Keanu kind of phoned in his performance and watching the film, I guess there was a bit more effort in his portrayal as Shadow and there was a big nod to Neo in the climatic battle between Super Shadow and Super Sonic. Jim Carrey's performance was about what I would expect being Jim Carrey who to me, always seems to be playing an over animated version of himself...like in person Carrey acts one way, but in his films he generally acts the way you'd expect him to be. Do I think this is oscar winning performance like so many are putting it out to be? No, but I do think its one of his better films since his early days. There are certainly questions left unanswered seeing how the eclipse canon did some significant and potentially catastrophic damage to the moon slicing off a flipping quarter of it, and that would do some terrible things to the planet and amongst other things and that's just, never addressed after the fact.....sooooo yeah. The reveal of Metal Sonic or more like an army of Metal Sonics I felt was a nice touch opening into a 4th film which will for what seems to be an obvious thing along with having Amy now in the troupe. Which I mean come on, how could there not be an Amy? Everyones been waiting for that to happen since the unveiling of Tails. But with this being Jim Carrey's supposed last film, it makes me question who could be the creator of Metal Sonic with Eggman once again "dead". Will Sega and Paramount cast a new actor to take on the reigns? Will there be a 3rd member of the Robotnik family we don't known of outside of Gerald and Ivo? Or are the Metal Sonics a new counter measure from GUN who have proven to be untrustworthy and don't want to be in Sonic and Team's corner, thanks to Krysten Ritter's Director Rockwell character? Guess we shall see! Quote
